Dr. Azzato took his time with me, even sat and chit chatted about why are in the area and for how long. Super nice, diagnosed my problem, treated it, and I was on my way. She was also very caring and a great bedside manner. All of the staff was wonderful! Dr Satterwhite did my surgery, and he had been great since my very first visit a year ago. Front lobby check in staff also very warm and friendly. This is my second time at Dosher and both were great. Hopefully I want have too much pain but recovery is long. They were pretty busy with surgeries this morning, but everyone seemed well taken care of. Kudos to all the staff!

I hesitated, but what choices did I have. I am very critical about the different facilities, after all, a terrified patient and family members are depending on the good care and everyone's Knowledge, competence, professionalism, bedside manners, and hospital septic condition let alone diet. One's life depends on the hospital team. The ER Doctor on duty was extremely busy (as expected in ER). Nurses and aides tried to get all my vital signs blood test, EKG, Cat Scan and information. Despite their busy schedule, all managed to be congenial and kind. despite my lack of patience. Dr. Kaitlyn Reta came and intelligently explained the ifs, buts and why's of my symptoms. She was professional, and factual. Dr. Reta listened and took the time to explain the complications of one affected organs which compounded the other organs. My collapsed veins were a struggle to work with for the technicians, but these nurses and technicians were gentle and patience. It's good to know that Dosher Memorial Hospital has elevated their standards and one can be proud to say that Southport now has a reputable Hospital. LAJS

Very knowledgable, positive and a great communicator, but it turned out I needed surgery. After shoulder surgery I went back to Carolina Strong for three months of physical therapy. I cannot recommend them more highly. Darrelle was my therapist. She is knowledgeable, patient and encouraging. Each visit we set realistic goals that were challenging but attainable. Sometimes progress seemed so slow to me, but I trusted her, did what she told me (and not more) and slowly but surely my range of motion and strength returned. It helps with creating a calming and distraction free space. They have a bathroom and filtered water, safe to leave things in cubbies, blocks and bolsters and even some mats if you need to borrow one. Their schedule is varied throughout the week, including Hatha, sculpt, Hot vinyasa, slow flow and vinyasa. A highlight is they also have a physcial therapist and massage therapist within reach, so you can connect to either of those to help build your spiritual/emotional/mental health as well as physical. Finding a local doctor who can accommodate you during crisis as well as an excellent diagnostician is a hard find to begin with. Lucky for me a family member highly recommended Dr. Karen Wood. Dr. Wood welcomed me into her practice and her nurse Angela is always so welcoming, funny, such a pleasure to be around and thorough. Together, along with the rest of the medical and office staff, Melissa, Karin, Monica, Kristina and Dee, this team is second to none. An example of their, "Above and beyond" approach is when I needed support locally to participate in a clinical trial for the prevention of cancer reoccurrence. I would have to fly to St. Louis from NC every month for 3 months. I needed to be checked 15 days after the vaccine was administered and couldn't fly back for that. I also wanted to avoid driving to Duke Medial (7 hrs round trip) were my Oncologist is. The clinical trial Director approved Dr. Wood to oversee the exams in between visits. Angela, Dr. Wood's nurse jumped through hoops getting all the necessary paperwork processed. When something didn't show up, she was on it. I can't thank her enough for all that she did for me. Also, a special thanks and loads of gratitude to Dr. Wood for agreeing to all this and always having my back. I highly recommend Dr. Wood and her Family Medical Center. The staff are friendly and always welcoming. And no one beats my Angela!!!
