Chose Safeguard Insurance based on Yelp reviews. How they managed to get a pristine 5 stars prior to my review escapes me, but maybe we just ended up with a horrible rookie insurance agent? Hubby & I had been considering our options for health insurance plans/providers, in hopes of finding 1 with a good deductible & maternity coverage; I'm 22 weeks into my pregnancy. We requested an appointment with Safeguard Insurance earlier in the day, & managed to get a same-day appointment. Great! My first impression of Safeguard Insurance being a comfortable, professional environment didn't last very long. Our insurance agent, who I will simply refer to as "N", made the quick assumption that I'm an "illegal", & went on to say that they cannot help illegals. Naturally, I suppose. His term. Illegal. One does not use that word lightly. It shouldn't matter if an individual strolls into the office in a straw hat, straight from a rice paddy. It might not actually be the job of an insurance agent to make swift, careless assumptions & label people to their face -- at least not in a professional setting, & most definitely not before one gets their facts straight. N appeared ready to end our appointment & escort us out the door, but I figured he might, regardless of his lack of tact & awareness of what is 'PC', actually turn out to be very knowledgeable about our issues. We corrected him, & I thought it best to move forward. N didn't bother hiding his stress as he struggled to figure out what answers to give us. While speaking with our new clinic's receptionist over the phone -- and he spent a lot of time on the phone asking people questions -- he referred to our situation as a "nightmare". He was unfamiliar with certain insurance terms ("What's ___?", he asked), & continually sighed & huffed as he grew frustrated with our complicated problem. Personally, I would have appreciated it if he simply apologized for not having had the answers we needed, if he had just told us that he would get back to us with some answers, as soon as he had them. N seemed hurried, dismissive, perhaps hoping that the next client's case would be more familiar & run-of-the-mill. We felt like we were wasting his time, when he was maybe wasting ours, because he didn't have the answers we were looking for. His recommendation was a health plan with a premium of $600. The company's owner has clarified that a rather high premium for health insurance is now the standard for the average family in Nevada; premiums simply skyrocketed in 2015, & this is beyond the control of Safeguard Insurance. He also adds that N is not a 'rookie agent', & has quite a number of sales under his belt. I'm not sure this works to N's advantage, because now I can't help but wonder why he was unable to provide us with good answers in a timely manner, why he was cracking under pressure, & why another agent (elsewhere) was able to provide us with answers within minutes. That review will be for another agency. Our trip to Safeguard Insurance left a bad taste in my mouth. It's highly likely that the company's other agents have better manners, & the agency is probably worth recommending based on the insurance plans they could recommend. However, I really won't know. We have no need to go back there. read more

After years of using this company I am continually impressed! We recently moved, and needed to switch a lot of insurance around. My agent, Jennifer, has gotten to know me on such a personal level, that she even knew to find an insurance that would cover having a trampoline in our backyard! She continually finds the best rates for our insurance needs, and explains my options. A week after our move, I was in a car accident. With something like that happening, being new to the area, having kids with me, and the new "cops don't report to non-injury car accidents" in Las Vegas, I was at a loss of how to handle everything. I called Jennifer, and she happened to be close to the accident. She came to the accident site! I didn't have a current insurance card in the car, so she pulled it up on her phone and gave it to the other party and the police (who actually showed up eventually). She got the at fault party's insurance for me as well. She basically walked me through the whole process of EVERYTHING. That wasn't the end, After a few hours she called me to check up on me, and to tell me how to file the claim. She also told me she had done some research on the other insurance, and advised me, based on their reputation, to file claims with both their insurance and mine. Best advise, as I was getting nowhere with them. I also have to say I love their e-mail signature forms, it makes everything so easy to get done, especially when we lived out of state. Just got off the phone with Nick Patterson. He was awesome! I needed to get a General liability coverage as an Event Planner and because they don't do many of those, he informed me that it would make more sense to go directly to a Special Event Planning insurance provider. He sent me a link to the provider and also spent time with me over the phone to walk me through their site and get a quick quote. He was able to help me even get a one year me policy that is less than what I paid last year for a one time event policy. Nick went the extra mile and stayed on the phone to make sure that my certificate was printed out and all the coverage I needed was listed on the certificate. Rarely do I find someone walk you through a website to purchase outside insurance when the rep doesn't even get credit for it. I will be referring him more business in the future!! read more

