I passed the EPPP a few days ago, on the second attempt, studying with AATBS. The most important thing (and silly to say) is studying for this test and having efficient time organization. I am a full-time worker + parent, and it took me two years and four months to prepare for the EPPP. I found it extremely helpful talking with the counselor, Kristen W, who gave me crucial advice on organizing my study. Although, I did not start the coaching sessions at the beginning of my preparation (a huge mistake). Since I began talking to Kristen (April 2022), my score has improved, and I passed the test. I ha e mixed feelings about AATBS. I felt that the company is poorly run. They gave me certain quotes but then changed the package on me. I tried to correct the situation and was told m that management would contact me, which they never did. However, the saving grace of this company is Dr. Wilkinson. She was my coach and is an amazing human being. She went out of her way to support me, even through the birth of her child. She consistently checked my scores for progress, gave me great feedback, and emotionally supported me through the process. I truly could not have done it without her. Purchased for the national MFT exam. Nothing in the test prep is reflective of what is on the AAMFTRB exam. The classes were not helpful, I only got acess to part of my materials and when I reached out to the company they responded that this was not possible. I worked to get into the program and access my materials for months, until it expired and customer service would no longer help me. Lost time and money on this program. Can't recommend AATBS enough for studying for the EPPP! Prior to starting my package, I was so anxious about passing. But, I took all of the practice exams, completed the live workshops, and worked with a coach, Dr. Wilkinson, who is wonderful. I am so glad I did. I passed with flying colors on my first try. Customer service was also helpful. I decided to switch from digital to printed flashcards halfway through my package, and they had the printed flashcards sent to me with expedited shipping. Do NOT invest your money into this company's study material. I bought the MFT self-study package in preparation for the national MFT exam. Little did I know their material would be riddled with mistakes. I've found myself having to contact customer service for several basic mistakes. From errors in DSM diagnostic criteria to errors in genogram symbols, trust me when I say this material is not worth the money. The unease of not knowing if I'm studying wrong information and feeling like I have to double check things is awful. Not to mention when I expressed my dissatisfaction with customer service they were dismissive, stating that they had experts who reviewed and came up with the content. As someone fresh out of a masters program, I would say it would be embarrassing to call myself an "expert" and be making these basic mistakes. read more

