I've been going to Anna at Atelier since 2014 and just to update on my previous review, my hair relationship with Anna is still going strong. We've been through short hair cuts, long hair cuts, ombres, blondes, and even purples. She also embraces the fact that I'm a low hair maintenance kinda gal. You would think that a low maintenance hair gal can't have purple hair or blonde hair, but I did and it was fab. Even after COVID hit, when Atelier was able to open back again last fall, Anna fit me in for a cut and color. I was a bit scared to venture out to the public but I felt completely safe and comfortable with all their implemented precautions. I booked an appointment with McKenzie for my daughter to have a haircut with her for the first time since other reviewers are saying she is very good at cutting layers, and yes, she did a fantastic job creating beautiful layers for my daughter's hair just like the pictures I showed. The salon is very nice, the receptionist is so nice and everyone in the salon is walking around with the smile on their face making our visit so pleasure. I was suppose to get my hair cut and colored on my birthday in March, but Covid happened and everything shut down. Now that things are re-opening I was really happy to hear that Atelier in Santana Row was open for business. I quickly made appointment with any senior stylist and was able to get Ana - she did an awesome job on my cut and color. I wanted something manageable and easy - especially since I have the non-traditional Asian hair (fine and naturally curly). I also selected this salon, because I know its quality is always top notch and the staff, along with their manager, really care about the patrons. I got a Keratin treatment and within 3 weeks, my hair was back to normal. I've had Keratin treatment for years and generally it lasts 5-6 months because I am careful with products and care. I'm extremely disappointed that after spending close to $500, the treatment I received only lasted a few weeks. I'm pretty sure I was given a Keratin express even though I requested and paid for the full Keratin. I shared a picture of my hair with the salon and was told it's normal (which isn't the case!). I've been coming to Atelier for close to 6 years now. I've been seeing Celine since the beginning. She is absolutely amazing!! Before her I had some serious trust issues with stylists in the past. But after my first visit with Celine, I knew I had someone who I could trust. She helped get my hair in shape for my wedding and did my hair the day of. This review is for what I feel is an unreasonable policy of charging 100% fee for late-notice cancellation -- the first time I've had to do this due to work emergency -- with no consideration for 10 years of loyalty and a number of referrals. Worst possible service at Atelier Studio Santana Row. Beware of the tricks they play with the customer. The stylists change schedules at their own will on the day of appointment but don't offer customers the same flexibility. The Stylist Cady and the Manager Margo tricked us into charging a higher cancellation fee last time around. They rescheduled the appointment without letting us know and and then charged the whole amount because we showed up at our original booking time. Their service has also deteriorated over the last years. There are other really nice salons at the Row. I have changed to W's and it has worked wonders. 5:30pm on a Monday evening and so decided I wanted to get a haircut - stat! I called a few places in the area and many 1) didn't have any openings for the night 2) close at 7pm, or 3) are $70+ for a haircut. Then I called Atelier Aveda. The receptionist greeted me warmly, answered all my question, and directed me to their location. Perfect! I had booked an appointment at 8pm. I was surprised they were open until 9pm and grateful for their flexibility with me. Once I arrived, I was greeted by smiling staff and offered tea/water. Then I met Kate. I had a particular hair style in mind and she definitely worked with me to help me achieve just what I wanted. She is AMAZING! So thoughtful. (I've had experiences with hair stylists that decide to do what they think is "cute" with my hair without my consent). We began with a scalp massage (choose between peppermint and lavender oils), followed by a wash using Aveda products, and finally the haircut. The entire process took about an hour and we had some good conversation all though out. The cost for a haircut starts at $55 (tip not included) and may be adjusted according to length / thickness of hair. My last experience here was awful and the front desk employees are useless. For Christmas my husband walked in to get me a gift card for my hair. "Extended Cut and partial highlight." Front desk pulls up my account for him, sees the stylist I go to and says "250". A couple months later I go to make my appointment. I see that the appointment app doesn't list extended cut with partial highlight, so I decided to call to make sure I booked the right thing. The girl doesn't know how to do it, and puts me on hold to talk to a manger. 10 minutes later I realize she's forgotten about me, so I hang up and call back. Repeat everything I already said about needing the extended cut. We find an appointment but it's at 6pm. She tells me they close at 9pm and given my extended cut and my long hair she will need to text the stylist to make sure it's enough time and let me know if we need to change the appointment time. So she's Acknowledging that I may need more than 3 hours. I'm then told it's $290, so I say okay maybe the girl who helped my husband just made a mistake. I go in and when all is done to pay the woman at the front says I my appointment was never booked for an extended cut and I will now need to pay $325. What!!?!?! I love my cut, but that was ridiculous and I was overcharged and not once, not twice but three times I was told a different price for the same service requested each time. I'll never go back. They are the only place that can cut my hair well but after that experience I'll take my chances elsewhere. read more

