I started with the Caldo Gallego, a hearty broth (with an offal aroma) made with fatty pork, potatoes, greens, and other vegetables; and the Caldeirada de Calamares, a hearty stew of calamari pieces, potatoes, peas, beans, and carrots in a mildly spiced sauce. For our mains, I tried the Chipirones Fritos, or lightly battered and fried calamari served with chips and salad; and the Lenguado a la plancha (a half grilled sole fish) served with rice and salad. We ended our meal with the classic Tarta de Santiago, a sweet yellow cake made with course almond flour. Overall, the food here was simple but delicious and came at an unbelievable value, accompanied by bread and water for the table. No wonder this restaurant gets so popular!

San Jaime has satisfied some deep seated seafood craving in me. Galicia is a seafood powerhouse and everywhere in Santiago there seem to be places ready to satisfy your deepest cravings for seafood. However, hidden away in this little corner of flowing cyclamens one finds a Wondrium of the Sea! Delicious seafood: barnacles, razor clams, prawns, lobster, and crab. The service is warm and hospitable. The booze is free flowing, tasty, and peculiar with a selection of local Galician liqueurs, incl. The basic white (grows hairs on your nipples), herbal (with local Galician herbs and way too easy to drink), and coffee (a shot of espresso with an alcoholic punch). Top it all off with the Banofi Banana and Caramel dessert and you are ready for your Northern Siesta. Santiago de Compostela, come for the pilgrimage but stay for the seafood. All your sins will most certainly be absolved.

Highly recommendable restaurant!…read more My friend from Santiago reserved this place for us - we were 8 people total - and we had a brilliant evening... We shared a number of dishes, mainly seafood, and these were delicious. The house wine was also good. The portions are abundant... Let the restaurant prepare a variety of desserts to share! Very yummy!!! The setup of the place is typical for this area. Big wooden tables... Stone walls... The ceiling covered with greens (i.e. plants)... Very nice! The service and prices were good. We much enjoyed the live music they played later on with particular instruments.. Galician music and dance! :) Make a reservation to be sure of a table... Also for lunch as this place is usually packed. ;) Enjoy!
