Dropped My Whole Family After 15 Years We have had our THREE…read morechildren as patients of Dr. Newman and McCorkle for over 15 years. Our two oldest are Type 1 Diabetics and with our high deductible insurance, we were trying to mediate costs. It was suggested by a third party that a general physician might take out oldest on and take the place of the pediatrician and the specialist since we were paying upwards of $1500 per child for the year for their quarterly appointments (JUST with the specialist). So we had ONE consultation last October, and of course my oldest son's records were sent over. But insurance changed at the start of the year, which allowed for more coverage, but it did not cover this doctor. We assumed (incorrectly) that Pediatric Partners was still the primary care for all three children. Well, we called to schedule an appointment with a health concern and we were told that they had dropped our ENTIRE FAMILY. Apparently, it is their policy that for "continuity of care" that once one patient leaves, they must all go. I get that you don't want patients jumping around. But seriously? That's it? "Bye! Hope to not see you again!"? Wow! We were floored, and deeply hurt and called several times to try and get more information and express our frustration. I was told, "Our patients are our number one concern." Those are nice words to say, but that is not what is communicated by actions. I was told, "I understand your frustrations," but that was not what was conveyed when there was no "let me see what I can do" or "let me find someone else to see if they can help you." I had to ask for management, and it was apparent the girl I was talking to was glad to get rid of me as she cut me off to interrupt "I'm transferring you now." This does not convey a caring practice. This is what I hear: "You are a commodity, and we have a line of patients to replace you, so we don't mind discarding you." I left a message with the office administrator, but I did not receive a call back. What else am I supposed to gather from these interactions? Circumstances make no difference. Relationships don't matter. Just a cold, hard, callous policy. I called other pediatricians to see if this is the norm, and it was not the policy of those we contacted. This is a HORRID policy, one that demonstrates a lack of true concern and care.

Both Dr. Newman and McCorckle are fantastic with our children. The staff and facilities are great and wait times are reasonable. They provide top notch care and service. They are truly exceptional doctors. That being said, contacting anyone at the office to set up an appointment or for any other reason is a constant issue. The line is constantly busy and I have, on more than one occasion, called for an hour or more before being able to get through to anyone at the office. When you finally do get through, it's to an automated answering system and not an actual staff member, which can be frustrating. They can often be accommodating if you call and try and get an appointment the same day but there have been several occasions where we were unable to get an appointment and we often just take our children to Urgent Care because it's much more convenient. Again the service and care they have provided our children is consistently top notch but the frustration associated with contacting and communicating with anybody at the practice is completely maddening and unreasonable at times. I started calling at 9am this morning and was unable to get through until 10:15 and this is a consistent issue. Extremely frustrating. I'd easily give them a five star review if not for this issue.
