Things were quick and no issues. We had some extra time before heading off so we got the chance to look around, grab a snack and even sit for a bit before take off. Not a lot of food options, which isn't too surprising for such a small airport, and that was truly the big downside. The only restaurants I saw were Bar Fly and the Chocolate Cafe, both of which were decent. If you're needing food before a flight it's a good spot to grab a quick bite.

We arrived at Chicago airport to catch our connection, ran to the gate, the plane was there, but the doors had been shut. And once the doors are shut, that's it. (There were 18 people at the gate who should have been on that plane.) Staff handed us a card with a QR Code, and no other info was given. We went to the baggage claim area, but our luggage was not there. We found an employee who told us we had to "request a retrieval of our luggage". Would have been great if the staff at the gate shared this info with us. Long story short, 2-1/2 hours later, we finally connected with our luggage. Bathrooms were substandard compared to ones at other airports. Old and not the cleanest.

A major advantage here is its proximity to the city itself. Yet, I don't deem it a bad one. In my occasions to regularly travel yet not a professional airport reviewer by any means, and not a business traveler - but a mainly fun and demands trekker, I have developed as succinct a process for measuring the worthiness of each airport visited. My criteria are: 1) ease of access to and from public or private ground transportation: 4.0; 2) convenient parking when having to leave vehicle or dropping off: 4.0; 3) access and convenience of retrieving and dropping off rental vehicles: 3.5; 4) atmosphere, ambience, public facilities, seating areas and access to communications, charging and Wi-Fi: 3.5; 5) overall human customer service - including but not limited to ticket counter, TSA, Hospitality, Retail, Support Services, Restaurant and Baggage Handler knowledge, communication, attitude and demeanor: 3.0; 6) ease of flight information access throughout facility via signage, boards, screens or clear understandable PA system announcements: 3.5; 7) distance, maneuverability, access and convenience of trekking from gate to gate and/or concourse to concourse for connecting flights: 4.0; 8) quantity, value, convenience, quality and comfort of eateries and/or retailers: 3.0; and last, but not least 9) baggage handling, claims and retrieval location, process and lost and found assistance: 4.5. Taking all the aforementioned categories, I've devised a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 being the worst and 5 being the best an airport can be! This airport rates a: 4.1. Most positive point(s) at this airport are: few and far between, but considering its construction phase, easy to maneuver, clean yet maize like. The most negative points here are: again, the lack of amenities plus. One caveat, while visiting this airport there was a considerable amount of construction in progress, which I am sure affected the overall outcome of my review. I therefore retain a prerogative to reevaluate Ft. Wayne International at a later date.

Goshen Municipal Airport has a clean, spacious lobby area for passengers. There are multiple…read morehangars for planes / helicopters. They host various events throughout the year such as the incredibly popular Freedom Fest Air Show, which brought in acts including the Shockwave Jet Truck and fighter jets. The show ended with a big fireworks show. They also hosted a 5K run on the airport runways. If you are interested in getting a pilot's license, there is a great flight school here too!

A few start up airlines have operated out of GYY but unfortunately these airlines have failed in these difficult economic times. If a major airline starts service here, this airport can be very successful. This could relieve traffic at O'Hare and Midway. Many of those in northwest Indiana could benefit as well. The perpetual road construction projects and traffic on I-90 and I-94 out to O'Hare has cause many travelers to miss their flights. It's close proximity to the South Shore Railroad makes access to this airport very easy to get to. Once their master plan is complete, I would hope service from the major carriers start up. Boeing parks their corporate jets here at GYY.
