Richard makes tons of mistakes and spends a tremendous amount of billable time fixing those mistakes. Avoid at all costs! Long version: Our small business was looking for a CPA firm back in 2022. I contacted a firm that wasn't taking on any new clients, but referred us to Richard Roy. He promised to fix all kinds of issues he said he found and really sounded like he was competent. First red flag, he also does bookkeeping for clients as well. Keep in mind he is a one man operation with no team. Since bookkeeping took quite a bit of time and attention he way overcharged for this service. Plus, he kept saying our bank had update issues so it took him much longer to 'fix' everything. Next and biggest red flag, he was totally clueless on how to account for the ERTC program. I'm not making this up, I actually had to tell him how to handle it and he ended up doing it my way. Then, he said he had to file amendments on our corporate returns for 2021 and 2022! I was super unsure about this, but he was insistent so he did. Of course, there were more fees for this and we ended up owing more money to the IRS. After about a year of ongoing incompetence I finally had to fire him. There were several other issues, but I always tried to give him the benefit of the doubt. We just got a letter this week from the IRS. The amendments he filed were incorrect regarding the ERTC and we now have to get this all rectified. Richard will not answer his phone or return any calls. Now, it looks like I'm going to have to waste a lot more time to fix this and then take him to court. What a waste of time and money. Save yourself a ton of trouble and steer way clear of this guy!

Well, he did not help me one bit as promised, he never talked to them, as I had to go somewhere else and pay them too to help me. He refused to give me my money back or any portion of it as I only had a very brief phone call with him maybe 3 minutes to be exact. Not worth $750.00 for 3 minutes of anyone's time. He wouldn't even give me an itemized statement of my money and where and what is what used for I gave him. He gave me no records of my file and what was done. Ya'll need to run somewhere else right now. I feel he took big time advantage of me I'm a retiree senior citizen living on a senior budget and he knew it too. Very surprising to me he could treat me or anyone like this. My opinion he doesn't deserve your business and it's all about the money, well, he'll never get mine or my family & friends and hopefully your's ever again. I'm thankful I have this platform to report the theft I encountered in my situation with Jim F. He never wanted to talk to me about this except to tell me he wasn't giving my money back. She way over promises and grossly under delivers. If you are looking for a CPA keep looking. Long Version: Back in 2018 I had a consultation with Christina Minton. Everything seemed to go well, but we could never actually get in touch again to start accounting services. They never returned phone calls or emails. Quite odd, so we hired another firm. Our business grew substantially and we were outsourcing accounting to a firm in another state. I wanted to find a local firm so on the advice of a friend I contacted Christina Minton again. This was around June 2022. I had a long phone call and I told her we would need a lot of hand holding in the beginning to get all the accounting back on track, fix problems, setup for success, etc. I sent her all the requested info and then met with her in person the next week. This was about an hour long meeting and we went over quite a bit. I asked about why she never returned calls and emails a few years before. She told me she had a partner that ended up embezzling over 100k from her and she was dealing with that at the time. Should have been a big enough red flag for me to run at that point but she came highly recommended from a friend. How could a CPA allow a 'partner' to steal that much money without knowing? She reassured me that all is good now and they can easily handle all our needs. About a month later we switched over all accounting and bookkeeping to Minton CPA. Huge mistake. The brief overview is that they could never even setup the bookkeeping properly after 2 months! On the accounting end they always act like it's day one. We went over everything in detail before I hired them, but now we had to go through every little detail again and often multiple times. It was literally groundhog day. They have absolutely no organizational system. Only threads of never ending unsecured (gmail) email chains. I setup another in person meeting with Tina to discuss all the problems. Again, we literally started over from the beginning! We had to go over details that should have already been resolved. She once again apologized and said she would get everything straightened out. The final straw was when they reassured everything was final to file our personal returns. They called me on the day it was due to be filed and said I had to pay for them to file the return. We didn't even review anything! They didn't file the return so more penalties on top of that. We ended up having to hire another firm to fix all the problems they caused. Minton CPA caused an incredible amount of damage in only 3 short months. We paid them to file our corporate return which was $1500. It was incorrect. Our new firm had to file an amendment for this, costing us much more time and money. We lost thousands because of their mistakes. It turns out that Alex is only the 'office manager'. Alex has no accounting background, but does quite a bit of the 'accounting' work. Minton CPA is not necessarily an accounting firm. Tina Minton is the only actual CPA there and Alex is her daughter. Alex and a few other unqualified people do the majority of the work. Finding a good CPA is hard because many of them are overworked. If you are looking for a good CPA keep looking. Minton CPA will only cause you grief and cost you tons of money. We are still dealing with issues they caused months after I fired them.

I have called and left voicemails. I also sent multiple emails and no response. Now I don't know if they ever filed my tax return for my c corp. Update I removed this initial review because Mr Brinkley sent me a message after I submitted it. He seemed apologetic and said he will work on submitting the return since Tanita Brinkley was the one who should've submitted originally but never did. But mr Brinkley had no follow through. He was inconsistent on replying back to messages and didn't show up for a call we had set up to talk about the return. I ended up requesting a refund and worked on submitted the return for my business myself.

I was also told with our income that we qualified for the new stimulus money but had to speak to the owner to find out that wasn't correct. I was also told we'd have to pay $12,000 in 2021 and $12,000 in 2022 in taxes only to find out it was $12,000 total. When I tell you I've had to call them 6 times today to get answers/clarity, I am not exaggerating. At this point, I would just like a refund on our taxes so we can go elsewhere. Last year, while perusing FaceBook, I happened to see a post from the owner of the doggie day care joint I take Dante to and she was raving about this accountant who did her taxes. Knowing that I would need to find one eventually, I quickly got Ben's number from her. Ben is great. He got me more money back this year and saved me headaches and money related arguments married people tend to have this time of year. His pricing was pretty awesome, too. I would highly recommend calling him up if you need any financial services/advice/taxes.
