Against my better judgment I rescheduled. Following that was a lot more scheduling problems and a frustrating game of "We'll call you back." Once I actually got in I got the impression that they are only interested in one thing...money. I only made it to the one appointment, which turned out to be wildly expensive (check with insurance first). It was obvious afterwards that this wasn't the place for me. If you go, expect to have trouble or just trust me and find another doctor.

Old fashioned doctoring. I called to schedule an appointment with Dr. Kellen Choi. I was surprised…read morethat he had multiple openings in his schedule including "tomorrow at 10:30 AM." Great! I was also told, "come in 15 minutes early so that we can update your insurance paperwork." I arrived at 10:15 AM, updated the insurance information, and sat down in the waiting room. At 11:15 AM (45 minutes after my scheduled appointment) the receptionist informed me and two other patients waiting for Dr. Choi that "he is running behind and it will be at least 45 minutes" before he could see anyone. So... I'm here at 10:30 AM and it's going to be at least NOON before he can see anyone else? And I don't even know if I'm next in line since there are two other patients waiting for him. This is clearly old fashioned doctoring. When seeing my normal doctor (who is part of the Northwestern Medical Group) I never wait more than a few minutes before I am called into the examination room. A few minutes after I am in the examination room someone is taking my vitals (temperature, blood pressure, etc.). Within 48 hours after the appointment I receive a detailed questionnaire asking me, "How long did you have to wait before you were called into the examination room? And, get this... the choices are: Less than 5 minutes / Less than 15 minutes, etc. Also, "How long did you have to wait in the examination room? And again... the choices are: Less than 5 minutes / Less than 15 minutes, etc. There is clearly the expectation that the doctors will not be overbooked and make their patients wait for them like they are gods. I'm usually a very calm person and was waiting patiently to have my shoulder looked at, but Dr. Choi's obvious overbooking put me over the top. It reminds me of the bumper sticker I once saw. It had the Bell Telephone logo and the words, "We don't care. We don't have to."

Uh, NO, I said I'd pay when I received an Itemized bill and when I finally did receive that, I saw they tried to charge an extra $200 for something my insurance already paid. The doctor himself will keep you waiting for At Least 30-45 mins for each visit and then when you finally get to see him, make sure you have your concerns listed on paper because you will Not have a chance to actually TALK about what's hurting you. He's very quick to get you out of the exam room and get the next person in. I had one visit where he left the room to take a phone call, came back in and just expected me to be ready to leave before finishing my exam! Unless you're in an absolute time crunch yourself, don't bother with this doctor. He and his office are obviously more concerned with $$$ than the health & well being of their patients.

Dr Ahsan is an amazing talented doctor. He is passionate about his work and he goes above and…read morebeyond to make patient's experience great. At first, I was very nervous about my knee surgery. I've had knee dislocations happen many times and the last one got me to the ER. Dr Ahsan suggested that I have MPFL reconstruction and tibial tubercle osteotomy. These are very serious procedures and a complete recovery takes about a year. Dr Ahsan answered a ton of my questions with patience and positivity. I appreciate his approach because his calmness and professionalism kept me calm and focused on the result, not the surgery itself. The surgery was a success and I am recovering quickly with the help of an amazing physical therapist. 3 month out I am walking, I was able to travel twice and yesterday I went back to the gym. The surgery was a challenge for me, but I am looking forward to what's coming next. I will be able to do any workout, ride a bike and run without being worried about my knee all the time. I have absolutely no regret that I trusted Dr Ahsan with this surgery and I am thankful for everything he did for me.

Dr. Ahsan has been very responsive to my calls and messages, and has an encouraging, pleasant demeanor. I would recommend him to anyone in need of orthopedic surgery, especially traumatic fracture.

I rarely take allopurinol now. 2. Cupping on my forearms and triceps provided much needed relief, as I tend to lift heavy at the gym What didn't work for me: 1. I could not tell much difference from the cupping on my back 2. If your elbows click or pop like mine, the chances are that will persist. Do not expect that to go away. The whole wet cupping therapy is highly recommended and provide amazing relief. The part where people get freaked out about is the blood, and perhaps the meditative music doesn't help that experience. Also, the therapy sessions are not likely covered by the insurance. So it can be expensive at times. Despite a couple of downsides, I still recommend the wet cupping therapy.

The therapist (ATI) recommended by Hinsdale Orthopedics was totally incompetent but I was JUST getting my range of motion back and the MUA caused swelling putting me back to square one. Had he not done that, I would've gotten my ROM back. Insurance dropped me because I "wasn't making progress". I fell into deep depression as I was an extreme athlete and now I'm a cripple with a cane.
