Apart from a few wonderful, helpful and kind staff members, the service here declined tremendously in the last few years. The facility appears nice on the outside but appeared to be in a complete remodel and was really crappy inside with everything torn apart. Should not be open during this time. My grandmother hardly received any real rehabilitative services while here and we are not even really sure what they did for her for an entire month. Waste of time and money. Update to this: 2 weeks after original post my grandma died from Covid contracted by a staff member at Aspen. We are devastated. read more

I was taken care of by the most wonderful people. All I had to do was click a button and one of them would be there to help me. Private room, 3 meals a day (although they were almost tasteless because of "No Salt (so bring your own)". I was there for 3 months, so I became friends with most of the staff. read more

Not impressed!! My mother arrived after hip surgery and upon visiting there isn't any checking in at the front desk to visit her which is odd. Security seems a little lacks. Staff not very informative about what she will be doing. Hopefully the Rehabilitation people will be better than the daily staff. HANDICAP STALLS ARE TOO FAR FROM THE FRONT ENTRANCE. its clean in her room. When i walked down the hall a patient was laying on the floor which was concerning to me. read more

Recently my wife Pamela had to spend time at Aspen in Meridian, ID. following treatment for a spinal injury. Aspen was highly recommended by St. Luke's Hospital also in Meridian. In spite of the restrictions of COVID we found the staff very attentive and accommodating . Everyone we encountered is to be commended for the care given to my wife. The facility was clean, quiet and well appointed. The food was very good and the food service staff was very eager to provide a flexible menu. The Nursing staff listened to my wife and was always available despite the extra workload and complex issues mandated by COVID. The Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy staff were not only professional but pleasant. Insofar as the administration was concerned I was very pleased. My family was considered in every way. Hans was the one person I had direct contact with. He made sure that we were given every opportunity to visit personally with my wife within the confines of the COVID mandated restrictions and for that we are greatly thankful. His sincerity and attention to our needs was evident from the very start. I don't give reviews like this very often , but when a family member has to be placed in such a facility there is a lot of concern regarding the level and quality of care they will receive. I wanted to take the time to give Aspen the credit it richly deserves and help those having to make decisions like this a little easier. Thank you all so much ! read more

DO NOT STAY HERE! It looks great when you tour the facility & the staff is friendly, but, and this is huge BUT, they do not provide the level of care you'd expect. My mom was admitted post op for a femur fracture. We had two issues with the care provided there. One, my mom told 2 CNAs on different days that she had a bladder infection. She was told the nurse would be informed so she could be tested. It never happened. Two, and this is a huge one, my mom got SALMONELLA from eating there. She had horrible diarrhea & was diapered, which led to open sores, which led to SEPSIS! We had to inform the nurse about her fever & a few hours later that night she was transferred back to hospital with a fever of 104.6. After battling for her life & 7 days in hospital (post op was only 5), we transferred her to ST. LUKE'S/ELKS REHABILITATION where she is getting care just like in hospital! It is single bed occupancy here, the staff is on top of it & friendly & my mom has a beautiful view of the foothills from her bed. I sure wish we had started here! read more

Everything appeared to be lovely, nice and clean. Nice new room after being updated. We had heard good things about it, so we chose it because of this. After being there after a surgery for my husband, it became clear it wasn't up to par. Although the food was good, and for the most part the people were nice enough, they really weren't doing any physical therapy. Oh they came in the room, and had him stand up a few times. Husband ended up with an infection and had to go back to hospital and have surgery again. They couldn't get his blood sugar under control for some reason. Then when he was able to return, they didn't want him back, apparently they aren't equipped to handle someone with health issues. Odd since they are a Rehabilitation center. We would NOT recommend this place to anyone with rehab health issues! They weren't "full" they had rooms that are empty! I was there and saw for myself! Just an excuse to not take him. Pretty bizarre if you ask me. He's not a mean man! They even told me how nice he was. The CNAs seemed nice but not exactly instructed well, the RNs were OK. Their doctor didn't contact his Primary himself, I had to call him myself regarding his blood sugar and his surgeon to let him know something wasn't right. Thank goodness I did! He had sepsis! I have been in and out of Nursing Homes for years in my line of work. This is an excellent building. The Leadership has been in place for 13 years and really understands the business and how to put patients first. Aspen Transitional Rehab facility is not the place you want to send loved one to recover. The facility is marginal at best. You need to stay on top of the nurses to be sure your loved one is getting the care they need. They are friendly but do not pay attention to detail. The therapy staff was not what we were use to and not the best. The CMA's are young, friendly and try to do a good job. Beware, they have a hairdresser to supposedly meet the patients needs but seriously, don't have a clue on how to cut hair. We would never recommend anyone to go there. read more

I have had nothing but great experience with Aspen Rehab. I have had my mother there twice for recovery for two different hip surgeries. I have also had four of my clients there for recovery. No place is perfect, too much can change. The Administrator has been in charge for many years as has the Director of Nursing. The same for the therapist. They have always done a great job. As a care manager and family member, they have always worked well with me as a central team member. read more

Aspen Transitional Rehab has a very nice and clean facility. It does not have the medical smells or institutional feel of a common Skilled Nursing Facility. The Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists do a very good job. They are the anchor of the facility. Most of the CNAs are caring and capable. Some are outstanding. Some CNAs appear to just be working their hours. Most of the LPNs are great and caring. The kitchen and dining room is better than most. Better communication with the kitchen would improve the patient experience. BUT, Aspen needs management to take an interest in the level of care and establish systems/protocols to make sure patients get all the care they need. Medication dispensing can be haphazard and even troublesome. Special diets could be better accommodated. Patients recovering from surgery need additional protein. Having to chase down a protein shake twice a day is not optimal. The kitchen staff have always been helpful when asked but should have a system that includes the regular provision of additional nutritional needs. Housekeeping is clueless. They lose things. There is no process for recovering lost items. Housekeepers smoking outside within the breathing space of patients is unacceptable. The administrator appears to be totally disconnected from patients. He never introduced himself. He never checked on them. He sets the model for the culture of care. read more

My grandfather was a patient here and the facility was great. The building was beautiful but the care was even better! 5 stars!
