This place has dropped significantly in the last couple of years. The fries are usually hot but it's because they keep recooking them so depending on where you're at in the lifespan you either get slightly undercooked or (usually) overcooked to the point of they're dark and crisp all the way through. Pastrami sandwich is my go-to at these restaurants and the quantity of meat has been cut back lately to where it's not worth spending $9 for such a small sandwich. Crown Burger is $1 more and they load the sandwiches up just like Astro used to. Disappointing. read more

I'm going to do a quick pros and cons to sum up my two visits here. Pros: Tons of options. Salads are very well portioned, I particularly liked the salmon salad even If the shredded cheese was a lil weird. Reasonable prices. Very tasty fry sauce. Mushroom burger is an entire meal by itself. Good service Cons: very long wait lines inside and through drive thru during lunch hour. Bathroom was questionable. The fries have no seasoning or texture. The tuna melt is a BIG NO. Seriously, I don't know what I was thinking but avoid the tuna melt at all costs. read more

We have visited two of the three Astro Burgers and they were both great. They have really good Greek food and their burgers are amazing. My son ordered the pastrami burger and it's not one of his favorite burgers. I always get the chicken kabob with salad and lemon rice. It is also one of my favorites. My son's girlfriend had never been until a few weeks ago, she ordered a regular cheeseburger and I guess she loved it because she requested to go back again today and got the cheeseburger. This is a great locally-~owned family business that always has clean tables and really good food. All of the restaurants have family working there to make sure the quality and service is good, they don't pan it off to others. They take their business seriously. (I believe it's the same family as the one who owns Crown Burger, but I'm not positive. The food is very similar.)The menu has a LOT if choices and it's always good. They even have fry sauce for your fries, a definite indicator they are a Utah business! Food cost is average to slightly more than a regular fast food place, but it's worth it. Food is made to order, tastes better than the other fast food chains, and is always great! The restaurant is large for fast food, if you have a big group there is plenty of room for you. My son's whole soccer team and their families would hit this place whenever they played close by, and we always were able to sit together. I love this place. We have between going here for years, it's good and service we have never been disappointed in their food. read more

My family stopped in here on the fly while we were car shopping. We loved that their dining room was open. We are pro mask and pro social distancing but eating in the car with a toddler is just not something we prefer. They had everything set up great and asked customers to wear a mask when not seated. Food came fast and it was excellent for a fast food burger stop. The bacon was perfectly crispy and thick. None of that flimsy half cooked stuff. My toddler had her first hamburger and she demolished it. I think they get an A+ from her as well. As always I love the free availability of fry sauce and ketchup. Was in town visiting and wanted a quick bite to eat. Lots of options on the menu. Ordered a chicken gyro no cucumber sauce add ranch. The chicken was seasoned well but were huge chunks which made it hard to eat bc i needed to cut them up to make them smaller. It was like one large breast filet cut into 3 pieces and placed in the gyro. The fries are basic no thrill. You need to add salt pepper to make them edible and the fry sauce is just mayo and ketchup. Solid burger option, in mu book. Probably not my top choice, but it'll do when you need to gets you the protein. Mine is a sad story of Valentine's Day woe, but I'll spare you the details and just let you know that I was in need of some burger, fries, and shake. I went with the namesake Astro Burger, a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and a big pile of pastrami on top. I like a good pastrami burger, and although the pastrami was a little dry, it had a nice taste. It didn't really all come together as I had hoped, but I'm not one to complain much when you're stacking meat on meat. It's a winning combination. The fries were good, not soggy, and they have plenty of fry sauce to pump into a little cup and take to your seat. My main concern was the shake. As I've clearly illustrated before, chocolate banana is the great measuring stick by which all shakes are judged. Unfortunately, they commit the grievous sin of using banana syrup instead of an actual banana in the shake. Painful, really. I can't recommend that shake, though others require investigation. All in all, I quite successfully ate my feelings on Valentine's Day. The service was snappy and all was well in the universe after Astro. read more

Today was not a good day for this location. The manager who can barely speak english mistook my order . I ordered a chicken gyro sandwich in a plate combo. At first he kept getting it mixed up, and i finally just said yes to whatever he said. Whats sad is that they've been successful before. This manager absolutely does not care. After that i get my food with two items. Fries and a sloppy sandwich. A gyro as white sauce , onions, And tomato. My how they managed to screw this up is beyond me . 7 people in the kitchen and still cannot produce results. I'm usually there at least once a week. Their hamburgers are among the best I've ever eaten. One of my favorites is their signature Astro Burger, which is their take on the classic Utah pastrami burger. It's perfect in every way. The pastrami is very flavorful and not too salty. There's just the right amount of cheese. The beef hamburger patty is nice and juicy and perfectly seasoned. I love it! I also absolutely love their bacon cheeseburger, which is the same as their Astro Burger but with bacon instead of pastrami. And--boy!--they're not messing around with the bacon! Three huge, thick-cut slices hang over the edge of the bun. I just had one for dinner earlier this evening. Perfect! Aside from the burgers, their fries are excellent. Crispy and salty on the outside and soft and fluffy and potatoey on the inside. Just a perfect, unpretentious french fry. Their milkshakes are sweet, thick, ice-creamy goodness (their caramel shake is really good fry dip). The one time I was slightly disappointed was when I ordered their chicken strip plate. It wasn't bad, but the chicken was just plain and uninspired. I think they're just pre-made frozen strips that they buy from a distributor and throw into the fryer when ordered. Again, not bad, just mediocre. Just get a burger, and you'll be fine. They have a ton of other menu options that I might get around to trying someday, but I usually stick with the burgers. I can't help it. The restaurant itself is always very clean and orderly. The dining area is quite large for a fast food place, so it's never hard to get a table, even when they're busy. The staff is always friendly, fast, and professional, which is becoming more and more difficult to find in the world of fast food. Anyway, I've gushed enough. Go there. Eat their tasty food. There are a few things that really bother me since having my son. (Where my mommies at????) Probably the biggest pet peeve is MEN who don't bother to help a woman with a stroller try to ricochet her way in the door. This goes especially for THE OWNER OF ASTRO BURGER who just babbled away as I could barely get my kid in his two heavy doors. To add insult to injury, I asked the service girl if he worked there and she lied and told me "no". Which was an obviously busted myth when his family and grandson my sons same age came in. The only saving grace was the Chef ( thank you!) who cooked me eggs after the (argh) order taker told me again "no", as it was like, 11:02am. I've been here about 5 times in the last few months.I also tried a couple of the other Astro Burger locations and they've all been good. (The one in Draper had some funky lemon rice though!) It's a slightly cheaper alternative to Crown Burger. I always ask them to put pastrami on a Jr burger for me and they're always cool about it. The Astro Burger is a fantastic version of the SLC pastrami burger. I have to say I think they do the best job of putting cheese on the burger than nay one in town, the burgers are super cheesy but not over the line. The beef is good and if you get grilled onions they are well seasons and tasty. The fries are real good too. The fry sauce is a bit to much on the mayonnaise side for me, bit if that's how you like it then you will be super happy. They also have a ton of shake options that are great.
