Stay away! Keep your family away! Do not trust this place for anything!! Aspen Dental is one of the biggest scams I have seen in years, and this office in Sun City is awful! First of all, my 73-year-old mother went in to see a dentist for an infected tooth because they claimed to accept walk-ins. After giving them her insurance information, they scheduled an appointment for her to come back. The 2nd visit was nothing more than x-rays, the doctor confirming she had an infected tooth (along with numerous other problems that they could also fix for her), and more paperwork for a loan to get all this work done. No antibiotics, no offer of anything to help her that day... nothing. Just another appointment and instructions to bring $75 as a down payment. For the third appointment, she gave them her $75, filled out even more paperwork, and was then told she gave her money to the wrong person in the office and would have to give them another $75. They refunded the original $75 after a few days, but she didn't have another $75 in her checking account so offered cash (which they would not accept). She left the office in tears, called their corporate headquarters in Chicago and asked for someone in charge to which the answering gentleman responded by hanging up on her. She tried 3 more times, was hung up on twice more, and they wouldn't even answer the fourth call. After leaving a few reviews to warn people away, my next step is to file complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission, and the American Dental Association. read more

The very worst place for anyone to go. I came in with a tooth ache at a 10+ and all they wanted to do was talk about treatment plan for 56k. They were to call antibiotics in and never did for the infection in my tooth. Spent 2 1/2 hours to recieve no care what so ever. And still i pain!!!! First thing i go in for my 11:00 appointment. About 6 people standing at the front desk and they tell me its a company wide system outage and i have to pay cash or check. I don't carry a check book and luckily i had $303.00 cash to pay for my cleaning. My girl was cleaning my teeth and the rest of them were singing and laughing. Sounded like a party. Unfortunately (like many others) my experience with aspen dental was not good. I am new to the area and I randomly found this place on google maps because it's close to where I live. I had a crown that fell out and called them to make an appt to have it recemented. For my initial appointment I did not have dental insurance and the female front desk told me she would wave the exam/X-ray fees. Then once I got there, they told me that was not the case. I showed up to my appointment on time and had to reschedule my initial appointment which I notified them. I checked in and signed the initial patient forms which took only about 5 minutes and then waited for about 30-40mins before being seen. Another gentleman who came in way after me was called in after I already checked in and waited. Then they took a bunch of X-rays which is fine but after that it went downhill. I assumed as I informed them I was just coming in to get my crown reattached and after waiting for a long time again, a hygienist came into the room to examine my teeth, which I didn't ask for. I've been to plenty of dentist appts and NEVER have I had this happen. I wanted to say something about why I'm getting a service I did not request without prior notice but just went along with it. She then proceeded to inspect my gum and said I need a deep cleaning otherwise known as root/planing and scaling. Then finally the actually dentist came in who was nice but then she inspected my tooth with the missing crown after they took X-rays and did a visual exam. I asked her if it's possible to reattach the crown as it was not damaged when it came off. She said yes it can be recemented and also even said "it clicks right in". She then had me go to the front desk and the hygienist that said I need the deep cleaning, told me that they would not put the crown back on AFTER the main dentist told she could until I get a deep cleaning. I did not have insurance at the time and asked what the cost would be. They said it was just over $500 $150 for the recement of the crown and $350. I then asked if they can just recement the crown without the cleaning and they refused. I then came back on the 1st after my dental insurance kicked in and once again waited forever to get called into the back office. Since at this point, I already didn't trust them and think they just milk you for every penny and ONLY care about the money and NOT you as patient. I went in and had the hygienist do just one quadrant for the part of my mouth that had the missing crown so I could get my crown back on. It took her about 10-15 mins at most to do the cleaning that they wanted to charge me $350 for before I had insurance. Then the dentist came in and once again waited forever, they do not respect your time at all. After the cleaning, they wanted to do more X-rays and then she also did an exam on the tooth and said I had a cavity and would need to get a whole new crown which costs $600 with insurance. I mentioned to her and