I tried to contract American Landscape to do some drainage work at my house. I originally had a…read moreconsultation set up for Saturday (and had scheduled my day around making sure to be at my house during the scheduled time), and was called 1 hour ahead of the appointment to be told that Greg would not be able to make it on time. I understand that delays happen and wasn't super broken up about it, so I called the offices and had the appointment rescheduled for 3:30 on Sunday. Come Sunday, Greg calls to confirm the appointment. We confirmed that the appointment was made for 3:30, but I had a flexible schedule so I let him know that if later works for him then we could meet at that time, though the 3:30 time would also work if he preferred. He suggested meeting at 4, which was completely agreeable to me. Indeed, at 4 he came by and said hello while I was speaking with my tenants out front. The conversation was to inform them about a worker who would be replacing the locks in their apartment and to nail down some leasing details, so I told Greg I would meet him in the back yard shortly. At 4:05 (according to my phone), I went to the back and Greg was nowhere to be found. I circled the property looking, to no avail. At this point (approximately 4:07) I called his cell, and he very curtly informed me that I "made a mistake by making him wait", and to "not call the company ever again". In Summary: American Landscaping cancelled the initial consultation session for the originally scheduled day, was allotted another 30 minute extension for the rescheduled appointment, and then drove off without a word when I had the audacity to take 5 minutes to complete a conversation with my tenants. This behavior is confusingly unprofessional.

Stone Arch Landscapes and Alex completed a project for me in 2022, and within a couple of months…read morethe retaining wall started leaning, and the pavers dropped along the wall. This wall is now out of plumb by 3-1/2" over a 4'-0" area, so out of plumb by almost 1 inch per foot. The pavers have large 1/2" plus gaps in this area, and there is concern that this wall is going to fail, and will fall. Alex has been notified numerous times each year about this issue, and he has refused to respond or answer my calls, texts or emails, he is ignoring the problem. When looking back, Alex failed to acquire a permit or to notify the city, which is required with any wall that is over 4'-0" in height, and he did not complete an engineering review which is also a requirement for walls of this height. Because of the lack of response from Alex and his refusal to warrant his work, I am forced to get quotes to repair and will need to pursue legal means to resolve the issue. Beware.

We had a fantastic experience working with Pieter at TBG Outdoors. He and his team did an amazing…read morejob on our project, which included a boulder retaining wall, seeding and laying sod, mulch installation, and a custom paver patio. From start to finish, Pieter was professional, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. The quality of the work really stands out--everything looks incredible and was done with great attention to detail. The boulder wall is both functional and beautiful, and the custom patio turned out even better than we imagined. The yard transformation with the sod, seed, and mulch completely changed the look of our outdoor space. Pieter Planted evergreen trees and put rock and edging around the exterior of our shop. Pieter communicated clearly throughout the project, showed up when he said he would, and made sure everything was done right. We couldn't be happier with the results and would highly recommend Pieter and TBG Outdoors to anyone looking for high-quality landscaping and outdoor projects.

You can see how this relationship broke down, and why anyone would refuse to recommend them after this experience: I engaged Hedlund Irrigation & Landscaping Inc in October 2020, on the suggestion of a tree doctor, to plant a series of Arborvitae on the border of my property, as well as irrigating it. We initially tried to schedule it that fall, but things were pushed back (understandable). At the last moment, with the unseasonably warm December, it was suggested we plant the trees then -- but on the advice of my tree doctor, I requested to push to early spring. Everyone agreed. At this point the relationship was great. Spring passed. I was attending a family emergency when I was told they were going to plant in June. The hottest part of the year. This was the worst possible time to plant. 3 of 6 trees died. I wrote several times to see if we could rectify this problem and have been stonewalled since. It is now late September. They got their money and ran. This is not a reliable company. Avoid.
