Would give 0 stars if possible. Super unprofessional and unorganized. Do not recommend anyone give these doctors and staff any business. Better if they would close down and based on other reviews, they're not improving. They cancelled an appointment for my mom for a basic dental cleaning last year because the office decided to close for Thanksgiving earlier. This is not something you decide last minute. If you are a professional healthcare service so you already know when your office is open and closed that close to the holidays and you know that's when most people are getting their appointments in to meet all end of the year insurance benefits etc... so clearly you are NOT a professional healthcare service.... Since they cancelled she had to schedule it this year. She scheduled it for 5pm and gets a call this morning between 9-10am asking if she can come in at 11 or 2pm. The whole reason this time was chosen is because people have jobs and need to work and plan to come after work. They make special arrangements and take time off to make things like this work, especially after a holiday. My mom kindly said no, the original time works best. Then at 4pm for a 5pm appointment they call and cancel the whole appointment. The signs were all there when they called to change but then said nothing then, and then last minute call to make it seem like an "emergency". No one is niece to believe that when you called this morning. That means your staff and doctors are lazy and wanted to get home earlier because your schedule is probably not full and you want to get home early. That is NOT our problem as patients. This speaks to how lazy and unprofessional this location and probably the entire network of Aspen is. Who is going to pay for the time off and special arrangements that were needed to make this appointment? If patients get a cancellation fee last minute doctors should too. My mom mentioned this is the 2nd time they cancelled and the audacity of the person on phone is to say sorry I'm just the front desk worker?! That's is your JOB. Making note of previous cancellation and providing better customer service and making sure your office knows this is unacceptable. If you can't do anything you have to tell that to the working staff then. Just saying you're the front desk and showing no compassion is disrespectful. Apparently they are a huge scam as well because she told me they recommended coming in for a cleaning every 3 months, even though she has no issues or anything being monitored. That's a complete scam and insurance covers them every 6 months for a reason. You don't need that many in a year. Luckily my mom did not decide to go by their "reco" and waste money. I am making sure no one in my family EVER makes an appointment here again and I will be sure to tell anyone I know to be aware of Aspen. read more

I went to Aspen Dental in Mount Prospect to get a replacement for my lower partial because I lost the one I had. The Indian lady from India dentist there, wanted to extract all my teeth and give me a full set of dentures, which I did not need. Long story short, I eventually got a full denture upper and partial lower. The Uppers didn't fit at all, they just moved around, and the lowers hurt like heck. I was much better off before I went there. I definitely would not recommend going there. read more

Getting dentures at Aspen turned out to be like a nightmare to me. I was seeing red flags right from the beginning and I regret not backing out at the very start of the process. The technician that worked with me seemed to be a trainee with no supervision. It took her a couple of tries on processing my x-ray and it seems like she didn't know what she was doing when it came to taking an impression for my lower denture. She made multiple attempts before the lab technician finally accepted a mold that he could use to create a cast. End result..after three months, the new denture routinely makes it very painful for me to eat food. This is after many adjustments performed by Aspen. I have given up on them and will write it off as a bad experience and get a new lower denture from a different provider. read more

I went in to just get a tiny chip in the tooth bonded before I knew it I am in having X-rays done after all of that here comes the the person to look who gives cleanings didn't ask for that then I waited over one hour before the dentist came in then started telling me I have two teeth that need a root canal mind you I have another dentist that I see that said my teeth were good the proceeded to tell me me see where the gray is shaded in xray I think that's what took an hour they were shading two teeth to scam me never fixed my little chip then they wanted me to wait to talk to the next scammer how much everything would be I told them I only want the chip fixed with bonding they are scamming people telling them that they need this that done when their teeth are perfectly fine stay away from this place they will ruin your good teeth for money all about money and ripping people off when the Indian dentist came out I knew right away she would be a scammer this is what these people do to American s stay away from this place Warning read more

