I have given several analog home videos tapes to transfer to digital, Anoka/Coon Rapids store. The first few were pretty good, very professional formatted on DVD and Zip drive, but some of the other. I noticed on a couple projects the end of the footage had home videos of people I didn't know. I brought them another project to work on and the entire footage is someone else's home video (African American female recently giving birth, newborn baby video). I had a great experience here. I had them digitize/transfer about ten VHS family tapes, several homemade DVDs, and a cassette tape. I found the service to be personable, professional, and very helpful in getting me what I need. The turn around was good, the time frame they provided was accurate. I mentioned to them that I have an old family wire recording from the 20s-30s. They said that they could work on transferring it, which is rare. We were driving by the location in Roseville MN and saw that Astound could transfer ANYTHING to DVD. I was sceptical, but after my husband spoke with a very helpful young man named Levi he discovered that all the old sheets and linens he's been trying to transfer to DVD for YEARS could finally be taken care of! I can't wait for the closer space this will free up in our house. Levi explained that while it would take 6 months to transfer the first towel, the remainder of the job could be done in no more than a year. Terrible, confrontational customer service. I was told they would find the correct spot to re-splice my film, prior to flash drive transfer. OMG. They put it at the beginning. I had to wait 15 minutes to speak with the manager. He said he would review the "video." He meant the video of me at the store conducting the original transaction. Even though we both saw on the video, that the customer service rep said they would indeed find the correct splice location, the store manager would not relent. I used these first two film transfers as a test. I have 46 more to go. No way will I use them. Go to National Camera. They are professional, believe in customer service and as less expensive. read more

I Dropped off my video tapes early November, in Coon Rapids, Mn. I asked if they could have them completed by Thanksgiving and was told it shouldn't be a problem but he couldn't guarantee it but they'd try. We watched 3 tapes at the studio, they were just old recorded tv shows and I threw them away & he told me if there was anymore, they would discard them. I contact the other office and the man I talked to was not customer friendly said the job would not be done until late December. I wasn't able to picked them up until a few days before Christmas, which was just enough time to mail them for Christmas. One CD was recorded tv shows and half of another CD was a duplicate. I would not recommend this company. it took to long to complete the job, it was very expensive and the quality is unacceptable. read more

I've used them several times. The first thing is be absolutely sure there's no way you can perform the transfer yourself, as frequently there is. Also, if there's no rush on your transfer (hey, you've already waited decades, right?) wait a little longer till one of their sales (call and ask!) as you could save 20% or 30% on your order. Finally, provide your own storage device (frequently a thumb-drive) because if they provide a new one, it's way overpriced compared to what you'd pay at Walmart. read more

I have used them in the past, and have been happy with their service. However, I recently took them something and they were supposed to have it ready today. About an hour before closing I decided to call as I hadn't heard anything. I was very disappointed to learn that my order would not be complete. One of their equipment pieces needs to be repaired. I felt like I was dealing with the comic book guy from the attitude... For what it's worth, I emailed them after having the poor conversation. Dropped off 5 VHS tapes at the SLP store. Not sure what was on them. Asked for each tape to be on its own DVD. When I picked them up there were only 4 DVDs. Matthew, the CSR, said 1 tape was blank and I shouldn't be charged for the 5th tape. He said he would contact Stephen "the owner" that works at the St. Paul store and he would contact me about a refund. Well...6 weeks later after numerous voice mails and emails "Stephen the owner" has never attempted to contact me about a refund. Needless to say, I will never return. 720p video transfer of 40-50 year old 8mm movies. 24fps film transferred at 16fps makes for old timey comically sped up movies. Like my old 8mm movies, 720p is also from a bygone era. Dropped over $500 for this service with the 33% off summer sale. Film with images only at the end of the reel were not included, but were paid for. Film with images at the front were included, but not images at the tail end if there was any dark space between. Same with 35mm slide conversions which no one bothered to blow the dust off of. Convert them, let me decide about the quality since I've paid for it!? Pro tip: If you have the time: Search for 'Wolverine 8mm' - same 720p/16fps quality for half the price that I paid for the this one conversion package? Zero stars really. I took a near mint 12" record to them. The CD had over 200 skips between the 3 songs. I wrote down at every time when it skipped they tried again with same results. I took in another near mint 12" of the same title and the same thing. I took both 12"s to TwoSquares and it's perfect the first time. They said both 12"s were in excellent shape. read more

Was very disappointed with this place. I had them do my wedding slide show. Brought in loose childhood pictures and a memory stick of pictures of my husband and I. They put the childhood pictures on the slide show, but forgot to put the memory stick of the pictures of my husband and I. I guess I should have reviewed the slide prior to showing it at my wedding, but I just trusted that they had completed it. So there were zero pictures of my husband and I at our wedding slideshow. They did say they would fix it after the fact, but that really didn't do us much good since the wedding was done and we probably would never watch the slideshow again. I understand that mistakes can be made and I would have been happy if they would have given me a partial refund. They were not willing to give any sort of a refund though, so I was pretty disappointed. read more
