Update #2 to my original review. Requested a refund on my dentures over a month ago. Aspen Dental office on Big Hallow Drive in Peoria, IL did NOT submit any kind of paperwork to my insurance company or issued a refund. I made sure to follow their refund protocol exactly as stated. I decided to file a formal complaint with the BBB and requested formal documentation on the submitting of a refund to my insurance company. I have documented all contact with this office and have a paper trail. I will look into the next steps to get this resolved. I'm a middle school teacher and I will have to teach without teeth because of them! read more

Had a set of dentures made. Was tricked into paying for them in advance. Upon delivery I found them to be very poorly made. They weren't made properly to fit my gums. Instead of being concave to fit my gums they were flat. They reminded me of something a child would have made out of clay. I refused to accept them and demanded a refund. I was told there were no refunds. I am thoroughly disgusted with Aspen Dental. I'm out $2500 and still have no teeth. read more

First person was wonderful doing my xrays, she was very sweet and patient . When hygenist and her assistant came in to do the charting they kept talking about a missing tooth, I HAVE NEVER HAD A TOOTH PULLED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! When I argued this, they said "some people are born without that particular wisdom tooth, I HAVE ALL FOUR in my mouth. Since I insisted, they looked in my mouth again, then at the xrays on the screen and discovered they were looking at the wrong persons xrays, then I WAS DOUBLE CHARGED AT CHECKOUT. I was refunded but how many people have been getting double charged and not paying attention? I am very leary to go back for my cleanings now! I dont have hardly any confidence in their abilities and professionalism read more

Steer clear of this place I read some of these reviews and told myself that no place can be that bad. I should have listened. Biggest problem with Aspen, they don't listen to their patients at all. X-rays and a scan, meet and greet with the dentist and then, a treatment plan that doesn't even touch the original issue that needed to be addressed. No cleaning, no compassion for the ongoing pain and swelling of having been blessed with a lousy set of teeth, just a plan to keep me coming back. Customer service? What a joke! Been through their customer service department to no avail. Even tried to contact the district management team, only to be hung up on. After all of this, they have tied my insurance up to where, if I needed to find a new, component provider, it will be all out of pocket because they topped out my plan for the year without as much as a cleaning. read more

If u need a payment plan that most don't accept, then u have no choice, go here. But if u can help it, DO NOT BOTHER! Dentist, and I can only assume he was the dentist as he did not introduce himself, was curt, unprofessional, did not explain ANY part of the process, and copped a quick attitude once I asked a question. The billing issues I have had are ridiculous. I made a payment in office for $36 and was told my account was at $0. A month later I got another bill for $88.80 because they had performed xrays that were too soon for my insurance to cover. Since they were the only dentist I had been to, it was very disappointing that they did not tell me upfront. They also performed services that my insurance didn't cover. Now I have 1 day to pay the notice or they are sending me to collections. Just be cautious coming here if you are on a budget like me. read more

I had 22 teeth removed for dentures. I'd call that major surgery. I asked before the extractions about pain medication afterwards. The dentist said they don't prescribe any. Well shame on him. I've gone through hell for 4 days now. The pain is a level 9 continuously. To withhold medication because you may get hooked on it is crazy. You only need it for 3 or 4 days. If you are having this procedure done and the dentist won't prescribe a good pain medicine, run out of there. Find another dentist. I wouldn't recommend this office for anything. Now the immediate dentures. What a joke. They are trash. The was no preperation work done on them to fill voids, file down sharp spots and fix high spots. The place should make sure these dentures are as comfortable as possible. I have worked on mine for 3 hours so for and they are starting to feel and fit better. Do you think an office like this would work on my dentures for that long to make them fit correctly. I will not allow this office to make my permanent dentures. Don't go here!! They take excessive number of xrays to sucker you in do to thousands of dollars worth of extra dental work that you may not actually need. They told me that my tooth broke because I needed periodontal work done, but actually part of a very old filling fell out. They wanted to charge me $3300. Had called (on a Thursday) to try to get an emergency appointment on the Monday that I didn't have school because I'm a teacher, and on Saturday, 2 days later, got a call saying that the dentist won't be in the office on the Monday that I already had an appointment scheduled for. I have had a lot of bad dentists in the past. The perks of being on public aid throughout your childhood. So I have always had this massive fear of going to the dentist, and because of that my teeth have suffered. Coming here, I was wary. But the staff from the moment I walked in, to the day I got my teeth pulled, were absolutely amazing. Courteous and friendly, informative, and fairly attentive. I needed 3 wisdom teeth and two busted ones removed, and they helped me figure out cost options (to which we settled on the Care Credit with NO interest for 18 months). Maria, who helped us with the cost options even stayed 30 minutes after close to help us find a reasonable payment plan. And it worked! She was EXTREMELY friendly. Today I had the teeth taken out. They showed the utmost care for my well being during the process, helped me relax, and explained everything about the after care. Dr. Thevenin was pleasant, warm, welcoming, and funny. 100% WOULD recommend seeing him. The Dental Assistant Shanice was wonderful. She greeted us every time she saw us even if she wasn't directly helping us at the time. Her calm and up beat demeanor was probably what helped me stay calm during the procedures. Thank you Shanice! I didn't get the names of some of the other employees, but everyone else I interacted with was friendly and quick. Thank you Aspen Dental, I appreciate you. read more

