Why 5 stars? Because this was a fun family outing. --- --- --- I drove by Atkinson Farm a year or two ago and always had it in the back of mind as a place to visit, ever since. Recently, we saw them share on Facebook that they had some strawberries ready for picking and we basically hopped out of bed and headed over there. You pay $3 per person and $2 per bucket to enter. My wife waited in life while I took our son to play on the playground, which he really enjoyed. Once she was done, we headed back to the strawberries. There were several areas you could choose from, and it was pretty obvious which areas had been picked over already and which hadn't. Some sections would only have a few decent strawberries, while others were full of only the biggest and brightest. We nearly filled up two buckets and it was only $24. Sure, we had to pick them and wash them, but we had enough strawberries to last us an eternity. And they were pretty tasty too. The market where you pay for the berries after also had other various produce items and meats. I added on a jar of pickles on top of the strawberry haul. We will probably have to make this an annual tradition! read more

The strawberries had no flavor. Zero. I could not believe I had just picked two baskets full and when I got them home and cleaned and tasted them (many of them as I thought it must be just a few like that), but none I tasted and none I gave to family members to taste had any flavor. The next time I pick strawberries you can bet I'll be tasting them in the field. read more

Went to this place after passing by hundreds of times since we moved to the area. The entire staff was rude and racist. Being friendly to only white people and giving side eyes to everyone else. Keep in mind that I was born in the US and so was my wife and son but because we aren't white they gave side eyes and bad customer service to us. Now randomly see an Atkinson farms post on tiktok and someone said to google Mike Atkinson the owner of the farms and I see this article from the Houston chronicle ' Texas HS Referee Mike Atkinson Suspended 1 Year for Making Racist Comments'. Makes sense now. If you aren't white then you will feel the hostility and racism the second you step into this place. read more

Yes, I love this market. Always great food and nice folks. I love all the fresh vegs and fruits. Everyone is so nice and helpful. They always have the best and freshest vegetables and fruit. I wouldn't go anywhere else for all the things I need. The prices are great also. For seniors they are so helpful to carry out things like large bags and especially watermelons. When those young ladies are working, they can pick up those large watermelons like paper bags and so willing to carry out for you. Atkinson Farms is such a cute and family friendly spot. The staff in the front office are very welcoming. We came out to pick some strawberries and had a blast! They have a great shaded area with picnic tables where you could sit down and enjoy picnicking while the kiddos play on the playground. First let me just say upon entering the building there were three young girls working not one of them said welcome In how can we help not knowing if it's that person first time are what I had to say hello to them then I ask about the strawberries and the response was unbelievable also maybe it would be helpful to post on the site when strawberry season ends so people don't have to make a blank trip not everyone likes berries! My first time visiting I probably will never go back it's a shame that my experience had to be like this! I brought my kids to pick blackberries and they had a great time. This small farm is great for a quick outdoor adventure that helped teach about farming. A big plus was the playground, the sandpit, the covered patio area, and the live donkey. I recommend you bring bug spray though. The mosquitos caused our trip to be cut a bit short. read more

Wanting to take my granddaughters to pick berries over their spring break, I checked Yelp to get the address of Atkinson's Farm. Read reviews about bad customer service there, and they are true. The tall, brown-haired cashier woman was downright nasty. The facility posts that visitors can bring their own containers, but this is what they do not post: They charge $3. just to enter the field. If you brought plastic bags for your container, you're told they do not allow them, then offered yellow plastic buckets. But you cannot borrow them, you must buy them. One in our group had brought a straw basket, so we opted to use just that. Later, I set the basket on counter, the woman weighed them, and I paid $36 for them. Before leaving, I mentioned it would be helpful if their rules were posted so visitors would know to not bring plastic bags so they wouldn't have to pay for buckets. The woman immediately turned hostile and snapped if I "didn't like the rules, then don't come back!" I tried explaining I had no issue with their rules, only the fact that they are not posted. She kept on snapping if I "didn't like the rules, then don't come back, just don't come back!" in front of my young grandkids. No employer would allow staff to be so blatantly rude, so I presume she's related to the business owners. Previous reviewers have mentioned her, yet she's still there. I will take her good advice to not go back! read more

