3 weeks ago I went to the Hazleton office & paid the $29.00 for people with no insurance. At check in I was told they don't have change & thankfully another patient asked if I needed change & was kind enough to me change. That same person that gave me change was in & out within minutes & stopped at the front desk on his way out & said I drove 1hr to get here because I was told my tooth would be extracted & the dentist said they can't do it today. I got my x-rays & exam. While there I heard nothing but people told they need a root canal. I knew what I was going to be told. The dentist came in & did some testing as to why I'm having pain by tapping (Which I had NO pain). They used super cold stuff that hurt on other teeth & the dentist said on the tooth hurting you with hot do you feel any pain? I said no. The dentist said your tooth is dead & you need a root canal. At checkout I was presented with a $3,336.00+ cost for the root canal, & crown. Root canals fail & cause infection. Any good, honest dentist & endodontist knows that a root canal only cleans the roots out & can NOT clean out the 3 million tiny pathways which harbor the bacteria & leads to a low grade infection in the entire body. Watch some honest dentists on YT. 3 weeks later my wife's filling cracked. We went back & at check in we were told we don't have change so we can apply the balance left to your account but we said we brought the correct amount. The receptionist was very surprise after her long wind speech (What business does NOT have change? And how is that when others pay with cash there is NO change? First RED FLAG). During are check in another female was aside us that had insurance & was told she needed to pay $46.00 for the fluoride paste that the insurance won't cover. The female asked is that necessary & was told I'll have to check. While my wife filled her questions out another lady checked in & she had insurance but the receptionist gave her a hard time about the insurance & the lady seemed to get it straightened out. My wife was called back & a hygienist came in followed by young thin blonde hair dentist that seemed not very nice. She looked at the x-rays & the 3D scan then said to my wife you need a root canal & a deep cleaning for periodontal disease (Something my wife disclosed on her new patient check in do to having a graph over 25 years ago) my wife spoke up & said I don't want a root canal as I was told in the past by an endodontist that bacteria still lives in the dead tooth in the millions of paths ways that they can't clean out & causes infection & with my wife's immune system she recommends extraction only. At this point the young dentist seemed to get attitude after my wife questioned more. Then young dentist said while then extraction is your only option but you have bone loss & the periodontal disease needs to be treated (Which we both understand) but what we can't understand & what was not answered is why after all the past x-rays from dentists we seen over the years for cleanings & general oral healthcare not one brought this to our attention? We asked how much & were told like I was on checkout you'll be told at check out. At checkout you feel like you're dealing with a car salesman. No words expect for the dentist said this & then shown a tablet with a whooping $3,500.00+ bill. Then the nonsense about finance is available if you can't afford it. It's not about not being able to afford it but like they're robbing you! My wife was then asked when would she like to make the appointment? We asked for a breakdown of the billing after hearing this absurd price at which point the look on the lady' face said "I'm getting disgusted with all these questions". Aspen Dental will get you in quick, take your cash not give change (What business does NOT have change & how is that when others pay with cash), make you feel like you're going to get good honest care & then slap you EVERYTIME with over $3K in fees & talk about financing like you're buying a car! Best part the dentist will NOT make you a partial until you get your teeth cleaned but will do the deep cleaning before you get your extraction! WTH? Are you serious? Deep cleaning equal bacteria & I really need this tooth extracted as it's down to the gum! So the bacteria isn't a big deal & I can still get my tooth extracted ASAP? LOL The letters after your name do NOT make you smarter or above me. You walk out $29.00 lighter in your wallet, WASTED time, miles, & gas feeling like you just got ripped off! Do NOT go to ANY Aspen Dental clinic. They are there to help you lighten your wallet ONLY! It's for the desperate & a civil or class action suit should be & hopefully will be about against Aspen Dental for their unethical business practices! I STRONGLY recommend reporting Aspen Dental to the BBB & Attorney General! read more

In my 60 yrs of living this is the worst experience I have ever had with a business. This is an unethical "for profit only" franchise dentist. They do not care about the patients..they are simply a number and dollar signs to them. My son's implant fell out..they gave me a supposed refund after months and months of battles..then they recharged me the whole procedure through billing looking for an insurance pay out that they believe belongs to them. Stay far far away from them..travel 6 hrs if you have to..to go somewhere else. 1 year later and I'm still in their tangled web of deceitful billing. read more

Cost clarity is unclear at best and negligent at worst. Once I made an appointment and provided my insurance information/medical history, I received texts and calls telling me I would need to reach out to provide further info on insurance. I called them and left voicemails for days to no answer. Once I got a call back, I was told they don't in fact need any further insurance info, that the appointment was good to go. When I arrived, the team was very nice and efficient. However, I almost fell over when I was presented with a potential bill for HUNDREDS of dollars for care I was advised was in-network and that all needed insurance information was provided to proceed. Surprise billing is illegal in Pennsylvania, but I guess they get around that by advising you that your insurance is accepted and separating the appointments by what is being billed. Nevertheless, this misrepresentation has to flirt with ethical boundaries. read more

