This company found that there were several places under the shingles where no roofing felt paper was put down, tar was applied instead of replacing bad decking, and places were not nailed to a nailable surface (e.g not to code). When we talked to Knock on Wood he became irate and stated he wasn't coming out to replace plywood or to address the issues with the roof. I had to pay another company to fix the issue. They walked us through the entire process and did not push us to do anything we did not want to do. They made sure we were clear on the total cost BEFORE we signed the contract.