I do not recommend using AATBS as your study program for the MFT and PCC Law and Ethics exams. I was acing the PCC L&E practice exams, which have straightforward questions and answer choices. THE ACTUAL EXAM QUESTIONS WERE NOTHING LIKE THE AATBS PRACTICE EXAMS. While I passed the exam, it was an incredibly stressful experience and I did not feel confident with my answer choices like one would expect after using a study program. Mistakenly, I purchased two study packages as I'm working toward dual licensure, one package I did not at all and do not plan to use. Thus far, AATBS has refused to refund the package I haven't used. First and foremost, I HIGHLY recommend AATBS to anyone who is planning to take the EPPP. I was introduced to this study program by my friends who used it and raved about the service. (Heads up: they all passed the exam!) With such great results, I thought there was no need to research other programs. I purchased the Pro-Package because it had everything I needed. It also came with the Pass Guarantee, which eased some of my anxiety about the EPPP. While it was a hard hit to the wallet, the package was worth it. I was even able to get a discount. (TIP: I found that AATBS offers discounts during part of the year. Also, it doesn't hurt to call and see what discounts are available.) Now I should start by stating that I took the free pre-test they offer on the site and was shocked by my score. It made me question whether I could even pass the EPPP. I immediately sought out support from the same friends who used this program and passed. They quickly assured me that this was typical as they too experienced the same thing after completing the test. So, for those who are disappointed by their pre-test scores, don't be discouraged. It is just part of the process. The materials: I found the books to be very comprehensive. They were great at condensing the information into manageable chunks so that I could retain the information. Section Quizzes, Domain Quizzes, and Testmaster Exams were fabulous at reinforcing the information I learned and helping me practice my test-taking skills. (Side note: I consider myself a successful student who just lacked the proper skills in taking standardized tests. My test-taking skills have grown thanks to the information provided by this program and the opportunities to practice it.) As I got more comfortable with the material, I added the audio lectures and online flashcards to enhance my studying process. The audio lectures came in handy while I was driving, especially in traffic. The online flashcards were useful during those times when I was out-and-about and only had a few minutes of downtime. I am unable to speak to the interactive workshop as this was the only thing in my package that I didn't use. My coach (Dr. Kristen Wilkinson): I am super thankful to have had her during this process! She was and is incredible! I cannot speak more highly of her and the guidance she provided me. She helped me in developing a study plan that was manageable and realistic. Adjustments to the plan were made based on my results on the Testmaster exams. One of many things I truly appreciate about my coach (Dr. Wilkinson) is how caring and supportive she was throughout my studying process. It was a challenging road full of unexpected family issues as well as issues with getting approval to sit for the EPPP. I eventually had to take about a month and a half off from studying to attend to the family issues and challenges with the board. Despite this hiatus, she was always there for me. She helped me realize that life happens, and adjustments can always be made to the study plan. When I resumed my studying, she provided me with lots of encouragement and highlighted the positives even though I was a little disappointed by the slight dip in my scores. After the check-in, however, I felt energized and ready to get back to studying. This was very typical with my check-ins with Dr. Wilkinson. It's one of many special gifts she has, and I can see why she is so successful as a coach. When I finally got approval to sit for the EPPP and reached that 70+ mark on the Testmaster exams, she was so excited for me. These were special moments for me, and I couldn't wait to share them with her because she was there for me and understood the challenges I had to face with each one to get to those points in the process. When the time arrived to take the EPPP, I felt very comfortable and ready to get it done. I took this program 3x- they gave me a discount (they no not honor their refund policy.). I took another course once and passed the first time. I then asked them for documentation of how many hours I spent in their program and they would not give me any sort of j formation. The other people I know who used this program also failed. Now that you have been out of graduate school and have been working for 3yrs, you must be looking for excellent study material to pass that Social Work exam for your license... well, stop here! By far, this is the best study practice material for your exam. If you are interested in purchasing ONLY the online study exams, you can call them directly to purchase. Their website does not advertise this option. From advise from my friends who took this before me, the mock study exams are the best for studying. And, they were right! Their exams are very similar to the actual test questions. It will also give you practice for taking the exam on the computer, but more importantly the rationale for each question is helpful in training you how to answer the questions. Purchasing the online mock exams will give you 6 different exams with ability to take them each x3. You have options to take the exam timed or not timed, you can save your test as you go and have the ability to stop and take at a later time, and you have the option to have instant results after each answered question or wait until the end of the exam to score your answers. I've had a wonderful experience using AATBS hosted test products over the past 2 years. For my Counseling Psychology finals, we had to take a subset of the MFT licensing exam and I passed with 98% after studying with AATBS. Today, I had a counseling session for my Law & Ethics exam with a coach, Caitlin Newcomb, and she appeared very knowledgable and provided encouragement and confidence to me. Highly recommend. It might feel expensive when you are not making any money during your internship, but it saves so much time and stress. read more

I am giving 2 stars since their customer service was very helpful and I admitted me not reviewing the codes in details. I found the questions many times irrelevant to the real case scenarios and they ask questions that has low chance of appearing on the real exam. The whole point of test prep company is to maximize our chances of passing the exams by providing right questions ask and being knowledgeable on the contents of the exams. One question literally differentiated the difference between HIPPA rule and CA rule and how one provides greater access to PHI. I found them confusing rather than helping by phrasing the questions to test the "details" of the rules and regulations rather than giving us a questions to think for ourselves in real situations. read more

When comparing the price point of AATBS with the quality of resources they provide, I honestly do not believe it is worth it. I say this due to misspellings within content areas, questions with false "correct" answers on practice exams and poor quality audio recordings that have not been updated in 2+ years. This company provides the bare minimum while charging a premium rate. Additionally, when you provide feedback on incorrectly scored items--they simply say they will "look into it" and you receive no further information. With all this said, I did pass eppp..but not without a lot of stress due to worrying AATBS truly was not sufficient. Save yourself a headache and opt for another program. read more

Do not use this very expensive site for LMHC exam (NCMHE) Preparation. They have resourced out their exam simulation to Casepro and it is awful. The exam is formatted to provide additional information for correct answers which you base the next set of questions upon. Their simulation does not offer this information. They only provide weirdly listed single digit columns of numbers as results which are impossible to interpret beyond pass/fail. It does not offer the user any way to learn from errors and is constantly changing formats. The customer service cannot answer basic issues and report "they are in process of upgrading" and get similar complaints frequently. Go with a company that does fewer exams and specializes in the field. read more