asked why when she saw me literally a week ago and told me she could reattach it AFTER they took X-rays and did the exam. She apparently did not see the cavity the 1st time I came in. However, that day, they took X-rays with the crown OFF and she did an exam with it OFF and told me I could get it recemented. Now a week later all of a sudden I have a cavity that she "didn't notice" the 1st time I came and now I need a whole new crown. Then she said she might be able to remove the decay and see if it fits and basically changed her mind after I made it clear I can't afford a crown. She then left again and said I'll be right back in 5 minutes after I just told her I have somewhere to be because I didn't expect a 15 min cleaning and a simple crown recement would take 2 hours. She comes back 15-20 mins later and then I had to take ANOTHER round of X-rays and at this point I was about to just walk out. I came back to room and she then was trying to convince me to get a crown and even finagled the billing with my insurance so it would cover it.. she then eventually recemented it. Avoid this place at ALL cost. Moral of story...they are very shady and only care money. read more

I went in for a broken tooth in my gums and had really bad infection and having blood in my mouth every morning. I went they took alot of X-Rays and seen three specialist and then I was told I would get a prescription to help get the infection out of my mouth. The Dr left and I never got a prescription. But I was satvdown with someone that went over Care Credit cause they wanted $10,144.00 for other things they found. I still have the broken tooth in my gums and still bleeds. Believe all the one star reviews, this is the most disorganized disaster of an office I've ever been to. They lost all my information and I showed up for the appointment I had scheduled which they said they never had in their system and would not reschedule. They wasted 20 minutes of my time not even figuring out a new time for me to come back when I showed up for this appointment. the guy at the front desk is very condescending and instead of the doctor talking directly to you, they speak through the front desk members like they're OZ or something. I don't recommend this office at all. They have terrible customer service. I am in the middle of getting implants. I actually have the implants in my mouth and am up to ordering the teeth to go over them. They needed information from my dentist in order to them. This was sent to them in October by the ny dentist. They said they never received the email. I then forwarded the information to them again. No one can tell me if the parts have been ordered. I've called numerous times and I get put on hold for 45 minutes or longer or disconnected and then get told they don't know and will look into it and call me back. No one ever follows up. I've emailed the dentist and the office manager numerous times and get no response. Also, I've been given four different amounts as to the remaining balance on my account. I've already paid $14,000. Had a need for emergency care because a front tooth broke off at the gum line. Apparently an emergency is not considered a same day appointment. Had to wait till next day. Nothing went smoothly. They extracted the rest of the tooth which was very painful. But at checkout the extreme stress of the experience didn't allow for clear thinking and after payment was made a short time later it was discovered they had not only charged for two teeth extractions when only one was removed but also prebilled for services not rendered yet. Over $1000 worth! An appointment was made for the following morning without explanation of why but at this point I was only interested in having my large payment credited back to my card. When calling their office the next morning prior to the second appointment it was revealed that the extraction was not completed because they could not control the bleeding. They refused to have the dentist explain what happened the day prior and refused to credit my account. The following day was informed the dentists last day of employment was in two days. Yes I agree with the many other Clients that have went here. This place is awful unless they have gotten new staff the staff that work in back is rude as well. The front desk staff was great but everyone except for the young skinny dental assistant were all rude including the dentist herself. The pregnant hygienist told me my teeth were filthy and who does that. The dentist herself was rude I thought for some reason they just didn't like me but after reading the reviews I see it was just their nature. I didn't even finish my Invisalign treatment because I refused to go back there and they blocked me from going to the Riverview office to finish my treatment. Horrible medical care! The Lower denture did not fit and they would not schedule an appointment for almost three weeks after original poor fitting. Then they canceled the appointment because (as I found out from my insurance company) they botched the billing. Wrong code for the procedure they did. They insist I pay $2000 before they will do the denture adjustment and seem