"…read more Run by writer and juke box enthusiast Kevern Stafford and his wife Ruth, The Waves is up on the cliffs above the south end of Scarborough - one of the nicest areas of town, from what we saw. It's a beautiful house, stylishly decorated, spotlessly clean, and really just a lovely place to be. There's a funky guest sitting room with a juke box and a record player, breakfast is served on locally handmade furniture and pottery ... and wait till you see the breakfast menu. There's about a dozen choices, ranging from a full fry up made with local, quality produce to vegan kedgeree. Or maybe you fancy kippers, or a superfoods smoothie ... or soft boiled eggs with marmite soldiers? And then there's the wifi, and the helpful information on good pubs and restaurants, and just Kevern's overall effort to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as he can. All this for a reasonable price - our room was only £64. Really, I'd move in if I could. Go there!

It is very petite and cosy, with the clean smell of fresh paint still lingering in the hall! We had an amazing weekend and would recommend this to anyone who wants to get away for a night or two! I am also impressed to see the appology comment made for the ex marine. Your honesty will be complimented!

It's very easy to find as you enter Filey and not far from the railway and bus stations and the local filling station is just a 100 yards down the road, you are not far from the centre of town but not far enough to hear the hustle and bustle. there are some good restaurants within a few hundred yards if you want a good evening meal. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Hallam Guest house and look forward to another visit soon.

Very peaceful, handy for touring the Wolds and for birdwatchers on the coast. Great breakfast, very nice owners.
