This is a gentleman that you can trust. Robert at R & R Marine is an experienced, knowledgeable,…read more"comes to you" boat mechanic that does good, honest work at a very fair price. He rolled up at my place with an enclosed trailer behind his truck, and his trusty dog along for the ride. He evaluated my boat motor's condition/performance while it was running with a temporary water supply, reassembled the water pump, and then recognized that a rubber connecting bushing at the water pump housing discharge was missing (that I did not even know was needed). As it was late afternoon, and over an hour and a half from his home, Robert gave me advice on the missing component, how to install it, and on reinstalling the lower unit. I picked up the part, installed it per Robert's advice, and the water pump worked! I was so thankful for the review posted by the gentleman with the blown head gasket, as the feeling I got from reading his review is why I called R & R. And the feeling I got when my water pump worked is why I will call Robert for any and all boat motor issues I ever experience. Thank you Robert, you are very much appreciated! Kenny R.

Fantastic and honest mechanic! I broke a spark plug off in my 4 stroke Honda 130 outboard engine…read moredays before we were scheduled to leave for a family vacation. The boat was essential to this trip. Desperate to fix it I called R&R on a Sunday evening with little to go on but an Internet search result. To my surprise, Robert answered my call. He sounded good on the phone, felt for me and my situation and allowed me to drop the boat off that night at his shop. By 10 the next morning he called me with the diagnostic. Water in my oil and a very seized set of threads from the old plug stuck tight in the head. Really bad news! Robert checked compression to make sure the block was good before we went further. He then pulled the head in no time and found a blown head gasket was the cause of both issues. That evening he got the old rusted plug threads out. That took serious skill and finesse! By the next day he had the parts and my engine was purring like a kitten and looked like brand new. This was a difficult job that others wouldn't have dared to touch. I'm sure many dealers would have condemned the motor as soon as they saw water in the oil, too. You can trust R & R. He's my guy for all my jobs here on out.

I can not recommend Oyster Cove Boatworks and Yacht Brokerage after my experience purchasing a…read morebrokerage boat through them. I initially contacted them in November of 2024 about a boat they had listed. I did eventually purchase the boat in February 2025 as it was what I was looking for, but the entire purchase process was extremely challenging and filled with inconsistencies, half-truths and out-right lies. During the entire purchase process, I had done everything I could do to ensure a smooth, uneventful purchase, acting in good faith and performing all the due diligence I could to prevent surprises. This was not my first long distance purchase! I believe Oyster Cove Boatworks acted in bad faith, with dishonest intentions and in fact, deliberate misrepresentation, and manipulation of the facts. I reached out to the Oyster Cove Owner/President Chris Leigh and my Salesperson Laurence Ritter after the sale was finalized in regards to several concerns that I had. Over the course of 8 weeks and 8 emails, they never responded once. I think it goes to show what kind of business Chris runs when he does not have any interest in resolving a customer's concerns. I would steer clear of Oyster Cove and find a dealership that truly cares about its customers and holds itself to the highest standards of ethics and integrity. Oyster Cove, can you say you hold yourself to these key principles and values? Honesty, Fairness, Respect, Responsibility, Transparency

I have brought my boat in for winterization for the past 3 years…read more Last year I don't think they actually did the full service. In April when I took the boat out I started having fuel related problems. Issues pointed to the VST filter. They quoted me 1200 to repair because it was an 8 hour job. I spoke with another Mechanic and he fixed it in 2 hours for 250 plus parts. His comment was the I needed to stabilize the fuel when I winterize. I just winterized for this year. I put 40 hours on the engine. My mechanic doesn't think they replaced the oil last year. He thinks they just spun a new filter on and charged me for full service. Lesson is you can't trust anyone and if you do trust you still need to verify .

We searched online for a boat rental company for the Hot Springs Area and Great White Rentals was…read morethe first site to come up. We read the reviews and assumed since they were all so good and their website looked good they were a legit company. We called and talked to a nice lady on the phone a week prior to us coming to visit for a week long vacation with 6 of our grandkids. Let her know we had a pontoon and would like to rent a nice boat to spend 2-3 days on the lake tubing, skiing, and riding around while we were here. I asked about the two nicer boats on the website and she said they had some really clean boats and she could get us 8 in one no problem. So reserved the premium one over the phone. When we arrived the next week they called the day before and requested to be paid the of the amount in cash. I thought this was strange for a company, but agreed and went to back to get cash for the next morning. (First red flag) When they arrived with the boat it was a 22 year old tri-toon, very weathered, and let's just say, well used. (Second red flag) Seats ripped, awning held together with bungee cords and straps, rear ladder was bungee strapped up, horn was broken, so we have a whistle, interior lights broken lenses, radio didn't work, the anchor was an 8 pound mushroom anchor you would use for a johnboat, would certainly not hold a 24' pontoon. The life vest they provided were just as old as the boat. We only had 4 we could use old of the 10 they sent. There's no tow bar to pull from, so the drivers says yeah you will have to tie onto one of the toons, really??? I expressed my frustration with the delivery driver, which went no where, I called the office and talked to a lady who said she had only been answering phones for a few months and had never actually seen the boats. (Third red flag). I asked at this point was this a company or was this just individuals renting out their boats and cabins? She answered just individuals, they don't have an actual office. She advised she would get with the owner of the boat to see if they can do anything but they didn't have any other boats available. By now I'm frustrated but I have 6 grandkids ages 13-8 looking at me excited to go boating and waiting to get on the boat. They could care less what it looks like or if it's going to leave us stranded, they just want to go. lol I go ahead and take the boat and make the best of what we have throughout the day. When they pick up the boat I was expecting a little humility and at least an half ass excuse, but all I get was "sorry this wasn't what you expected, thank for re ring with us though". We check on other rentals in the area the next morning and found that they actually have newer boats and are quite a bit less expensive. I also went back and reviewed their website to see if I missed anything and over reacted. What I found was a couple of the reviews were from the delivery guys family, the delivery driver is actually in the pictures. So I wonder if the 23 reviews are actually real at this point. Moral of the story, don't stop doing research when you find a good website or good reviews. Keep checking around, we paid 730 dollars for a 22 year old worn out boat and motor for 8 hours and could have gotten a 2 year old boat with a bigger motor, for 520 dollars at 2 other rental places right down the road. If you're renting your own equipment that's great, just be upfront about it !
