Went for a "checkup" which has always included a regular dental cleaning paid for by my insurance anywhere else. I Was informed well into the visit that I would only be getting a consult which resulted in them telling me I needed a special cleaning for gums paid up front which I could not afford. I wanted to schedule the regular cleaning that my insurance covers and I was told no. I wasted two hours and nothing was done but X rays and "consult". Everyone was nice and I really liked the dentist that I saw, but refusing to schedule a normal cleaning made the whole thing a waste of time for me. read more

Follow up on Oct 6th review: Even filing a complaint with Aspen Dental didn't get the courtesy of a response, other than the automated one that they received it. Thankfully, I found a dentist to get me in right away, and for $68 paid at the visit compared to Aspen wanting $108 over the phone when the appointment was made. I would never go here again. The only positive is they are all nice but their service is a scam give you a treatment plan and require upfront payment then when I could not take the pain they were putting me through and decided to cancel my plan it took over one year of me fighting with them and my insurance to get a refund. My first visit the dentist said a cavity in one of my front teeth needed to be fixed soon to save my tooth. Then when they started my plan they started with most expensive and painful appointments and never did fix my tooth which I will probably lose now. Horrible experience overall! read more

Upon arrival, I inquired about Medicaid acceptance due to my coverage, explaining that I couldn't find a provider who took it. Rather than answering directly, the receptionist asked if I had Medicaid, and when I confirmed, she abruptly informed me that the free exam and X-ray offer no longer applied--despite my willingness to pay cash--because I was "considered covered" by Medicaid, which offers no dental providers in the area. She dismissed me without even verifying my status, showing no empathy as I stood there crying in pain. The staff treated me like a second-class citizen, shaking their heads with disdain. Devastated and appalled by their snobbish attitude and lack of compassion, I left. Money was not the issue--I was prepared to pay--but their view of patients as mere transactions rather than people ensured I wouldn't give them a penny or trust them with my care. In stark contrast, Dentists of Lake Charles restored my faith in dental care. Arriving in tears and desperation after my Aspen experience, I was met with immediate kindness and understanding. The staff recognized my severe pain and distress from a needed tooth extraction and made room for me without hesitation--a refreshing departure from the dismissive treatment I'd faced elsewhere in Lake Charles. From the moment I walked in, I was treated with genuine care and respect, not as a paycheck to be cashed. The entire process, from arrival to the removal of my tooth, took about an hour, executed with remarkable efficiency and comfort. I am deeply grateful to Brittany, Dr. Dent, his assistant (whose name I regretfully forgot), and the compassionate team for their professionalism and empathy. The relief I felt post-procedure, paired with my appreciation for their outstanding service, is beyond words. Dentists of Lake Charles is a practice that truly prioritizes patient needs, and I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone seeking quality, compassionate dental care. By far the dental experience here has been so up and down. I am very aggravated with the office staff they are very rude, and seem like they don't really know what they're doing. When you come in it seems as if they are not happy and don't have a smile on their face. And when they do smile it doesn't feel genuine. I came here because of my insurance and I called one 800 Dentist which in the area of Lake Charles this was the only dentist that was willing to take Delta dental. When I walked in the office was very clean exceptionally clean that's one thing I do like about it. The office manager was very sweet as well when she told me the rundown for my one cavity and cancer screening. The lady who took my x-rays was very sweet as well. And the dentist she seemed very sweet and genuine. However, being that I have a cavity they put me on an appointment not until two weeks after May which really upsets me because my cavity could get worse in a matter of time. I came to them telling them I had issues with my crown there was mild pain, but no other tests where taken to see, the bite down test on a stick or etc. only X-rays. And of course most Dentist do not want to touch a crown that another dentist put on because it looked intact however I knew there was something wrong when I bit down and the pain at night. Fast forward Two weeks later I developed severe pain and problems with my crown, and I know my body. When I went in I had to really push for the dentist to understand that I needed to have pain medicine and a referral to the Endo which she did give me. However, out here in Lake Charles everything takes forever. So I would not be seen for a whole week. So I was then finally prescribed pain medicines and antibiotic. However the antibiotics was long enough to last me over but not the pain medicine. So, I had to go into the office after calling to demand my medicine that I could have to hold me over until I was seen by the specialist. But the office lady basically was telling me that the dentist was not going to prescribe me anything else and that I could take over-the-counter ibuprofen. I was furious, the problem with tooth pain is that you cannot do anything it is unbearable. You can't eat, sleep, and take care of kids. Taking the medicine every six hours with what I was prescribed the math was off so I would run out by the weekend. Luckily I feel the dentist really understood at the end, and put in another order. But it should've never got to the point where I got this upset and had to drive to the Dentist several times out of my way. I really feel the office manager should take a look at her office staff about being a little bit more nice to the patients and considerate of tooth pain and it is not something to play with. Your teeth are your whole body. And I still am upset because I would like to get my cavity filled before it gets worse. But I do not think they take this into consideration. I DO JOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE WHO EXPECTS GOOD CARE AFTER THEY GET YOUR MONEY. I wish I could give them zero stars. - tooth pulled today and he has requested something for pain and they refused to help. The treatment plan we were going to go with is 4,000$. So I asked the receptionist if they do Invisalign treatment and she said yes. I make an appointment for a cleaning and consultation since I am new to the area. Upon arrival, the receptionist asked for a credit card, I hand it to her she charges the card. I asked her what the charge was and she stated periodontal maintenance. I told her I wanted a simple cleaning and a consultation and to remove the charge. She takes my card to the machine and comes back saying she removed the charge. I received my (EOB) explanation of benefits and she has multiple charges which I did not agree to or request. I never saw a dentist and I had a single instrument (Jacquette U 15/30) cleaning. No ultrasonic (which I did not need). I did receive a fluoride veneer application which I did not request. Did I mention that the hygienist left me for 2 fifteen-minute intervals to check in new patients during this 10-minute total scaling which took an hour? When asked, she replied that working with new patients while cleaning another is standard practice for this Aspen office. (I guess sharing dental cleaning micro spray works for them.) I would have failed that class for cross-contamination. I never got my consult because the now finished hygienist told me that their Aspen office does not do maintenance on Invisalign. I texted my insurance info upfront, they can do this via text or email like most other facilities do. They made no exception for me and said I need to reschedule. I will never reschedule with them. Please BEWARE of this place. All the employees were very polite on the surface, but I left feeling like this place was nothing but an elaborate SCAM! I only went there because I got a new dental plan through my employer and Cigna said my regular dentist was out of network, but I figured what the heck, I'd at least go and get a teeth cleaning at this place (the only "in network" dentist in Calcasieu Parish). Staff was outwardly polite, but seemed overall very young and inexperienced. Lots of inappropriate comments about work colleagues in front of me, just generally very unprofessional. THEN, someone (supposedly a hygienist) spent a total of 2 minutes looking at my mouth and announced that I had some kind of vague problem with bones in my mouth receding, and would have to pay for a "series of special treatments" before they would be able to do the cleaning that my insurance would be paying for. THEN a dentist came in, and after about 30 seconds announced that I had a tiny crack in a back tooth and needed a crown. Long story short, after 90 minutes sitting around in this awful place, they finally ushered me in to a "financial counselor" to discuss how I was going to pay for the $2,500!!! special treatments and crown before they would do the teeth cleaning that was covered by my insurance. Of course these bogus "treatments" and unnecessary crown were not covered. Of course, I left and will definitely not return. This made me so angry for all the unwitting people that might get duped by this ploy, not to mention the time I wasted and the uselessness of my dental insurance I'd been paying for. I had, by the way, been to my regular dentist very recently, and I double-checked with them to see if there was ANY evidence of ANY need for anything relating to my dental care, and they assured me there was NOT. Don't trust them and don't give them any money without a second opinion! Warn your less savvy friends and family members! read more

