Ron and Ryan are great to work with! We called them a few days ahead when we were arriving in Plymouth from out of town because our dingy engine wouldn't start. They met us at the marina and picked up the engine, but they got it started and told us they couldn't find anything wrong with it! They did change the fuel line connection to the tank and brought the engine back along with checking the oil and the gear oil. They put the engine back in and we have no more problems so we're very happy with their service. Few people are willing to meet someone at the dock. read more

These guys are great. Had an insurance claim. They worked directly with the insurance agency and rebuilt everything perfectly. Even ordered the parts ahead of time to cut back on delays. The beginning of May this year I purchased a boat from someone on craigslist and I more or less got ripped off. The whole MerCruiser part of the motor was shot the gimbal lower unit etc. I took it to Ron at Atlantic boat repairs he assess the damage, and gave me an estimate of $3800. This was a 91 engine that going into it was in rough shape and I heard OK things about Atlantic boat repair so I figured after spending the money for the boat I needed at least to get it on the water so we could use it and possibly sell it even though we would lose some money we would not be out the initial investment. We had purchased the boat to help with our special needs son learn self-confidence responsibility some common sense lessons etc. Prior to the work I had asked the owner Ron if I invest this $4000 to repair what you see is wrong with the motor will I have a solid sturdy seagoing vessels, Ron answered quickly yes without a doubt your motors going to be under warranty for three years you'll have nothing to worry about., So my wife and I discussed it, And decided to borrow the money to get the boat fixed. Atlantic had a boat for two months and it was finally done August 3 Got the ball back around two weeks ago and I took the boat out to her three times for a couple hours and it ran nicely. It's still didn't start real well and it stalled out here and there but from where was the where it is at that time was OK for the moment. Last Friday I took the boat out of Green harbor I rolled out of the marina when I push the throttle forward the boat immediately stop. Tried to started a couple of times but there was no way of starting the motor. Called Seatow they came out looked at a couple of things there was power in the batteries there was plenty of gas there was plenty of oil we couldn't find out the immediate reason. I called Ron at Atlantic boat because clearly the engine was under warranty and he said to bring the boat right over. If they're having the boat for about a half an hour he texted me back and he told me that he would get back to me with a price list of what he was going to need to do first I said, what is wrong with the boat he replied I don't know I'll have to remove the lower unit in order to find out. So I asked him why would you need to order things if you didn't know what was wrong? And on top of that why would I have to pay for it if it's under warranty? He told me he is shored me it was nothing that he has done on the motor in that I would probably have to replace the whole motor. Well of course my heart dropped and I got sick because not only was he not taking responsibility for the repairs he did, he's been in business for 40 years and told me I would have a see where the boat only to go out for about three hours and have the whole motor Seized and need to be replaced, so my wife and I are into the boat for $8000 so far and the boat still doesn't run. I begged and pleaded with Ron to help me out and what he told me was to come pick up my boat that he wasn't going to help me anymore, and he threatened to charge me for the hours for looking at the work he already did. It was OK when I had $4000 he would work on the boat but after that he won't have anything to do with me in my biggest hour of need to get this boat repair. For me, I should've read these yelp reviews ahead of time because they do not look favorable. $4000 for us is a lot of money, we weren't looking for anything for free we were looking for help and he slammed the door in our faces. For me it makes me lose faith in humanity. This lesson has cost me $10,000 of money we certainly do not have any if I could save anyone the hard ache of hiring a company that's been there for 38 years with mediocre reviews to take it vantage of common people I would suggest you go someplace else that's my opinion and my opinion only. UPDATE- Had boat mechanic come by and look at the boat, I first showed them my bill and repairs from Atlantic, he said I was way over charged for normal maintenance and the repairs were somewhat inflated.... Just gets better and better, we've spent close to 10000 for a boat that still doesn't run at all!! read more