I had a wonderful time picking strawberries with my husband! Even though it was towards the end of the season we had a nice time gathering whatever was left. The produce inside was also wonderful! Loved the honey jalapeño mustard and the blue cheese stuffed olives. 10/10 would go again read more

I picked some strawberries there. These were the best strawberries of my life. They didn't just taste different from supermarket strawberries. They didn't just taste better. After all, supermarket strawberries can differ and improve in meaningful ways from season to season, box to box, or even within the same box. No, these strawberries were better than even the best in-season supermarket strawberries I've had. For these strawberries didn't taste like what I knew "strawberries" to taste like from the supermarket. These strawberries tasted like lemonade. They were sour, like the best supermarket strawberries, but sourer still, and sweet - the kind of sweetness that's so rare to experience outside foods with added sugar. I think the closest thing I've had to this - outside lemonade, of course - was pineapple, especially the Pinkglow pineapple varietal that was bred to be extra-sweet. But this review can't just be about the strawberries I picked, so I'll have to dock a star. I was very disappointed that there was a donkey near the playground area, but one couldn't actually pet the donkey. One woman there when I visited said she had petted the donkey, and the sign existed specifically so little kids wouldn't pet the donkey, but I'm not violating the rules just because one or two people grant themselves the extralegal power to add loopholes. On one hand, it's good the playground is big enough for a big kid (or an adult) to feel comfortable in: it's a novelty and there were few other people around at the time I was visiting, so I decided to check it out. Yet, on the other hand, the roller-slides were quite the jolt. I don't know why the slide would be a roller slide instead of a regular slide. I've never wondered what it would be like to be airport luggage. I wonder why they'd even make it big enough for tall people to use if the roller slide would feel so unfun (and I'm charitably assuming it's not equally unfun to children). read more

Though there was some weird/ passive aggressive comments from one particular staff member/or owner not too sure if they where having a cranky day, but well enough to make you feel uncomfortable, nothing too bad. Kinda have to go in with the attitude of "listening through one ear and out the other" if anyone is interested in going. WE LOVE IT HERE! We went to Froberg's Farm in Alvin, TX in the past and wanted to find something closer since we live in Spring. And we found this gem. 10/10. Very family oriented and friendly, this is one of the first things we noticed after parking. One of the staff member's named Teresa is very sweet, greeted us once we parked and showed us where to go. The parking is plentiful. The strawberries are $3.99/lb. The hours are slightly different from the sign. The staff member inside told us they close at 1:30PM on weekends and close at 5:30PM on weekdays. Also, at least during right now, staff mentioned if you bring the bucket back next month - you can pick the blackberries & don't have to purchase another bucket. They have fresh vegetables, milk, canned items & drinks available for purchase inside. There's a nice sized playground with lots of swings, slides, etc. for the kiddos & there's a covered patio area with benches and tables for shade/to hang out while kids play, if needed. We also saw a donkey! We'll definitely be back & SO glad this farm is up the street from us. read more

I have been hearing about this farm lately online, and I have driven by it countless times but never actually taken the time to go inside. Now, they don't have strawberry picking all the time, especially now that it is summer, but they did have strawberry and blackberry picking in March and April and currently they have sunflower picking where you can cut a flower for a dollar and take it with you. I think it's a little bit misleading because you think that they charge by the pound for the berries and charge by the pound for the fruit, but you also have to pay the admission fee of each child of going into the field, and pay for the buckets separately which of course every little bit starts to add up quickly. I did not have time this day to look around the store that they have but I definitely will be back to look around some more and get some fresh groceries from here. I like that they have play area for the kids to play in, they have a separate sand pit and a covered area with little toys which is the main reason for the stars and honestly a huge part of why we want to come back. I would recommend to go here at least once and try it out, even if the Texas sun is beating down. I would also love to come in autumn so we can check out the things they have to do during the fall harvest. read more

I love this place so much. I travel just to come here. We went berry picking last weekend, and I was so pleased. They were very forthright with what was great to pick and what was plentiful. The bathrooms were spotless and great to have. I always buy tomatoes there when I can. I am a big fan of their produce overall. It's nice to have them open for the season again. read more

