You may be able to book a fantastic view, but the room will be a massive disappointment. I could not get into my room early, so when I finally gained entry at nearly midnight, I found that the window had been left open all day and the room was freezing cold. There is no control of heat by room - and as of October 1, the building's boilers still had not been turned on! I hunted for a spare blanket - but the wardrobe did not have one. I tried to call down to ask for one, but the room did not have a phone! The second day, my bed was made, but the bathroom was not cleaned. In fact, the previous renters soap was still in the tub. The tub wall is several feet high - so elderly folks beware. My liquid shampoo body wash dispenser was empty and never re-filled, despite requesting it in person with the chambermaid. A bug was crawling on my shaving kit. Hard, uncomfortable bed Chipping paint on the sills Marked walls No doorknob at the main entry (where do you hang the do not disturb sign?) Its the towns only four star hotel, and it shows. Its located away from the town centre and is unremarkable looking from the outside (and even the lobby) the rooms and facilities offered are clean, comfortable, well maintained and modern. Theres a pool, a number of bars to choose from and a very well equipped gym which is also open to non residents. Food - either in the restaurant, at the bar or via room service, is very good and the staff have a rare quality in Scarborough - they understand they're there to look after customers and act accordingly, and are always dressed smartly which adds to the impression of professionalism. Conference facilities, if thats your thing, are also superlative, and while you pay for the service you receive, if its as good as this, then there shouldnt be many who can have a problem with it. It is located on Falconers Road overlooking the roundabout next to Iceland supermarket and Westborough Street. There is no free car parking however the pay-and-display parking opposite the hotel is free in the evening and overnight. Also there is a secure car park building close to the hotel which closes its gate at night around 11 pm if my memory serves me right. There is an attached pub which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. I had a breakfast and an early dinner there. The food quality was good but the breakfast selection wasn't as diverse as the rest of the Premier Inn's I stayed in. The staff in the reception and the pub were friendly and helpful. The lady at the reception disk gave me useful information regarding where to park the hire car. This is a good place to stay regardless which traveler category you fall under.

They had managed to squeeze in 2 armchairs which meant I had to either climb over the bed or carefully negotiate between the end of the bed and 1 of the armchairs to close the curtains. A bathroom on the first floor was beautiful and four of us could have comfortably slept in it!! Pity the beauty did not extend to the bedrooms. Having said that, I only used the room to sleep, shower, dress and change in so it was adequate. The food was buffet style. Choice of all the usual for breakfast including liver (?), croissants and pastries. Best fried bread I have tasted. Tea unfortunately was served in flasks and undrinkable. I ended up buying teabags and making my own. Dinner offered soup or cold plate for starters, a choice of 4 mains, including a roast meat, 2 types of potato and 2 vegetables. The roast potatoes had seen better days The choice of sweets was fine but were the same every day as was the cheese selection. The general opinion of the group was that the restaurant was run for the staff not the guests and the Manager was rude and unhelpful. We had a number of issues and I have written a letter of complaint and await an answer. The entertainment was somewhat old fashioned but we enjoyed it and danced the night away. The people on Reception were lovely and very helpful unlike the bar staff and some of the waiting staff. I would say they definitely have staff problems.

The staff were rude, you have to put the key fob in a…read morelight to be able to turn it on, we weren't informed about it and when asking a passing by staff member I asked how to turn the lights on and what number to call reception and we had tried the numbers that are usually used as reception numbers and didn't work he rudely responded "zeroooo" in a moody and cocky voice and then we asked about the light, rude again. Later we were just outside the hotel getting some air (hotel has shitty ventilation) and that same staff member passed by looking at us and then passed again looking at us went to reception and went to the window to stare at us and when he saw that we noticed him he just left. Then pointing at us to his other team member. The room was slanted the toilet lights had dead bugs in them. Not gonna stay here again, ohh and at dinner/breakfast don't expect good food, expect cold food and shitty service. Never gonna recommend to anybody!

I stayed in room 21 on the night of Saturday 10th June 2023 and i was extremely surprised when my room that was just a twin room had a balcony that overlooked the town nicely. Entire room was spotlessly clean including things like the bath, toilet, beds etc. The breakfast was the best breakfast i had had in a very long time, cooked to perfection. We first went here 12 years ago for our honeymoon. My parents had booked us into the grand hotel…read morebut the room was awful and we argued until we got our money back and the young lady on reception advised us to try the riviera across the road. It was a vast improvement on what we had just seen. The owners were lovely and showed us a few rooms before we picked one and paid for it. It was conformtable with decent space around the bed with a good view and was ensuite and had tea and coffee. The floor boards creaked abit as they tend to do in any older building. The breakfast was lovely - well cooked and well presented with ample choice of hot and cold, traditional breakfast as well as kippers or porriage (or vegertarian cooked breakfast) - so would suit all tastes. The staff are friendly and helpful and are happy to give advice on where to go. You also have the option of booking evening meals and they do have a licence to serve alcohol in a small bar area. We have been going back once a year ever since. The only downside is now it is getting a bit pricey as you pay per person not per room so there are less expensive B&Bs available in the area. They do have a web site you can check out.

On arrival to the hotel there was no one at reception and had to ring some makeshift buzzer. I waited. and I waited. and I waited. Then when a receptionist finally got here he started repeating himself for some reason. Check in was quick and when I got to my room I discovered I had a pretty small room which was at the back of the hotel overlooking an alley and a multistory car park. No sea view for me then. Outside my room was a load of used plates and cutlery which isn't what you want to be greeted with and given it was gone 3pm you would think housekeeping would have dealt with it. The room was clean but there was a large damp patch on the wall which was coming through the wallpaper. I know Travelodge is millions of pounds in debt, but charging £81 for a room which is worth half the price at most smacks of desperation and I left feeling ripped off. I've stayed at other Travelodges before and this will be the last time.