If I could give less than 1 star I would. Made appointments for both my 19 year old daughter and I through the national 800 number. They confirmed I would be 19.99 and she would be 231.00 (because she was 19 and not 21, the coupon only covers 21+) for x-rays and cleanings. She paid her 231, got x-rays and a treatment plan, no cleaning??? It's because the cleaning was listed on the treatment plan. That is called 'bait and switch' and it's highly illegal. Nick, the manager is not customer friendly, not to be surprised, neither are any of their policies (you get a computer print out of your x-rays, or a digital copy 10+ days after you request them. You don't have to wait forever to get in which is nice, but, they don't do what they say they'll do, which is a very bad thing. Go at your own risk of losing money and bring frustrated. read more

Fraudulent organization, scamming people! I had an emergency tooth problem and they wouldn't even let me speak to a dentist, they had the finance manager call me. How is the finance manager supposed to assist my dental needs? They are clearly just concerned about money. Everyone is wonderful from start to finish. The receptionist is so nice and inviting and the staff in the back is warm and professional. The assistant who treated me (Pan's ) was friendly and gentle. Big shot out to Marie! She was wonderful and sweet and helped so much! Dr.Marc Thevenin Jr so down to earth and he takes his time with his patients. I had a major procedure done and I feel great. I scheduled my girls for a cleaning on a day they had no school so they wouldn't miss any school. We showed up on time and the receptionist said the doctor would not be in until 2 hours later. The receptionist said they had been calling patients that morning to inform them and reschedule their appointments. I did not receive a phone call and did not reschedule their appointments. I can not recommend this office in any way. If you need adjustments, more than once you wait longer to get in and it is always a good 45 minutes to an hour wait in the waiting room. I need one little adjustment and was told I would have to wait two weeks. Every time I have been in the area for adjustment it is someone new, so you start all over explaining the problem. Aspen Dental in Peoria IL is absolutely horrible. My daughter had 2 root canals done. Both ended up infected. Dentist that did them is no longer working there. She called to make an appt to see someone. She told them she had an infection. They told her they couldn't get her in for a week. Yet they will do same day appts for new patients. That is just wrong! Finally gets in, is told she needs a special procedure done, and since they messed up, they will send her to another Aspen Dental to get it fixed. They can't find one who will do the procedure she needs. So they tell her she needs to see an endodontist. They told us they will pay for the procedure but she will have to go to the place they recommend. Takes 2 weeks to get an appt there. In the meantime she is on antibiotics for the infection. I question this. I'm pretty sure an infection in her mouth is not good. They tell me there is nothing else they can do for her. So after messing around with this infection for over a month she finally goes to see the endodontist. She has to have a special surgery since the infection is now spreading to the bones in her mouth. But now Aspen Dental is saying they won't pay for it. Now they are only going to reimburse us for the 2 root canals they did wrong! Seriously? We have messed around with this for over a month, very relucantly, because we had to do it your way. Now my daughter has a serious infection. You put her life in jeopardy. And every time we have called for the last month to talk to the office manager we get put off. It's come to the point that a lawyer will have to get involved. Along with the dental board and the department of health. Serious disregard for a patients health and well-being. We will be telling everyone we know about this situation. bad experience. first Xray. the intern and the lady whos training her were NOT Gentle AT ALL.,gosh.. my entire mouth hurts after the freaking xray... The Dr.. um idk if he's really a dr. he told me i have an infection and there is nothing he can do. So they send me out the door. Then I ask them for amoxicillin and they are like " um , actually what will work is pain killer..." i call my dentist back in ny... and taking a trip back there to fix my pain. Horrible place to go. They have messed up my partials over and over and over, now they say I have to pay to have them remade. Its not my fault they have messed it up over and over, why should I pay more than I already have, I should be getting a refund for wasting such a but load of my time and money. This has been the worse experience in dental work. I went in for a chipped tooth and 6 months later they repaired it. Sort of. My x-rays the tech was not very gentle and impatient. They insisted that I get a cleaning before getting my tooth fixed. After 4 months of them and myself having to change appointments I finally got my tooth repaired. They used way too much Novocain. It took 4 hours for it to wear off. When I got home I had some of the filling come off and sharp edges on it. I will be seeking a different provider. read more

My first visit, which will also be my last, was not pleasant. I needed a tooth repaired. They refused to repair my tooth without me undergoing extra and expensive procedures. Even after deciding to accept their services to avoid the hassle of visiting another dentist, they refused to offer payment methods so I wouldn't have to pay a huge portion of the high fee at one time. read more