Complain overcharge Aspen Dental I went to Aspen Dental in Mount Prospect IL on April 29, 2024, because my crown fell. I called and reported to the receptionist that I did not have insurance. She told me that the total for the treatment it was going to be $151.00. I went to the appointment and the technician did the x-ray and the biting images. (I only need the crown to be cemented). Then, the doctor walked to the room and aggressively explained to me that she would not cement the crown. She continued that I needed an implant. Not only that crown but my lower molar also. She did not cement the crown. She only put a temporary glue because she said that I needed to start the treatment right away. Before leaving the office, the office manager gave the treatment estimate, which was $20.000. I was in shock and I went to another dentist to have the crown taken care. On June 4, 2024, I received a bill of 96.72. The exam period was $66.00. The biting four Rdgraphic images were $85.00, a total of $151.00 which I paid in full on April 29. I got a patience balance Exam Periodic $66.00 and Rdgraphic image $30.72. I am supposed to pay $96.72. I called the office and talked to Graig Nichols. I explained to him that the charges were already paid on April 29. He said that that was my balance and I had to pay it otherwise the $96.72 was going to be reported to a debt collector. The next day I went to the office and talked directly to Craig Nichols. I showed him the bill and explained to him that the balance was already paid and still I did not have the treatment I needed that day. He started arguing that it was in the computer's files and I had to pay. "Anyway, every patient needs two X-rays at year because it is the law." I showed the bill but he ignored and did not read it. I RARELY leave reviews, but felt compelled to this time. I went to Aspen Dental for a basic cleaning (my usual dentist had to cancel a recent cleaning and I was desperate to get my teeth cleaned). After an unnecessary number of x-rays and an exam by the hygienist, I was told that I require a deep cleaning. I declined and said that for now, I would just like a basic cleaning and they wouldn't do it! What kind of logic is that?? Isn't a basic cleaning better than no cleaning? All of sudden they are demanding payment up front and an extremely rude new office manager Craig told me if I didn't pay up front which I have never done before they wouldn't see me. They do not inform you of the cost for regular dental cleaning before you walk in the door. The customer service is terrible. They were trying to charge me for service that I did not want. I only wanted what was covered by my insurance. They said they would not abide by that and that they would have to sever our relationship after being there for four years they don't care about the patient they are more worried about money. Went in for a general cleaning about 2 months ago. I have extensive dental work all in the back quads of my mouth. During the cleaning there was a painful sensation that I made them aware of. No problem is it was one of my sections where my bridge was so I don't understand why I felt anything. When I asked him about it he told me just to use some sensodyne for 2 weeks. It's been 2 months and Im still having sensitivity and a headache literally everyday for 2 months from something being touched in that same spot that's never had any issues prior to me getting this cleaning. read more

Had a crown pop off, right in the middle of my smile, I looked like a complete toothless wonder :) I drive over and Dr Tolla saw me right away, I had some questions about price, insurance and timing, everything was upfront and on the up and up! Super clean office, kind and knowledgeable dentil hygienist, polite front desk, needless to say I was impressed with the service. I have never worn my permanent denture once in almost a year - they kept changing dentists, who never even introduce them selves to you. The impression was bad and the gal who did it pulled it to the right so they fall out. The chemical taste of it is horrible - when he put it in my mouth I gagged so badly that I just ran out of there. Of course it was already paid for so I'm out $2,500 and no teeth. It was such a horrible experience I don't what any one to go thru what I went through. Don't go there - no give them your money. I waited years to get this done and now I wish I had waited longer. read more

I went in for a cleaning. My insurance covers them at 100% twice a year. Before they performed the cleaning, they said I would need to meet with an office manager/billing specialist. She showed me a billing statement for a "treatment plan" that included an electric toothbrush at over $150 that I never asked for. The dentist had already told me she could see I take care of my teeth and had no cavities requiring any attention. I've since read that ghost charging for electric toothbrushes patients didn't ask for, as well as other upcharges ,have been a regular concern about this national chain (read article attached below). I was presented with a total bill of nearly $500 AFTER insurance. Meaning I would have to pay them $500 out of my pocket if i wanted to receive their "treatment". I declined their "treatment. I was told the exam and X-rays (minus the cleaning I never received) would be $19. I'll keep you all posted if they later try to alter this. Updated because I received a phone call today (12/29/20) from Cara, the office manager, apologizing that I was not screened during my visit. She assured me that she briefed her staff about this protocol the importance of health screening all patients and assured me they screen staff multiple times a day. She stated this would not happen again. I really appreciated this excellent customer service, and I will continue to consider Aspen dental for mhm future needs. read more