I have had work done by Dr Gonzalez and Dr Abisola. Both of them are very knowledgeable and I am very happy with them. My cleanings have gone very well along with the young lady that does the x-rays. I have no complaints at all with there work. The billing department was easy to understand and as expected. I do have an issue with receiving my partial and then getting back in for an adjustment. It rubbed my gum, I called the next day to get an appointment but had to wait a month for an "adjustment" appointment. Not real happy about that. When I did get in, I expressed my disappointment in not getting in sooner and the dentist made a note to give to the front office. Not sure if it was addressed. But she adjusted my partial and all is great now. The back office staff is very caring and gentle. They are my go to dentist now. read more

A perfect example of why so many fear the dentist! I went for my first appointment and was told i needed a "deep cleaning", had around 8 cavities, and needed to either have a root canal or extract a tooth. I went in for pain for my tooth which they wouldnt even do anything about for weeks. I got the "deep cleaning" at my appointment which was just a normal cleaning just triple the price. I decided to get a second opinion by another dentist and I am extremely grateful I did!! Turns out I had 2 cavities not 8! The one tooth that I needed to either pull or have a root canal actually just needed a filling! If I wouldve stayed with Aspen I would be missing a tooth for no reason at all and have unnecessary dental work adding up to over $1,000! Billing is a roller coaster Nothing like what their commercial is on TV. I got one original price which was according to their billing clerk agreed to by Aspen , myself and my insurance . Then the bills started to come in with nothing matching ever. The last time I went in I paid off totally in full on what was hundreds more. Now today I get "second notice " for $83.00. The price and all services was in writing but it's not worth the ink it was written on. I didn't have a good experience with them. It took them weeks to verify my insurance. I had to keep calling back to follow up. They finally scheduled my 1st appointment. I took my time off. They sent me an email to cancel my appointment. I called to reschedule and took my time off again. They sent me another email to cancel my appointment. Called them back and finally came in for Cleaning and filling. Filled a small spot at the corner of my teeth. 2 days after my filling, it came right off. Came back and got it redone. A few weeks later, it came off again. I called the front desk to schedule another appointment to get it fix. She told me I need to put a crown over my teeth to fix that small corner, and I need to pay almost 500 for it. I asked her if I could come in to fill that 1 corner, and I will pay for it the 2nd time. She said NO and it's the only option I have. I explained my concerns, and she told me if I wanted to go somewhere else then BYE. After paying for that visit, I received another bill for it and still walk around with a teeth missing a corner.