Who knew that produce boxes could be so much fun? (So I had to start off the new year with my first review from Atkinson Farms). Have been picking up fruit and veggie boxes from Atkinson Farms for the past few months at Local Foods and the Dish Society. Filled with seasonal local products, like red and golden beets, dinosaur (lacinato) kale, carrots, winter and summer squash, Brussels sprouts, turnips, melons, red peppers, cabbage and more, it has been a challenging culinary adventure cooking with the latest harvest. Fast forward to the holidays and trips to the Urban Harvest Farmers Market where Mike Atkinson brings a large selection of his latest and freshest crops every Saturday, rain or shine. So nice to be able to make a customized box of goodies. Want cauliflower? Choose from purple, orange or white. Love radishes? Pick watermelon, French breakfast or daikon white. Add some broccoli, butternut squash and purple, sweet and white potatoes to complete a very full produce box. Was also so nice to chat to Mike about what to grow and when to plant in my own backyard garden. Thanks for the tips on onions and tomatoes. The onions are thriving. The farm up in Spring will have an open house in March. Can't wait to visit and check out their market and U-pick garden. Until then, I'll be picking up their delicious Farmers Market boxes closer to home. read more

The senior management workers were very rude. The middle aged woman said that if someone can't pay thelat they need to go out into the field and work for it. I was blown back by a response like that. It also was not clear that when you pick you have to buy all in your basket. A man was leaving their shop upset about paying $50 but we didn't know what he was talking about until we went to check out. Very disappointed went a while back and it was a good experienc so I brough a friend and her family with me this time (their first time) but from this experience I will not be back and certainly not recommend this place to others. read more

I came here for strawberry picking this Saturday, and it was such a fun experience!! The people are so nice there. It was such a cute place to go for an afternoon. The strawberries were amazing!! They give you a basket ($3), and you get to keep it. After you pick to your heart's content, it's $3.99/lb, which is a super fair price. It's an adorable place!! Cute little farm for kids to pick strawberries. Clean, I did not see the facilities to comment on them. There is a little store to buy different produce and preserved items. They charge an entry fee to pick strawberries and there is a small fee per basket. Not sure if they are organic. Fun for farm pics and strawberries were nice size. They have a nice play ground and a cute train ride. Service was meh, it was like being in an assembly line, did not have that welcoming feeling. read more

No real time updates, don't bother calling the number no one will answer, no one is managing the Facebook account either, so we showed up only to find out that they had run out of ripe strawberries. Fear not, you can pay to use a playground and a dirty sandbox filled with broken toys and shards of plastic. Don't expect a discount for not being able to even step on the field. The staff were a a group of youths with no basic customer service skills. The produce for sale in the building were also of lower quality than what you would get at H‑E‑B or something which was especially sad. read more

We love Atkinson farms! We purchased their produce at the urban harvest farmers market as well as the braeswood farmers market. My husband was off on Monday and I noticed they have strawberries to pick via their Facebook page! We had so much fun! Took the tour of the place via the cute little tractor! So fun! Lovely experience berry picking here. Bring your own bag or bucket or pay $1.50 to borrow theirs. We paid $3.99 a pound (at the end of April), and the berries were good. Not the best I've ever eaten, but worth the trade off for the experience. The employee inside the market was super kind to us, and patient with the many toddlers visiting that day. They don't have a real bathroom for customers (just a port-o-potty that only gets changed over on Mondays), just as a heads up. read more

Very bad service.. The owner has arrogant attitude. We are 1st time there so we r not sure how to use the groupon! She did not want to help and offer very bad service! We were told we can have 1 lb strawberries n 4.25 credit for the other products from the store with the Groupon.. So we did. I stood in line to pay for my stuffs.. I show the voucher to the other lady in the cashier from my phone( which it said ok from the groupon) but the lady wanted me to pull out the page with mark as redeem for her to make sure I marked as redeem.. It make sense so I was looking for it. Just less than a min. The owner which is the other old lady in the cashier push my stuff away rudely and ask ppl behind me so she can take care them.. She never smile to us but other white customers at the store! End up I complain a lit with her then she began to say it was my fault to use the groupon! I end up have to pay more I don't even know if she calculated my stuff right. She said she will never welcome me to come back again cuz she always has her own customers. I hope she will by that kinda attitude. But I wonder If you have good business why bother to sell groupon? I will never come back here! I don't even want to give a star but yelp requires it!!!
