COWBODY HAIRDRESSER! They are unprofessional, careless, inattentive and don't listen to you when you tell them what you want. They only do what they want and whatever they think is 'trendy', and disregard whatever you have asked for. I asked for a short layered haircut, just a little shorter than my just past shoulder length hair and I left with a stupid almost bowl cut boy-like bob. I personally feel robbed from having beautiful hair and they've taken my money! But in the long term, they lose because they have lost a client and potentially more because word gets around quickly. My hair will grow back however and in future I will be going to a proper and genuine hairdresser who actually cares about their clients. If you're a risk-taker and want to ruin your hair, then this place would be perfect for you. However, if you actually care about your appearance and your wallet, don't go there. read more

One of my colleagues recommended Mark at Atelier after I said how much I liked her hair. Well, he certainly lived up to his reputation and I now have exactly the cut I wanted. Mark took time to look at my hair and shape of my face and said the hairstyle I had chosen would suit me very much. I asked him if he would have told me if I had chosen an unsuitable haircut and he said he would! I can honestly say I haven't had a cut this good in years (and Hannah gives a great head massage!). I've booked in to have my colour done in a couple of weeks' time and to have a cut and blow dry in December ready for Christmas and I haven't done that since I moved to Cumbria five years ago. I used to visit Atelier when i wanted a new colour on my hair as I felt that they were the best place I had been to do this. It has recently been taken over by another stylist and has a whole new feel to it now. The decor is really up to the minute trendy and it's quite a large salon. They have a good selection of magazines to look at while you are waiting and you always get offered a cup of coffee The styylists are very capable and good at listening to and understanding what you want. They like to have a good crack and are really good at what they do. This is definitely a more upmarket salon and the pric reflects that. Although it is worth paying more if the stylist is good I feel. You have to make an appointment before going and they sit and have a consultation with you first before taking you over to the place where they will do the cut.
