This is five stars for odd/ weird/ out there.we went based on the name and the photos and proximity to Arsenal. There was no review and we had no idea what we were getting into. I keep thinking this is the kind of quirky place millennials who love rewatching "Harold and Maude" would love. You pay $12 entry fee, and are given a fancy map of the place, and a headset to listen to descriptions at each of the numbers along the disjointed path. Starting with color photocopies of world famous art. (Never seen that before). The very random art collection is disbursed through the building, as are some working artists and their work. There were also a couple rooms with wax figures of some famous persons through history. It's a mish-mash of all kinds of random stuff you'd find at yard sales, or scavenger hunts. In the attic space, more randomness, including a mini theatre that happened to be playing old Downton Abbey episodes while we were there. The best part of the place we didn't see much of: that they provide studio space for 50 artists.

The "teacher" (who admits that she has had personal difficulties in her life on her website) did absolutely nothing. For five minutes they outlined a figure with a stencil and coloured it in -- the next two hours were "free drawing" with zero input or instruction or interesting materials -- which she can do at home. On top of that, the school had the hutzpah to charge a 10% cancellation fee when I explained that the class was not what it claimed to be. There is no teaching; it's a babysitting service. The helper who greeted us when we came in was sullen and neither looked at my grandchild nor said hello to either of us. In a bored, lethargic way she led us to a table and left. The teacher had not yet arrived, so this was the only introduction to the first class. Maybe other classes are better, but what does it say about a school that it hires this teacher regularly, does nothing about the class, and does not respond to feedback?

The center is more than just a place to take a course - it really is a "community" of artistic inspiration. The teachers are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. But, interestingly many of the students take the courses many times; particularly for ceramics. As a kind of community, not only do you have great teachers but the students help and inspire each other. There is also generous open studios for students. I am hooked on ceramics and will continue to courses at the center. And the price is right!!

Each floor has different themes and there are like 5 buildings that you can visit around. There is path/ outside to get across to. During that time, two of buildings were closed to an event and for installation. We spent about 2-3 hrs long and then we were tired. We didn't get to see everything but that's okay! We still enjoyed our visit. Definitely worth visit when you are in Montréal. The workers were excellent at their jobs.

We spent close to three hours inside and weren't able to cover all the displays. The artwork was captivating, and I loved that the exhibitions are refreshed almost every season. The staff stood out as well--polite, attentive, and happy to assist whenever needed.