These guys are real hit-or-miss and not very consistent (particularly if you catch their owner Ron on a bad day). In my opinion, Atlantic Boat Repairs is THE junk dealer of boat motors. If you are interested in an old scrap motor that was repaired to run (at least for the short term) than they are your shop. They call this process "remanufacturing outboards", but based on my experience with them, this is, at best, an optimistic term. It's more like planned obsolescence - 1) take a trash motor, 2) recondition it to the point that it runs, 3) wait for it to break, 4) repeat. The simple fact is that if you want a reliable motor that won't leave you stranded at sea, by all means steer clear of them. There's an old nautical saying, "Always have more boat under you than you think you'll need." Here I'd say another adage is appropriate - "You get what you pay for." Unfortunately Atlantic Boat Repairs only sells reconditioned garbage and often offers substandard service as the cherry on top. read more

These guys are good. Not only good but trustworthy and great to do business with. I bought my boat from them last year and had to have it serviced on some minor issues that would not be covered by any warrantee in the World, they took care of me and covered the charge. This week I had them install some electronics and they did a great job and had the boat back to me in time for summer fun. All this at a reasonable price. These guys are absolute thieves. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. I was charged $1,000 for replacing a 30$ key switch. They charged 3.5 hours to remove a small plastic storage box in my center console, that they must not have realized was screwed in on the inside, which left nice gouge marks on my center console. They also didn't even mount a bracket to the new key switch, just glued it in. Then I realized they did more damage then they fixed; they knocked out a plastic accessory cover on my engine housing and lost it, knocked off my trailer bearing cover and lost it, and they broke the corners off my control panel when they removed the screws and never secured it. When I called and asked them about all the issues, they just denied they did any of it. Also they recommended replacing my control cables, thankfully I declined, once I got home my shifter wouldn't work (it's been perfectly fine for 10 yrs). Find another boat mechanic. read more

I bought a 20' Boston Whaler Outrage from Ron Cribbe in 1986, and every fall for the past 30 years, I have trailered my boat to Atlantic Boat for winter servicing, storage, and repair. He and Ryan-his right hand man-are extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of boats---engines, hulls, electronics, etc. They have extremely high quality standards, and won't release my boat in the spring until they are satisfied that EVERY THING is in working order. They are also great at customer service--communicating and consulting regularly so you always know what is going on and what needs to be done. On more than a few occasions, Ron and/or Ryan have made the trip to my mooring in Hingham when I have encountered a problem---saving me the aggravation of trailering the boat to Plymouth. Do not go here!! Ron is extremely shady and unprofessional; I spent over $3,000 at his shop and my boat still does not run properly! Last year I had Atlantic rebuild the carburetors, clean the fuel tank, replace the thermostat and water pump, change all the fluids, remove the vro to go premix, fine tune the engine, replace the wheel bearing on the trailer, etc. You name it, it was done. When I picked up the boat I noticed that the wheels on the trailer were lose. Because I'm a mechanic, I instantly knew it was a wheel bearing issue. I called Ron and we agreed that he would fix it next year because it was so late in the season that I decided to winterize the boat. This year I launched the boat and had to take it right out of the water because the engine would not run on full throttle. I called Ron and brought my boat back thinking he would make it right considering I didn't even use the boat and spent all this money on an overhaul last year. Wrong! He told me the carburetors needed to be cleaned, which seemed odd because they were completely rebuilt before being winterized. After going back and forth I caved in and paid $500 to have them cleaned because all the boat places in the area were completely booked and I wanted my boat back. Regarding the trailer issue, he said water must of got into the wheel bearings and they were ruined. Funny, Ron was the only one that had the trailer in the water; the trailer was in the water a total of two times. After going back and forth again, he told me he would replace the bearings but after that I needed to take my boat elsewhere. Extremely rude! And he really thought I would go back there?! After picking the boat up from having the carbs rebuilt a second time within a year, the boat won't idle and consistenly stalls out. Ron says he'll warranty his work for 30 days, but after my horrific experiences at his shop (not even taking into consideration the fact he told me not to come back), I'll take my business elsewhere. Don't waste your time and money going to Altantic Boat Repair, go to a reputable shop where the owners treat their customers with respect and who will actually fix your boat. read more