After spending hundreds of dollars and renewing due to not using the practice tests in the 3 month period, I am still frustrated with the AATBS material. The questions are worded improperly, the grammar is AWFUL, and many of the questions (far, far, far too many) have the answer in the question. I have taken dozens of snippets to document the repetition of this situation. Here is another hint, 100% of the time, again I say 100% of the time, if one of the answer options has a set of parenthesis and a phrase after it, that is the correct answer. It is not challenging to choose after you've gone through 100 questions. Unfortunately, it's not helpful either. Here's an example of both situations combined... "___ proposes XYZ. Tolman's research...". One of the options is "_____ (TOLMAN)". Far too many questions give you the answer. Another examples "___ are used for XYZ and include lithium and anticonvulsants". The answer options included "Mood Stabilizers (Lithium and Anticonvulsants). Um, yes, clearly because the question stated that. Another question had the SAME answer listed for options "a" & "b". I chose "a" and was counted as incorrect because "b" was correct. THEY ARE THE SAME ANSWER!! If I spend over $500 on study material, can't the grammar be proofread? It's very frustrating on top of everything else. I would not endorse AATBS for anyone wanting to prepare for the LCSW. I don't like the format and certain don't find it helpful. When I contacted the company I was told "purchases are final after you open them". Well, how do you know a product is unsatisfactory unless you open it? I have never failed a test, always excelled in school and testing, yet these practice exams have me stuck at a 65% pass rate. From reading other reviews, it is comforting to know that the information being tested is not what we should be preparing for. I will finish my material with the company because I paid for it but would not use them again. I hope this review is helpful to potential clients but more so for the company to get the information honed in and clean up the current information. read more

The material is overwhelming and the EPPP still was surprisingly much more challenging than the practice exams but I still passed after 4 months of diligent review. I just took the first LCSW exam and found it to be very different from what AATBS presented in their study materials. AATBS test, first off, are very repetitive which is not helpful at all. They present questions in the same basic structure over and over in practice exams and what you get in the real exam is nearly zero structural repetition. The test does not ask you about the "best" or "first" thing you do in XY or Z situation, about how a certain therapeutic school would approach a case, and hardly ever about developmental issues as they were presented in AATBS. The practice exams felt very elementary and the actual test was much more robust and slightly more challenging. Granted, adrenaline and nerves have an impact, but the practice materials do not give you proper insight into what to expect on the exam. There is way, way, way too much ancillary material to read/study when the focus could be on actual decision-making in moment. Oh, and those downloadable lectures...dear, God shoot me they are so boring! Come on, this is no way to teach. Boo. I passed the first exam so that's a positive plug for the materials (or for my smarts!). Thankfully, I also had a copy of the BTA materials that a friend gave me. I'll likely check out Grossman or BTA for the second exam in addition to the AATBS stuff that I already purchased, because who wants to wait 6-months if you don't pass one of these torturous tests? I'd advise against using them, however. read more

My experience with AATBS went beyond all expectations. I passed the MFT Standard and Vignette exams on my first try, as a direct result of the prep material and practice tests provided by AATBS. Were there a lot of hours involved? Yes, but only because I was intent on learning and understanding the critical legal, ethical, and clinical responsibilities of my profession. AATBS aren't about tricks or games; they're about enhancing what you've learned in supervision as an intern and getting you ready for licensure. Everything I learned was essential, and was included in some way on the exams. Several of the questions actually turned up on the exam, verbatim. The exams were grueling, but I felt more comfortable as I progressed through them, and confident that I would pass. Even though they were helpful, I would skip the flashcards and DSM 5 powerpoint; not much worth paying extra for. What were essential and worth paying extra for were the workshops with Kathy Wexler. She presented the material in such a clear and simple way, provided great insights into the exam process, and gave me lots of confidence as I approached the exam dates. Those are a must, IMO. I must start by saying AATBS is what you make of it. It provides all the necessary material to successfully pass the EPPP. However, it also requires extreme dedication and time investment to maintain progress, which I did not initially have. When I fully committed to my studying progress was significant. This was in large part, if not entirely due to the support of my coach, Kristen Wilkinson, Psy.D. She was specific in providing study plans, techniques, timelines, and encouragement even when I was at my most pessimistic. Dr. Wilkinson was pragmatic, optimistic, and realistic in what I needed to do to be successful. I truly owe my recent passing to her dedication and support. I ordered training material in November. It took over 2 weeks to receive (most likely not the fault of AATBS). I was told a coach would contact me, which never happened. I was set to test in December and because the material was taking so long, I requested to return it because I would not have enough time to use it. I have spent countless time on the phone and made now in excess of 10 phone calls to resolve this. I still have the package sitting here unused and no resolution. It is extremely poor customer service that would promise calls back and never return them and allow this to go on for almost 6+ weeks. I finally reached someone today and was told that the supervisor said I can return materials and would receive credit towards CEU's, but they wouldn't refund my $? So, basically at this point I am out hundreds of dollars and no further than I was weeks ago! read more

