I took the concealed carry class this past Sunday, and I was pleasantly surprised. I went in went some hesitation. My instructor was Maggie (sp), she was so ExcepTional! The class was informative and filled with a strong touch of personality. Her jokes were funny and she shared personal stories that made her so relatable. I felt like if I was 10 years younger we might have been good girlfriends...if we could share some whiskey drinks lol. I completed my registration the next day and it was seamless. P.S. Everyone that works there looks like they could play a character in the Vampire Diaries/Originals/Twilight...a better example might be Eternals. #AthenaArms:) read more

The shooting range was hot as hell and they told me to go into the range and after I got all my stuff out and ready to shoot they came in and made me pack up and move all my stuff to a different range because it was to Loud even tho I told them what I was shooting. Just not the best experience. Not horrible but they need to make it more comfortable during hot days. read more

Really liked this location however dangerous flaw in either management of or quality of backstop. Was shooting with friends and while getting myself prepped to fire in my lane I was hit in the stomach with a ricochet. It felt like I was hit in the gut with a baseball. It was a substantial impact that caused a dark bruise and slight break in the skin. Had I not been wearing a thick Carhart sweatshirt and shirt underneath it would have been more serious. In fact, had this hit someone in the neck, face, or eyes it could have been lethal. After I was hit, I immediately located the jacket of a pistol round, likely 9mm that had hit me. To my disappointment I also located a whole slew of jacketing at the firing line indicating that this ricochet was not a one-off. What made this situation worse was managements reaction to the issue. I politely approached the safety officer in the range and explained what had happened. He looked at me and dismissed my concern and told me it's normal to have bounce back ricochet. I disagree. The trap is not doing its job. Immediately after hearing the RSOs response, my friends and I packed up our gear and exited the firing line. I then approached the store management out on the sales floor where I was offered an apology and a refund for the lane cost. They asked to see my stomach and I showed them where I was impacted. In summary, I cannot recommend this range based on safety and poor management. I'm active duty for 18 years, I fire an average of about 40k rounds a year all over the US and while I have seen poorly kept ranges, this range has a critical issue with either a faulty backstop or just management neglect. In all, I support our 2A rights and would hate to see what could be a nice range have a fatal issue drawing more criticism to our sport/hobby/profession. Happy to discuss anytime. read more

RANGE REVIEW ONLY! I have shot at the range here many times. Today when I arrived, my son and I were assigned to lane 4, and a gentleman was shooting in lane 2. While I was loading up mags, my son suddenly jumped and said ouch, something hit my foot. Upon further investigation, I realized he got hit with a 9mm ricochet in the foot. He was wearing rubber shoes, so the ricochet burned right through and gave him a 1/4" burn on the top of his foot. (I know, wrong choice of shoes for the range, but it was a last-minute decision to stop in on the way home from out west.) I immediately notified the gentleman (not his fault) and the staff. The staff seemed less than concerned and said, "It happens." I decided it wasn't a good omen and packed up and left. The range backstop filler needs to be correctly inspected and replaced because it is not catching the lead as it should be. I am thankful the ricochet hit my son's foot, not his face or elsewhere. I will not shoot at this range again, which is a bummer, I liked the range, and it is conveniently located. read more

I took my gun safety class at Athena. I expected a "bro" atmosphere. Nothing could be further than the truth. Everyone was courteous and helpful. My class with Tristan was scaled to my pace and he answered every question I had. If you are thinking about beginning, take the safety class, rent the gun and start at Athena. read more

I have visited a few different gun ranges in the Omaha area, and in those experiences its very rare for the staff to make you feel at home or want to help you. Thats what sticks out to me about Athena, is that the staff bends over backwards to make you feel welcomed, at home and appreciated. As a newer shooter, and one that has cerebral palsy, I would highly recommend Athena, because not only only is the staff awesome. But the prices are very affordable. read more
