RUN away from this store as fast as you can. Unless you want to be lied to and scammed, then I recommend to go here.
My husband and I came in to join our accounts together (I would get off of my mom's AT&T plan, my husband would come over from Sprint, and together him and I would have our own account). I was quoted it would be $150 TOTAL for two lines (that included leasing 1 iPhone 8 Plus). On top of that I asked about my corporate discount which the sales rep said would be applied (that was a lie). We were in the store for FOUR HOURS, trying to convert everything to one account, I was crying in the store, and felt pressure to continue with the process when my gut told me to stop and re-group the next day. Previously when I was chatting with the sales person about what I was doing that night I said "I have a family dinner at 6" (we came in the store around 330/4). In hindsight, it would have been nice if the employee and manager that were standing with us would have noticed how frustrated and stressed we were and said "hey look, lets get together tomorrow on this when we all have time, I know you are already late for your family dinner." Instead of even acknowledging our frustration (it was partly due to Sprint, don't get me wrong) they were rapidly unwrapping our phones and slapping screen protectors on them, trying to force us to move on with the process. All along Direct TV was being shoved down my throat (at one point the sales person even said our monthly bill would be $150 for two lines with direct tv!!! LIES!!). I told her we could not afford it but it still was pushed too hard. I get it, it's sales, but we were already two hours deep with no progress. Also, I had originally decided on the iPhone X when I was looking at them with the sales person. It wasn't until about an hour and a half later she told me "well you won't walk out with the X today, and then you also won't get the BOGO with your husbands phone". It really would have been nice to know all of that ahead of time (like originally when I told her I wanted the X...) again another tactic to make me feel bad if I were to walk away from the situation. Anyways, here were are hours later, puffy eyes and all, our shiney new phones, no one ever walked me through my receipt, what my final bill was, had my husband signing away to things he didn't even know "here just quickly sign this" and shoved us out the door. At this point we were leaving for family dinner and hour late, showed up and everyone had already ate, lovely. I came back to the store in the morning because after reviewing my receipt my monthly bill was going to be almost $240 dollars. Almost $100 more than what I was quoted. I asked if there was a way to lower the cost of the bill, they said I could switch to the slower unlimited plan, I asked if we would notice a difference in how slow our phones would be and the manager said "only if you are streaming big things like Netflix or Hulu" so I said "okay, we won't notice a difference on social media, etc.?" his answer was no it shouldn't be any slower than what we are used to. So great, I switch us to the lower plan, I also asked to remove the insurance on both phones to save us $22 a month. They did not remove the insurance FYI. I also asked why my corporate discount was not applied and the manager said "that does not apply to unlimited plans" that would have been great to know last night, as I was expecting 25% off my monthly bill. He said there was nothing he could do about it (again, he could have at least added it in for me, as the discount applies to other things besides the plan as well). I went to use the Maps app on my phone a couple hours later and it was SO PAINFULLY SLOW. So I decided to Google my destination in stead, also extremely slow. Extremely frustrated because just hours earlier I was told I would not notice a difference. I ended up going to a different AT&T store in Woodbury because I was fed up with the Maplewood Store. I only had to wait a minute, and was asked how I could be helped. I told the man that I was very confused about the account I had just set up yesterday, and would appreciate someone to help me get the best options for my husband and I set up. He grabbed a piece of scratch paper, wrote every single charge down, and also calculated the tax. This would have been so nice to have had the night I set my account up. He also told me he would never recommend the slower/cheaper unlimited plan to customers because of how painfully slow it is. He said maybe for older clients but not someone who uses social media and email on their phone daily. He switched me back to my original, more expensive plan, and also said he added in my corporate discount because he thought it would apply to unlimited data soon, so at least it was set up in there for whenever that would happen.
END RESULT: I cancelled my contract because of how poorly this was done and will never set up an account with AT&T again. read more