Find another dentist. I went there to have four teeth extracted. The day of my appointment they called me to say the dentist decided not to come in because it wasn't worth her time to come in for only 4 teeth and no other appointments had been made for her that day. I ended up in Bethlehem getting my teeth extracted. I now needed false teeth and went back to Aspen for them. I went to all my fittings and each time on the way out I asked what I owed and was told, "nothing" because my insurance was covering it all. After wearing my teeth for a few months, it was time for my final fitting. They told me to leave my teeth there in the morning and by 4 pm they would be ready to be picked up. I was anxious for 4 pm to get them back in my mouth and was very self conscience all day. When I went back I was told I owed several hundred dollars that my insurance did not pay. I said OK, and would make payments. They said they could not release my teeth until it was paid. I was horrified and the discussion got heated. I told them I was going to call the police and report they were holding my teeth hostage. Someone came out from the back and said to let me have my teeth. They did. I am 80 years old and this was my worse dental experience. read more

Oh boy Aspen Dental sent me on a good ole adventure. First I called Aspen Dental Hazleton they said they're all booked up but I could go to Aspen Dental Saint Clair. I called there for a cleaning they said I'd have to come in for a check up because it's my first time going there. Went there got the check up and at checkout I asked if we could book my cleaning at Hazleton since it's closer to me. the lady said "yeah just give them a call after you leave here and they should be able to book you". I called Hazleton and they tell me I need to get my cleaning and they say that I need to come in for another check up because each location is different so a check up is required at each location. So I get another check up, I then book my cleaning for about 2 months after. The day of my cleaning (I took off work) I get a call and they said they need to reschedule me. They reschedule me for 2 months later. The day before that glorious day comes and they call again and say they need to reschedule me again so they reschedule me for a month later. Finally the day comes I'm about to get my cleaning and I arrive at good ole Aspen Dental Hazleton. I get checked in at the desk and wait in the waiting room for a perfectly reasonable 2 HOURS (clearly the best two hours of my life). They finally call me up and guess what they say when I get up to the counter.... "We need to reschedule your appointment". Don't go here they'll absolutely waste your time. read more

I'm terribly afraid of anything having to do with teeth, but I've been having problems recently. Everyone there was friendly and attentive, they were understanding that I was scared, but also made my dental health a first priority. I've seen several dentists in the area in the last 5 years, and this was the first time I was listened to about the discomfort I've been having. They took a more assertive approach to my issues and actually fixed things, rather than a "Remember to floss, here's your bill" attitude. Scheduling is simple, the wait time is basically zero, and the staff treats you like a person, not just another mouth. This is my dentist from now on. read more

I don't recommend Aspen to NOBODY... unless you want to wait 2 hours, to be told your getting X-rays, to then be asked to wait until 1pm as everybody was on lunch, and I didn't even get the alignment done THAT I SCHEDULED THE APPOINTMENT FOR. I've had nothing but problems with this place it's disgusting especially how much money I pay monthly for shitty services... Wish I had read other reviews. Nice dentist but. Waited an hour just for x-rays on my first scheduled appointment. My cleaning was delayed by two weeks with what they termed a network problem. Couldnt even call them for two weeks. This "network problem" lost my address and on a another occasion lost my insurance data. Bigger than a network problem. Waited an hour to have a tooth pulled at the end of the day. Waited an hour and a half on my next error of an appointment. Note left two other teeth needed to be pulled by dental surgeon. Scheduled me back with same dentist. I bet I got billed for that useless visit. Sign on door says they are still having computer problems. Three months later. I wish I had not signed a contract and put money down. Oh my treatment plan changed and over a month later I am stilll waiting fot a refund. if i could give less than 1 star i would. they seemed great at first. i called to make sure that i could get my teeth fixed told them i needed a surgeon they said they had one on staff. i came in for xrays and a cleaning they somehow managed to tack on extra charges my insurance refused to cover and had me take out a loan to pay for these expenses out of pocket. then after the cleaning tell me that ill be contacted with in a week or two by the surgeon. never get a phone call. so i call them. apparently the surgeon wont work on my teeth for some bullshit reason. i have a whole ass broken tooth. its been getting infected off an on for 2 years now i just want it the heck out of my mouth. but apparently because i wasnt having enough work done for it to be worth the surgeons time. and they wont do any more for my mouth. i was very specific about the fact that if they couldnt fix my mouth i would find another dentist and they swore up and down it wouldnt be an issue until after they start charging me for absolute bullshit. i only had my insurance to fix my teeth for a few months and now they caused me to miss my window. since they wasted my time(2months of it) now my broken tooth wont get fixed while along with the other teeth in my mouth that are damaged. i dont get it. was their goal just to get an xray tooth cleaning and charge me for tooth paste and mouth wash acting like it was a free gesture and like they were helping. never should have trusted these people with my dental care! read more

