My 4th grade student has been falling behind so recently I decided to help her out since everything is from home now. However, we were not let into her second period for 4th grade math on Monday at all. Then on Tuesday, the teacher took a total of sixteen minutes to even let us in. (Classes are done through zoom)
I was physically there with my student, completely at a loss as what to do. I send the teacher an email and she scheduled a meeting (which she was also late to). She was extremely unprofessional and had the demeanor of a person who did not want to be there. Honestly, she looked like she just rolled out of bed with an attitude. She tried to say everything was just a "misunderstanding" and that she was there on time. It just made me so upset because I was physically there with my student trying everything we possibly could to get into the classroom. She did not let me say much through your call, as she kept cutting me off to get her point across. It was absolutely ridiculous to the point where someone working in the other room had to come in and see what was going on. (Teacher kept talking louder over me) She tried to point all of the attention to the student saying things like, "oh well she's falling behind, doesn't turn in camera, comes in late" Also, I emailed the principal and she just wanted to talk about the student and not the fact that the teacher is acting stupendously unprofessional. Which is insane, who do I even talk to about how upset I am with this teacher.
Now, my student got kicked out of her home, she is nine and is now living with me. I can understand why she is having trouble with her online school when she doesn't even have a place to live. What I cannot understand is why she will not let her into class.
The teacher then said that when her students are late to class, she will simply keep them waiting until she is done doing whatever she is doing. Honestly I told her "that is stupid" because the class is only forty minutes long. Keeping them waiting for half of the day or the entire day is unacceptable. I love this school and do not wish to remove my student but THISSSSSS... I just can't. I was HIGHLY DISRESPECTED. She also acted out this way I front of her student and the student was able to see her yell at me and hang up. I want an apology and have contacted the school but no one reaches out.