Sooo I had to get insurance on my POS I named "La Cucaracha" I called to many different places who said they would call me back and never did : ( I called here and this lady took my info, she was freakin awesome! Very nice and listened. It was the lunch hour so I assumed I would get a call later on, Jennifer contacted me about my insurance needs, gave me a quote and I was on my way there! The great thing about this agency is that the are all family! I love how family run places are, they seem to care more about the person. Jennifer and I sat down and reviewed my insurance quote then I ok'd it. The thing thats crummy about the way insurance works are the "tiers" I have never had an accident but almost 3 years ago in Colorado there was a terrible hail storm and I had to submit a claim, whilst I had the rental car another car hit me while I was at the parade and yet again I had to submit a claim.... so 2 claims made my insurance go up about 15$ NO BUENO! Its not the agencies fault, but I appreciated how she actually explained this to me! My son walked in and she let him play with her phone, which was super nice! She then helped me try to find an all day kinder! They really go out of their way to help their customers, which is RARE these days! Jennifer was super awesome and super professional! I'm a small independent car dealer in Las Vegas, Nevada. I was looking for the best rate on a garage policy and dealer's open lot. After shopping for the best rate with at least five different Insurance providers, I ran across Mike McCoy, an agent with American Best Agency, Inc. Mr. McCoy is very diligent, forthright, and asks the right questions to make sure he can solve all of your insurance needs, without packing extras into your coverage. I even checked ABAI out with the Nevada Division of Insurance and got a ringing endorsement. I'm not an easy shopper to deal with, because I'm very no-nonsense, direct, and thorough about my purchases. One of the insurance alternatives we were considering was my mother's current broker. This broker never returned any calls on time, couldn't answer questions regarding policies covering car dealers, and was a "take it or leave it" type of negotiator. The rest of the field in the running for my business were pretty much the same way, or returned calls (after 2 or 3 days), but were incompetent. Mike McCoy was the polar opposite. He knows his field, he does excellent discovery, he doesn't highball you, and if he needs to find out a detail about one of your specific needs or concerns, he'll get back to you ASAP via phone AND email. I'm at an age where I can still remember human beings answering customer service calls at utility companies, that's the kind of feeling you get with Mike at ABAI. The rest of the staff at ABAI is also very professional, competent, and courteous. Usually, these words are associated with astronomically overpriced, let me assure you, they're not. On Monday of this week, I called Adrianne, part of the staff at ABAI, for a binder to add a creditor as a payee on my dealer's open lot policy. Adrianne emailed me a copy of the rider and followed it up with a phone call in under 30 minutes. When was the last time you got service like that? By the way, that other agent, Miss Hardball, I persuaded my mother to cancel her policy with her and hand it over to Mike. The proof' is in the pudding, call Mike McCoy and you'll see what I mean. I have been getting car insurance through Safeguard (formerly America's Best) for about 10 years now and have found the staff and customer service to be very impressive. There are so many "online insurance" websites that claim amazing deals but I have been able to get the best deals through Safeguard and actually talk to a real live person who walks me through everything. My agent consistently checks in on me and informs me of ways I can adjust my plan to save money even when I haven't asked (like after my husband an I got married or when I have moved). I recently got into an accident and didn't call her (I will admit I may have been embarrassed as my driving record is not great). I was planning to sort it all out on my own when I got a call from her in a very kind and concerned manner inquiring about the accident and offering to take care of anything I needed. It was so nice to have someone who could step in to take care of all of the details. I used to live in Las Vegas and even though I have been in California 7 years, I still choose to stay with Safeguard because they are always available and only a call away. I have been a customer with Safeguard Insurance LLC, formerly known as American Best Insurance Agency, since I was driving at 18... my parents have been customers longer... the former owner...Doug Dye was my insurance agent... I believe he's the father of the owner and a couple of the agents. He was sensational. He was an amazing man who knew my sister and I by name, and that's hard as we are twins, and my dad by name as well. I have sat with him on several occasions for hours searching quotes and just talking about life. I have always liked the vibe of this office...the staff has always been friendly and helpful. When he retired his daughter, Jennifer, took over my account. She is incredible. She always re-shops my auto policy every 6 months to see if I can get a better rate. She is great at communicating through email and responds quickly. When I purchased a house in January, she advised me to use her friend at Allstate because it was a better rate than what they could offer me. I appreciated the fact that although she would love to keep my business...she was interested in getting me the best rate. Recently I found out that Allstate cancelled my policy without even telling me...for no reason... and it had been cancelled for 3 months. When I spoke to Allstate they were "rewriting" my policy...it took them almost 4 days to rewrite this policy. In the mean time, I emailed Jennifer and asked about a new quote for the house. Within minutes she returned my email with quotes, offering me better rates and bundling potential with my car insurance. The attention to detail and customer service blows me away. This is the type of company that I will always be loyal to.