I've been studying foe the EPPP with AATBS now for about 5 months. The material seems well laid out, but the customer service is terrible. I've called on three separate occasions and still was not able to get the help i needed. I can't speak highly enough about the materials and coaching AATBS provides. I was so nervous to take the EPPP and really doubted whether I could pass it. I bought the package last 4th of July. I spent a bit of time in August and September studying then life got busy and I fell off. In February I recommitted myself. Fast forward to April/May when my test scores still weren't cutting it. I made an appt with one of your coaches (Erin Elmore) and she helped me focus my studying and co-created a plan that over the next 6 weeks brought me to passing scores. I highly recommend using AATBS study materials, for sure. However, I will say, it was definitely a challenging road for me, and there were periods over several years where I was not studying. It feels amazing to wake up today and not panic over studying for my clinical exam! Thanks to AATBS I passed both my L&E and my CCE! I used the whole program. I liked there was 5 mock exams and a handful of the real exam questions were very similar. I liked how the exams broke down my score in the domains so I could focus on my weak areas for the exam. My final mock I scored 88%. I read all the books, highlighted, made outlines and my own flashcards. In addition, I enjoyed the online AATBS flashcards and domain quizzes that allowed me to focus in the areas I was weakest in. I used the coaches both for anxiety and strategies. I also listened to their online lectures they had on the dsm which was one of my weak areas. I was freaking out over taking the exam 7 months pregnant and got encouragement on this group. I'm so happy and relieved it is over, I can go back to living my life and getting ready for my baby! So grateful! read more

I am giving them two stars based on the fact that I passed my first MFT test last week. They throw everything at you. Books, note cards, testing banks, etc. I studied for close to three months. Multiple hours per day in the last month. The practice tests are brutal and the rationales don't make sense. I brought 10 questions to my supervisor and two other clinicians I work with and the best score out of the ten was two correct and not based on the rational given. The actual test was fairly tough and the practice tests weren't all that similar. After 3 months of studying and 4 practice tests I was able to get a 70% on the practice test. I bought TDC for the second test. Their program is a total of 26 hours. I'm about an hour in and already am much more satisfied with their study prep than AATBS. read more

The amount of information that is provided is not helpful for the exam, The practice simulations only mirror what you will see on the actual exams in that AATBS organizes their sims with "Information Gathering" and "Decision Making"; AATBS only provides 18 simulations. BE WARNED - the NBCC changed test companies and is now working with Pearson Vue. I took the AATBS package for the MFT CA Standard written exam. I passed. The things I like about it is that these are people who keep things simple for learning. It doesn't give you extra stuff to worry about like other programs. It keeps learning to a minimal and the test bank had really great rationales for answers. They also provide phone consultations which were helpful. the workshop was only a one-day workshop- it was short quick and extremely effective. Keeping it simple but effective with a money back guarantee really helped so much. They also provided a desensitization CD to help get over the exam taking anxiety. Mostly helpful, was able to learn through their materials for the EPPP. A more condensed online set of reading material would have been better then all the books. The 4 day seminar was helpful as well. I passed the test with a score of 540, it was my sixth time taking it. Used several other study materials as well that were more condensed which helped as well (had to change materials because I was getting practice effects by taking the same 8 tests over, and over...) So very disappointed with AATBS. After I paid the money for the testprep materials, I wanted to go on line and confirm that I was getting what I had paid for, and basically get an understanding of the differences between CA BBS MFT TESTPREP and TESTPRO. I mean, who would really know what this mean unless you work for AATBS, right? So I get on line, the clock starts and my three months is over before I know it. I call AATBS and state that I have only taken one exam but the time has run out due to me not being able to start my study process. I, of course called customer service and explained to them how I hadn't even started studying yet. The customer service lady was having none of it. She sated that I would need to pay 65$ more for one more month. I found this to be outrageous, and asked to talk to her supervisor. The supervisor had no mercy either. I will never recommend them. The three months they give you is not enough, and they are heartless. And if I'm going to pay somebody 500 bucks, I'd like to at least know that they have an understanding of fairness. Boo for AATBS.
