Both Donna and Tami did not disappoint! Tami, who owns and runs the school, was great - she was full of knowledge, which she was willing to share. I was surprised at the extensive list of top notch visiting artists she's coordinated to teach at her school. Will definitely be back. Donna was a great teacher. First, she picked and prepared the exact materials that each student would need to complete their project. She even included some tools that she created herself. She was thoughtful and attentive to each student in the class no matter their work style or skill level. Her enthusiasm for her art was contagious. Very excited to finish my project!

Duncan was able to communicate and teach my son and me in a great way, ensure we learned, had fun - and was able to adjust his teaching and convo to my 18yo teenage son and me as an adult. Duncan also just brought positive surf culture vibes and wasn't patronizing to us newbies. At the end of the session, we were able to catch waves on our own and had a great time. The board and wetsuit that we used were in good condition and made for a good experience. A few call outs for others to be aware of 1. Mondos beach access. You'll need to access the beach by way of a steep rocky area. Be careful and if SBSS asks you to carry your board down, please be careful or ask them to do it for you when in doubt. 2. Hours of operations Website says hours from Mar to Nov are from 9:30am - 5pm. We rented the boards and wetsuit thinking we would have it until 5pm but they said their last lesson ended at 2;30 and we needed to turn it in then. Please check in with them 3. No showers Bring some water to rinse off after you get out of your wetsuit.

I had been taking informal driving classes from family for about a month before I decided to Steve…read more It was well worth the investment. I was a bit of a rare case. A New Yorker in California, aged 37 with no license. He has lots of easy tips and tricks that make the rules of the road (and of driving safely) easy to remember. Sometimes I still say them to myself while driving on my own. I am a nervous test taker and a few days before my DMV test, for my last lesson, we drove around the Goleta test site. This was AMAZING. We went through the route and during the test it was exactly as we had practiced. I already knew which way to turn and at times wanted to put the blinker on before I was given directions by the examiner. Steve went through details like which parking spot to choose before the text begins and why. I passed on my first try :) All in all, an A+ experience for Steve and his lovely wife who helped schedule the driving classes. Highly recommend.
