A small elegant sign hangs above the door. In the window there is a puzzle piece that is eye catching and seems so out of place it stopped me in my tracks... I had to go in. A great collection of paintings from several artists.  The space is airy and bright which displays the pieces wonderfully. I did go back to that puzzle piece... Just so cool and different.  Art is subjective and although I wouldn't purchase any of the pieces (not that I could afford them lol), I did appreciate the talent displayed is this lovely gallery.

Built in the beaux-arts style and inspired by Le Petit Trianon in Versailles it housed the Dufresne family from 1920 to 1947. (I kept looking for the entrance to the batcave) While we enjoyed the historical background, the beautiful architecture, the religiously themed murals and ceiling paintings by Guido Nincheri and the fascinating furniture, we would suggest you wait until the next free admission first Sunday to visit, as it is, well....basically just an old, rich family's house.

This museum is located right next to Olympic Park and is at the end of a residential street. At first it looked like it was closed because there were no cars In the driveway and I didn't see any people milling around. The door was also locked. However, when the docent saw me at the door, she opened it and let me in. The docent was very friendly. She gave me a little information about the house and its owners. She also lent me an iPad containing info for a self guided tour. The house is amazing. I love beau arts design. There are descriptions about the family and history posted throughout the museum. I wish the government took more time to market this jewel of a museum. There is no gift shop or book about the house and family. If it ran like Filoli, they'd be packing them in. Unfortunately, not a lot of people know about this place. There was one other family besides me doing the tour. A definite must see if you are into architecture and looking at things from a by gone age!

They're completely different attractions in separate locations, but in my limited memory bank, they sounded the same to me. The Biodome is basically an indoor zoo housed in the converted 1976 Olympic Velodrome, while the Biosphere is a climate change museum in a steel geodesic dome. It was originally designed by Buckminster Fuller as the US pavilion for Expo 67. The vintage appealed to us as well as other nearby sights, so Jamie W and I chose to visit the Biosphere on Île Sainte-Hélène, a separate island on the St Lawrence River. We had seen the distinctive structure from a distance in the Old Port, and it intrigued us as something built in 1967 to represent the future. The dated Jetsons-like architecture has been well maintained. There were two floors featuring interactive exhibitions and generic installations focused on climate change, sustainable development, and ecological action. They varied in their level of engagement. The highlight was definitely the Belvedere, the outdoor vista walkway on the 4th floor (Photo 8). Admission is pricey at C$25.50. RELATED - Exploring Montreal? It will be my pleasure to update this review at some future date, several years from now…read more As a fan of contemporary art I was looking forward to this museum only to learn - too late - that it's under renovation for the next couple of years. The site I was directed to (in Montreal's underground mall) is a tiny sample of their usual offering, so small in fact, that paying anything to enter struck me as an utter money grab. (My entry fee was waived as I had the Passport MTL). Even with essentially free admission for me, what was on view here was less than compelling and I had to work hard to engage my interest. My recommendation is to wait until they're back in their permanent home. Finding this place wasn't worth the time it took but, of course, I thought I was headed to the real deal, not a temporary exhibit.

The guide was wonderful and really helped me to have a better interaction with the pieces. I highly recommend taking them up on their offer of a tour if you have the time! Overall, very small and the temporary location is strange, but it can be very interesting if you're interested in contemporary art or if you're interested in the exhibit at the time you visit!

He decided that, as governor, he needed to have a grand home that befits the importance of the office. Ramezay went a little overboard, spending way too much of his own money to build his Château. But the Château earned him bragging rights: he wrote to the minister in France saying that his house was undoubtedly the most beautiful in Canada (and was definitely better than the governor of Québec City's house). Another fact for history buff: The year was 1776, and the Continental Congress of Philadelphia sent Benjamin Franklin to Canada. His mission was to persuade Canadians to join the American Revolution. When he came to Montreal, a reception was organized for him here at the Château interesting stop!