My older dentures needed a realignment. I did have a medical condition called Ectodermal Dysplasia which effects the skin, hair, nails and teeth. So I needed dentures to eat, since I had no regular teeth. So I went to Aspen Dental in Mt. Prospect. I told them about needing a realignment, but they said my old dentures were in bad shape. So I decided on new ones since the price was right for $530 which is not bad. So during the procedure when they put in the mold, I asked my gums are swollen, would this effect the mold in any way? The dentist said, no they will be fine. Of course, I would think the dentist knew what they were doing? Right? So they did look fine in the mirror and signed off on them. But when they were ready, they did not look right. They were too high close to the gums. You could not see my teeth. They said there was nothing they can do about it and they would start over. They did offer me a discount of $399 which I refused. I was out of work at the time with no insurance. I think if it was the first time having dentures it would have been fine for most people. But if you need dentures due to a medical condition, I would go elsewhere. Lesson learned the hard way. read more

I don't know where to begin. I'll lay it out step by step. Made an appointment for removal of wisdom teeth for 17 year old in severe pain. When I got there I was told it was just a consultation. Wasn't told that on phone. Gave them my insurance card. They didn't know how to process my insurance which is bcbs ppo. I had to make the phone calls for them. Waited 30 minutes. Went in, got x-rays. Dentist came in and started to lay down all the work that needs to be done with a very short conversation about wisdom teeth. When I told the dentist that right now my priority is worrying about his wisdom teeth I still got a whole conversation about everything else. I told them I'll discuss all that when we get these out. Mind you, son was still in severe pain. They ignored my wishes. After one whole hour we get sent into a room. First they scheduled the visit for a whole month away. A whole month in pain. Recommend med was Tylenol which the kid was already popping away. Anyone with brains knows Tylenol is nothing on tooth pain. Since they were making us wait a month you would think they'd give him something to sleep at night. Nope. Now, the room...... wisdom teeth removal scheduled. Mind you again. All I wanted to worry about was his wisdom teeth at the appointment. I would take on all the things later. No matter what I said I still got what I didn't want and what I told them specifically I'll do that later. I'm here for wisdom teeth. Again, the room..... I absolutely felt as if I was buying a car. No explanation of my benefits. No trying to stretch it out and use it to the best of our benefit and my pocket. I have never been in that situation at a dentist before. Every dentist I've ever been to has done all they can to use all benefits available. Every dentist I've ever been to has explained step by step my insurance and what it is offering us in terms of cost. I then got in to what I would call a sales pitch. I felt as if I was being sold something instead of a health check. The price they gave me for all treatment was astronomical. I gave them 400.00 deposit and the rest would be paid at time of surgery. I lost my job during Covid and my husbands hours have been cut by 15 hours a week due to Covid. We are on a strict budget. But hey, no problem, I get my unemployment the day before surgery. Remember, I was told the rest was due on day of surgery. I looked over the papers and there was nothing that said otherwise. I get a call 3 days before surgery. Appointment confirmed. Get call back. They need the rest of money now. I asked why since there was nothing saying that. Asked if they can please wait until the day before because that's when I have it. They would not budge. So now, 5 weeks. Son in pain. Appointment cancelled!!! Wisdom teeth removal quote was 1,200. Other work 4,000. Immediately booked my son somewhere else. Quoted. 420.00 for wisdom teeth. 2,300 for rest of work. Wait only 5 days. They went through my benefits and figured out how we can stretch the other work through time to make the best of my insurance. None of this was offered at Aspen. Still waiting for my 400.00 that would have been a big help at his new appointment but I paid for it anyway. Never again will I deal with these people. Absolutely felt swindled. Felt like I was dealing with trained swindlers and salesman instead of a doctor. Finally my son is out of pain after 7 weeks. I'm floored at this experience. I'm angry my son went through that pain for so long with no care in the world from them. read more

Went in for a check up and cleaning. They pushed me to buy a $160 toothbrush which I had to fight to get off the bill. Found other work that was needed. Had to come back multiple times for one tooth here one tooth there. One time I was in the chair for over 3 hours when they told me an hour. Came in for a cap after my root canal and then I received a bill over $1000 in the mail. At no point did they tell me that it wasn't covered. My guess is they were told no and never fought back just assuming I would pay. They also overcharged me for my son and instead of giving me the refund were planning on keeping it for a credit until the next time. There is something very shady about this place. Don't trust them at all. They're in it for your money. Just an FYI. Went there 6 times in a 2 months span and still never got my cleaning. Horrendous.