unable to call my insurance company to find out how to do billing. I called the corporate office to complain (twice) and never received a call back. They have blown it on all levels - medically, billing, customer service - I trifecta of incompetence. I was charged $5,000 for an upper denture that was hideous and a lower partial that popped out every time I opened my mouth to speak and I'm still wearing the temporary denture after four years. Long story!! Dr. Keen was kind until they got my money and then she turned rude and unprofessional. They also charged me for a procedure called a frenulectomy that WAS NOT performed. My elderly parent (90+) went to the Sun City Center Aspen Dental Office for new dentures, which was covered under Medicare, however after consultation, the office contacted me to suggest upgraded dentures at an additional cost ($1000+ dollars) for better fit. After no more than one day, if was evident the dentures were too large and were a bad fit. Caused significant pain. The bad fit was affirmed by fellow family members and friends based upon viewing the dentures (significant overbite based upon denture formation) as well. Called the office and confirmed with the Office Manager Mr. Christian Holzwarth, the dentures were not wearable and they needed to be returned. Advised to have parent "just come in." Went into office and my parent was required to wait an extended period of time and then was advised to come back later in day??? Second office visit for what reason during these viral times??? Had to pay for second transportation. After confirmation of the inadequate fit, was provided a "Denture Money Back Guarantee" that provides for" 5 day reimbursement" back to original payment via credit card. Waited 1 week and contacted Mr. Holzwarth and he confirmed the reimbursement was in process and it would take longer due to many authorizations needed to process. 2 weeks later called again and left a message with follow-up email with copy of original payment and signed guarantee. A week later called 2 more times with 2 more emails, received absolutely no call back and no email response. The lack of response, no call back or email response (3 calls with messages left and 3 emails) by Mr. Holzwarth is not acceptable from a professional standpoint and the failure to return the money to an elderly parent per the signed agreement is not acceptable. This company is more like a used car dealership then a health care professional. My quote for a deep cleaning and scaling was a whopping $1923. Astronomical! Furthermore I was able to get this down to $680. I did this in part by refusing 8 arestin antibiotics which I'm sure I needed, how the rest of the amount was calculated is still a mystery so I went ahead with the deep cleaning and was very surprised that it took less then 1 hour, as in the past a deep cleaning elsewhere took over 2 hours and cost about $500 Total and was very thorough. Needless to say that Aspen was not thorough at all, when I got home and checked my teeth in the mirror I could easily see some brown stains at the gum line. The only reason I went on with this cleaning is because I was having very bad gum pain due to 5 months of chemotherapy and I was desperate for relief. The dental hygienist was very cold and acted like she was doing it for free. Which isn't surprising as it fit in to the rest of experience I had with this place. It is the wrong color in the wrong shape now I have to go through all the pain again to get it fixed DO NOT USE THEM! 1st visit the female dentist repaired a chip in my front tooth by shaving it off and making it look like a triangle - WORSE then when I came in and in the wrong color. 2nd visit they gave me dentures which I am unhappy with. He said my periodontal problem was not that bad and I do not need "deep cleaning!" The Hygienist is very sweet and does an excellent job on my teeth. I have asked for xrays to be sent to the new dentist that I changed to and they didnt do it because they said they didnt have their email address, really,? you made me wait until I had to call again and you couldnt call them to ask for the email address? The manager at the time told the office person they didnt need the office info because they had it. Then today I went in to get other xrays to be sent and the manager was so rude to me.. he told me I had to leave and call them. I had called previously and left a message the week before and several calls later they only would let me leave a message. PATIENTS BEWARE!!! HORRIBLE PRACTICE- POOR MANAGEMENT- NASTY DENTAL HYGIENIST- WOULDN'T LET ME SIT WITH MY ELDERLY FATHER-WHO HAS DEMENTIA- for a 10 minute visit. Dr and nurses are more concerned with their convenience than patient's well being and patients satisfaction!!! YOU COULDN'T PAY ME TO GO BACK!! The funny thing is their receipts say "we know you have a choice who you chose for your dental care... Do yourself a favor and chose a better practice!!! I would give negative stars for this horrible business. This being a dental clinic- I wouldnt normally say "business" but this place is not run as a "practice" Their priority is to get paid- the patient care and communication