There was a short time that the store was closed in 2010 after the passing of the last remaining original family proprietor until the present owners reopened the doors in 2011 but that's like splitting hairs. Believe it or not they still carries staples like bread, butter and milk, but also other essential items for mountain life like local vegetables, jams, and honey to rakes, paint, plumbing and things that many people have never seen. The old original scales and carts can still be found scattered around the store amongst so many other things from the past that would be nearly impossible to find these days even if you have an Amazon Prime account. Although there has been some technology installed, the old cash register from 1913 still sits close by and is still operational if there is ever a need. In one section of the store there are two trifold posters with pictories and reports of the history. The walls display more pictures telling the history. Throughout the store are also antique items telling the history of items sold in the store. The store sells local produce and grocery items as well as just about any common item you might need. M.A. Pace General Store is also a place where you can visit with your kids who will enjoy Mayfield Dairy's delicious ice cream.