I have been coming to this salon for years, but covid has made me reevaluate my relationship with most services I used to enjoy. In the summer of 2022, when most businesses no longer do anything to make sure their services are accessible to people of all health profiles, Atilier stands out for still showing they care. I went for a 3 hr hair relaxing treatment and hair cut. About 75% of staff were wearing high filtration masks. I dont know if the salon owner supplies them for staff or what, but I hope this continues. They also have a large hepa after running in the back of the salon. I felt more safe here that in most places. Thank you for making sure that high risk an immunocompromised individuals and families have a place to get their hair cut. Hair cut and blow out were excellent as usual, but if there were no covid mitigations in place, I would not have returned. read more

The designer that I worked with couldn't seem to get my highlights right and when I attempted to correct the problem she became arrogant and rude. DONT go here. The receptionist and actual workers were nice but I did not get what I wanted at all and still paid $400. When I came in I showed specific photos that I wanted and asked if it is possible during the consultation so I know I'm not wasting mine or their time and they said "yes it will definitely be noticeable you got your hair done and we will try to get to the color you want." I asked for an all over brown color with silver to light blonde highlights that look like the photo. Did not listen to what I wanted and just gave me highlights and didn't touch my overall base. Still paid full price of a full color and what I was originally quoted for just for highlights. I came into first session. Looked like nothing changed at all. I hate complaining and never wrote a review before but I started crying in the chair bc it was not worth the money when my hair was still dark! The stylist sort of gaslighted me saying that she sees the change and explains she didn't think my hair would lighten but before she put on the toner it was completely blonde. When I've had my hair done before in a different place my hair was really light and healthy. Second time around she offered to re do it because I was so upset about my hair but struggled because I didn't want to be mean. Didn't charge me for fixing it but even when she fixed it you can't tell me it looks like what I wanted. Also! It was not at all even. When you lift the top layer there is no highlights at all under and one side has more highlights than the other. Lastly, I later find out a friend had the same experience where she saw no change and had to come back. Time is money. Wasted my time and my money. read more

First of all, I set the appointment at 8 am, now not a lot of salon are open at 8 in the morning. Alicia arrive a little late but I didn't mind waiting in the nice lobby. They have a lounge area with refreshment and a restroom. Start of the session, she ask what I was looking for. I really felt like she listen to what I was saying. Then she ask what my favorite smell of the 3 choices: lavender, shampoo, and mint. I went with shampoo. Alicia gives an amazing head massage. She wash my hair and took her time. (I'm not local to the area but I am down here helping my sister move into her new rental and I really wanted to have a haircut as it had been such a long time since my last one.) She has now gained a permanent client! I told her exactly what it was that I wanted and showed her a picture and she delivered. I was very inspired by the current hair trends in Korea, particularly by the artist, IU. Now I am so happy to have those beautiful long layers added to my hair! Went here per a friend's recommendation. Products are great, but the stylist who cut my hair left my cut very choppy, blunt, and uneven. I asked her to fix one area at the end, it ended up worst. I didn't want to make a big scene out of it, so I said it's fine the way it is to get out of the chair. I ended up going elsewhere to have it fixed. They begin the session with a scalp/neck massage, mine was not even 2 minutes and felt like she didn't even try. Not worth the $80. Hairstylist was friendly, but that doesn't make up for the result of the haircut. I'm still upset thinking about it. read more

It's been a few days since my cut and I've just washed it - I'm still so in love with the cut.
