Ghost ship

Can't guarantee you the wonderful weather we had, but the guides explained the history behind the ghost fleet in Mallows Bay, took time to answer questions and appeared to truly enjoy their job as guides. Our mission to explore the half sunken hulls was conducted with the utmost concern for safety and yet we did not feel restricted. We found their rates reasonable for the quality of the tour that was provided. Kid friendly. Senior friendly. This is a wonderful and informative activity for all who wish to participate. Enjoy!

The mallow's bay ghost fleet tour is so much fun! The equipment (kayaks, vests) is great. The kayak launch made it easy to get in and out of the water. Our guides were so knowledgeable about the history of the area and we saw a lot of neat things! Aside from the ships we saw Eagles and Osprey.

Absolutely love this place! The shop is located on a quiet waterfront with scenic views and great Maryland wildlife. The Kayaks are in great condition and the staff is super helpful and so friendly! Planning on spending many of my summer days here!

I found out about Atlantic Kayak Co through Thingstododc. I was looking for unique 4th of July activity events. Honestly, I am tired of going to crowded and unkempt places for the 4th of July. I found something more relaxing and special... a kayak lesson plan with fireworks around 9 PM. My fiance and I arrived at 7 PM. The place was easy to find, and there is a parking lot structure with restrooms. I am pretty sure this place is busy all the time because they were low on toilet paper, so I recommend bringing your own on water activity events . Down by the creek there are porta potties. The Mattawoman Creek is breathtaking! Such a pretty and relaxing view. It was everything I expected for a kayaking trip. The instructors are all very friendly and helpful. We got separated into groups, and they taught us how to kayak. Then our adventure began on the water. We saw egrets and heard croaking tree frogs. We saw the sunset. The sight and sound of nature made my 4th spectacular. I cant wait to visit Atlantic Kayak Co again this summer. If you want to do something naturey I total recommend this place!

Judy was incredibly knowledgeable about the flora, fauna, and the history of the ships "buried" in Mallows Bay.

Quick, kid friendly hiking trail with water access and views. We explored multiple trails ( because…read morewe got lost, turned back and took the house trail to the water and then returned to the parking lot through the marsh trail). We went on a Sunday evening in May and didn't run into any wildlife ( thankfully). The hill from the house to the water is steep which prompted us to find the trail further down the beach area to return to the parking lot. If you're lucky enough to go when the house is open the view from the long driveway through the doors to the water is breathtaking. Their rock memorial facing Africa and acknowledging the history of slavery on this land was refreshing to see. Kid friendly rating : 8/10 for walkable kids ( not stroller friendly) Bonus is the numerous historical facts signs. Restrooms: I saw a Port-o-potty but that's not a lifestyle I wish to explore. In an emergency situation I'm sure it's nice to have. Small parking lot.

[Coronavirus review] No worries about crowds here; the tiny…read moreparking lot on the main road would struggle to fit a half dozen cars, and it's a fair walk in from there, through some anonymous forest and abandoned buildings. At least there's no admission fee. Doesn't seem like much; maybe the reason no one's here is that there is no reason for them to be? But when you emerge to the small mansion that once headed a plantation, you'll be greeted with a great view and a dizzying variety of scenery from there on out. A quick jaunt down the grassy hill through a field with a gnarly-looking cactus or two leads to a beach. No, really! Bondi it ain't, but if you can satisfy yourself with a small strip of sand, little wavelets on the brackish river driven in by a mild breeze, and a variety of seashells, shorebirds, and other signs of life, this is a successful outing. This is to say nothing of the thick woods, manicured orchard of some sort, and a wetland filled with the sort of birds who seemed irked that even a single person happened by. Maryland has this sort of dynamism in aggregate, but it's amazing the diversity of environments you can experience by walking for ten minutes in this sort of park. There are drawbacks aplenty; bugs will be there and there's a lot of plastic trash and washed up tires. And honestly, the place seems to house potential to be more; if I could take a boat across to Mason Neck, I'd totally do it (not that Maryland is ever likely to cooperate with its Confederate Commonwealth of a neighbor). But I got twenty minutes walking to one end of this beach, and well over two hours in a park where I thought I'd struggle to spend one. Beggars can't be choosers, and unless you happen to have a waterside mansion, we're all begging for a bit of the great outdoors.

Booking was super easy and once that was done, I received regular emails from Vino 301 and texts until the day of the tour. We were picked up this past Saturday (4/20) at the appointed location and time. We boarded a very well appointed van with about 4 rows of seats that accommodated us all. I felt very safe on the rides to and from the wineries. Our host and driver were super friendly and treated us like royalty. Prior to arriving at each venue, we were provided some background and things we should know in advance. She more or less herded us from place to place, which was actually quite comforting. I felt very well taken care of AND seen as I was the only one on the tour not drinking, but I was provided water and other beverages over the course of the day. Oh, and the lunch we received was AMAZING. So much food! I had the roast beef BLT, which came with a bag of chips, pasta salad, and a dessert. Definitely recommend!
