The space on Charlotte Rd is tiny -- three little tables and a small counter area -- and seems to cater to the local lunch crowd and some regulars that drop by on Saturdays. It's charming and low-key. All this, and the prices are great -- £5.50 for the steak sandwich, £6 for the burger. [My only complaint has been that they're not open past 3pm or on Sundays -- but this a complaint no more, as Ruby has opened another branch in Hoxton Square. This location is larger and more like a restaurant, with restaurant hours. It's currently byob and the menu doesn't have the burger yet -- but my favorite steak sandwich is there, as are the great prices. So, so happy! (Hey, I'm enthusiastic about my food!)

When he put it on the grill and the burger was already cooked (just without the a nice coating from the grill), my hopes for a good burger were beginning to fade. They continued to fade when the chips came out and they were a bit soggy. Triple cooked chips? Soggy? Unfortunately this was the case. Many were also not cooked inside. I don't even know how this is possible. There was also little to no rosemary flavor. I like rosemary so it made me a bit sad. The burger itself was surprisingly tasty. However it was completely well done. That's not okay. It was still dripping in grease, but just not that appealing to have a well done burger between my lips. The toppings were extremely nice though. I opted for the 'make your own salad' (which starts you off with mixed lettuce and your choice of dressing) and from there you can add as many extras as you'd like. BE CAREFUL though because each item comes with a price (£1 for chicken/tuna/etc, 60p for avocado/sundried tomatoes/etc, and so on) and before you know it, you're spending £10 on a salad! There are just so many good options though. Not just tomatoes (yawns) or cucumber (checks watch) or red onions (sighs heavily). Lately I've been going for a combination of avocado, grilled mushrooms, fresh coriander, pine nuts, cherry tomatoes, and grilled chicken, all with the balsamic dressing.