with patients/family is horrible. My 86 year old father had an infection in a tooth- they told us that he needed $15,000 worth of dental work. We did agree to the necessary teeth extractions and deep cleaning and bone graft for a future implant. (Approx $2000) Here are my issues: During the visit for the extractions they worked on him for over 2 hours- deep scaling of his gums and then one extraction- after 2 hours I asked the nurse "is he ok" she reassured me "oh he's fine." Then he comes out to the waiting room to go to the bathroom and he was unsteady and white as a ghost. When I asked him if he was ok. He said "no I don't think so." At that point I insisted that he be re-scheduled for another day to do the second extraction. After the second extraction they took payment, and scheduled him for a f/u appt. for 2 months later. The dentist very clearly told me there is a membrane in his mouth, don't worry it will just stay there. No one said "he needs an appointment for the suture removal" About 3 weeks later I get a frantic call from the office- "your father must come right away to have the sutures removed!" So I changed my work schedule and brought him in the next day. When we left- no one said he has to come back. I assume the next time he should be there was the 2 month follow up. 3 weeks after that I get another frantic phone call "your father has to come in for the membrane removal right away!!!" Again no one ever told me this appointment was necessary or scheduled one. I brought him in this morning for them to remove the membrane. I told the hygienist I wanted to stay in the office while the dentist worked on him the hygienist was very nasty, and told me that I couldn't stay with him- I insisted that I wanted to be with him that it should be a short visit and that I really wanted to stay. She came back a couple minutes later and said "are you ready to leave so we can get on with the visit" again her attitude was nasty and her tone condescending. PATIENTS BEWARE- THIS OFFICE DOES NOT MAKE A PATIENTS NEEDS OR A PATIENTS SATISFACTION A PRIORITY! read more

I used this place for a few years despite having to return there on multiple occasions to have fillings or crowns re-done. After the last crown fell out for the third time, I'm done. They even tried to tell me the crown was not done by them which is complete nonsense. Even their appointment reminders have become a nuisance , almost threatening. BE CAREFUL, they quote one cost then charge 3-5 times more. They claim your insurance will pay a certain amount but then bill you for a lot more than your insurance pays. For example, a cleaning, you get charged 4 times because you have 4 quadrants in your mouth. And they try to tack on additional work that may or may not have been performed. I would give a minus 10 if I could. They also will pull the hygienist out of the room in the middle of your cleaning to help a new patient, leaving you sit there. Over a month ago I wrote a great review about the service I received on my first visit (see below) and I gave the experience 5 stars. Today unfortunately was a bad experience. Dr. Sabterio was nice and professional as always however the experience from the male receptionist was poor. After my fitting I was asked to sit and wait until the gentleman (I think his name was Austin) could assist me. The dental hygienist that assisted Dr. Sabterio handed my folder to Austin and he proceeded to talk about my case in an unprofessional manner at the front desk where others could hear. When he finally asked me to sit with him, I asked him if he had questions about my case because I heard him discussing it with another staff member. He said he was confused as to why I was getting flexilytes and cast partials ( which was part of the conversation he was having at the front desk) I explained to him that I wanted a natural look at the top of my mouth and he shrugged his shoulders and said "ok I guess". I asked him if there was an issue and he said that one has to be sent to the corporate office and the other had to be sent somewhere else. He had a really bad attitude when helping me but what bothered me the most was the fact that he was discussing a client (me) at the front desk. I left, went to my car but came back in and asked for Dr. Sabterio. Austin refused to get Dr. Sabterio and continued to ask what I needed so I used it as a training opportunity for him. I told him that I was concerned with his actions and that he displayed poor and unprofessional behavior. I supervise and train my office staff and I told him that my team would never discuss clients at the front. I told him to use this experience as a learning opportunity and do better next time. His actions honestly made me uncomfortable. It did not sit well with me as I am use to the polite and welcoming crew that I commended in my last post. I was told I need 625$ worth of work on my gums because they found 25 # 5 areas in my mouth,. #5 is very bad. However my previous dentist 6 months ago found no #5s and only 4 #4s. This did not sound right so i refused the service and went to see another dentist. Guess what 10 days later i had no #5s in my mouth.
