Wonder Childhood Discovery - Child exploring indoor play area

    Wonder Childhood Discovery

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a stunning welcome sign and balloons, which immediately made us feel both taken care of and truly celebrated. Every detail was thoughtfully arranged, making the day not only stress-free but genuinely special for everyone. As a working mom juggling a side business, I cannot express how much I appreciated the simplicity and ease the team provided. Our guests were thrilled, especially since we were able to enjoy both indoor and outdoor playtime. It was fantastic watching the kids explore, laugh, and make memories in a space so well designed for fun and connection. We regularly visit Wonder for playdates with our littles, and it never fails to deliver a delightful experience. The staff is always warm and attentive, creating a welcoming atmosphere that encourages families to truly unplug and reconnect. If anyone is searching for a spot to bond with their kids and take a break from the distractions of daily life, Wonder is the place to be. Spending a few hours here, watching your children's eyes light up, is such a gift.

However, if you are a parent or caregiver by yourself with a stroller, it can be a very difficult experience. There were adults watching me struggle putting down my stroller, gathering my bags, and making sure my 1.5 year old didn't run off as I carried her up the stairs on my hip and my stroller in my other hand. I was surprised that there were multiple people watching me from the window including staff and no one offered to help. Same goes for leaving. Be mindful that there is no ramp, and no automatic doors so it is a very difficult experience when you're alone. This should be "known" because the building is an old Leesburg building. I didn't understand until I was there. I didn't find the staff particularly friendly or warm or helpful, they did their job and that's fine. I probably would not go back especially if I was solo.

I want it all to myself, but I'm still compelled to tell others about this gem because of the way it has stuck me. Sitting atop the the Cacapon Mountains of West Virginia is a tucked away but easy to find respite that features exclusive mountain views, deciduous beauty, well marked trails, and recreation for kids, couples, and the solo traveler. I personally have enjoyed huge and manicured tent sights....camper and RV hook ups....and lodge-style cabins with cable, internet, and streaming services. Want the woods to rock you to sleep? Done. The tour is aimed at what children want, is rapid fire, shows kids what there is to do and that it is not only alright, but expected that they will push the buttons, sound the horns, ring the bells, touch and try, and generally have a good time. No hard sell here, just encouragement of fun. The show itself -- and I've seen several -- is delightful and captivating. No hushing the kids as laughter and responses called out are encouraged. Not rowdy or noisy, just fun and interactive. After the show you get to meet the puppets and see how they work. Discussion and questions are welcomed. I've taken my grandchildren and other kids ranging from toddlers to 10 year olds, including a three year old on the autism spectrum, and they all had a blast. Be sure to budget time after the show because the kids will definitely want to explore some more and try out everything from funny sunglasses to wear to photo boards. The owner is an art teacher at an area elementary school and has a real affinity for children. Will take the time to engage with them, draw their favorite creature on the balloon they receive at the end of the show, and generally make them feel comfortable and happy. What are you waiting for? Go to the next performance, you won't regret it and you will return.

We just stayed at the Stone Manor Inn ("SMI") this past weekend and had a lovely time. We were in…read moretown for a family reunion and hosted a dinner party at SMI one evening that was among the highlights of the family weekend. Manisha and Prashsant, owners of Stone Manor Inn, were personally involved in making sure all went smoothly with our cocktail and dinner party, and it most certainly did! SMI is a lovely old country inn on 14 acres, I believe, with a number of different venues (indoors and out) for meetings, parties, and weddings. The rooms (7 in total) were eclectic, in a good way. All four of their largest rooms that we occupied were spacious, with king beds and spa tubs with separate showers. All were well maintained and clean upon check-in. We had no complaints. I'm not sure when we will return to the area, but when we do, we will not hesitate to return!

Luxurious bed and breakfast, nice jacuzzi and dogs are welcomed! My hubby and I came here with our…read morepup for my birthday and the $300 room (additional $30 pet fee) didn't disappoint - well worth it! I was on the fence to book this place given its hefty price tag, and glad I went for it and completely agree with the glowing 5 star reviews. The bubbly host Manisha is very warm and welcoming. She cordially gave us a 20 min tour around the property, which was built in 1908, and even gave me a bonus tour of the other rooms afterwards. She kindly answered all of our questions and didn't rush us. The Peacecock Room is the most spacious and best room (aside from the bridal suite), elaborately decorated in peacocks. We loved it! The little touches like the handmade soap, a set of wine glasses, and a wine opener made the stay so memorable and special. While the rooms aren't temperature controlled, the electric flameless fireplace kept the room warm. The double capacity jacuzzi was perfect for my hubby and I and even had lights (some of the other rooms have smaller jacuzzi, so be sure to check). The rooms were clean minus a couple of lady bugs and stink bugs (which is too be expected out in the country). Dr. Fauci's assistant stayed here and Manisha informed us of the extensive sanitation process, even the pillows and decorations are quarantined for 6 days! The backyard is well groomed and really spacious with a nice patio and heat lamp, which kept us warm sitting outside in the frigid winter. Our dog loved running around! You can see the stars and constellations really well. It would make a great wedding venue! The Christmas decorations around the property are really nice. The owners really go the extra mile and put a lot of TLC into the property. The 6 course breakfast is delicious and bursting with flavor. Between the veggie quiche, cheesy potatoes, scone, pancakes, yogurt, and fresh OJ, I was stuffed! The fresh butterscotch scone was divine and devoured my mine and my hubby's! The cheesy potato had a nice spicy kick. Everything was so fresh and delicious. All the courses come out at once on a large tray. While my hubby and I chose to sit at the communal table (the chairs are roughly 6 feet apart), you can take the tray up to your room. Manisha and her family greeted us and thoroughly explained the dishes and chatted with us for a bit, even her son made an appearance! The bed and breakfast has a nice bar with wine, cider, and alcohol based on an honor code system. Water and soda is complementary, they even had Coke 0! The complementary fudgy brownies by the breakfast area during the day were sweet and tasty. Again the little complimentary stuff gives this bed and breakfast a nice resort feel. Very relaxing stay and looking forward to coming back!