Update: I reach out to management and I expressed my concerns to them and was told they would call me back. Two weeks later I called back asking for a follow-up since no one reached back out to me. Their solution was to provide a 25% discount off my next cleaning and completely dismissed the fact their staff informed me they would perform a cleaning that same day (when I had insurance) as well as the fact I lost an entire days wage due to this. Even though the regional manager admitted the calls were recorded, she conveniently didnt have the time to go back and review them. I was told by the regional manager to either accept the 25% off or go someplace else. Due to this significantly delay in response, the insurance from my previous job has lapsed and my new job does not offer dental. I 100% do not recommend wasting your time coming here. They have zero respect for their patients time. I wouldnt recommend them. The only positive for this place, the staff was friendly. I made an appointment online stating I needed a cleaning and filled out the paperwork. Dont waste your time doing that, staff will still call you for the information you submitted online. Annoying, but fine. I received 3 or 4 phone calls asking about my insurance. I gave them the information each time over the phone. I told them I just really wanted a cleaning; my normal dentist was backed up until the end of November. I was due for a cleaning at the end of February but that was cancelled due to COVID. I told each one of the representatives on the phone I just wanted a cleaning but they said they had to take xrays and see the dentist. Fine. Only one of them said that a cleaning might not happen the same day. I told her to cancel my appointment if they cant do the cleaning because I started a new job and cant afford to lose two days a pay just for a cleaning. I get there and it takes over an hour for the xrays, see the dentist, and the hygienist. However, the hygienist was double booked and didnt have time to clean my teeth. she just looked at them and told me they needed to be cleaned (which is exactly why I made the appointment...). I lost a whole days pay and pay for copays for services I didnt want but was told I needed to do if I wanted my teeth cleaned per their internal policy. SO unless you have a flexible job or have the luxury to afford missing two days of work for a simple cleaning, avoid this place. They will lie to get you in the door; they dont care about your time as long as they get their money. read more

This place was more of a hastle than anything! Was there for 3 hours and only got an x ray done with an exam. They didnt even clean my teeth! Then on top of it told me I needed all this work done including oral surgery... I have always taken care of my teeth always! I never even had a cavity! They scared me to the point I looked into financing through them in the event I decided to go through with it all. After consideration I decided not to go through with it because after a second opinion i found I didnt need to!! Come to find they billed the financing company for everything! Almost 2000 dollars. I called the company and Aspen. Aspen said they would take care of it. Here I am 2 months later still getting calls for the financing company looking for a payment. I refuse to pay for services not provided to me. On top of it now I'm late on my cleaning since they jerked me around for 3 hours and told me I would have to wait even longer if I wanted a cleaning that day. Never again!!!! They were supposed to be in my network only reason I was forced to go to them. Then on top of it billed my xray and exam through the financing company instead of billing me directly on what the insurance wouldnt cover. So now I have to pay interest! The missed payments due to me not paying for work I didnt get done, them "fixing it" then me finding out how much I actually owe decreased my credit by 20 points!! I'm furious! My 85 year old father went to the Hazleton location to have a tooth extracted. After waiting 2 hours, they pulled the tooth. When he arrived home, he discovered that the dentist pulled the wrong tooth. He called Melissa the office manager and she was more than happy to make him another appointment and charge him to extract the correct tooth. I reached out to their corporate office and was told an employee from patient care would call me. I didn't receive a call back, so I called them again and they referred me back to Melissa who again refused to correct their mistake free of charge. read more

My dad had the worst experience with Aspen Dental! I felt so bad for him. After he got all his teeth pulled and they gave him his " temporary " dentures, they were so awful he had sores all over his mouth, thru did not give him anything for the pain and he continually had to drive over 30 miles for over 10 appointments and he still had problems with them! Finally he received his " permanent " dentures and things weren't as bad. I think the whole idea of getting your dentures put in immediately sounds like a great idea but really IS NOT! Also, the office manager was not compassionate at all, in fact when he tried to call and discuss things after being billed wrong multiple times ( her fault ) all the while suffering in pain she actually hung the phone up on him. There is absolutely no communication between office workers there at all!!! The only good thing I can say is that he dealt with to dentists whom he said were very nice! All and all .. I wish I could rate them lower than " 1 star " for the hell they put him through! read more

Words cannot describe how I feel about Aspen Dental. The entire staff is absolutely wonderful! They are kind, caring, hard workers who do the very best they can for each and every client. I went to them for the first time today, and my anxieties went out the window. From the receptionist, to the hygienist, dentist and operations manager I got the help I needed and superb care. They are caring and patient, giving many options for services and payments. I am truly grateful; this is the best place to go for Dental care. I had a dental emergency on a Friday night. I left a message with Aspen. I waited until 9:30a on Saturday because I never got a call back. Left a message with emergency person who took my information. It took over an hour before I received a call back. They said to come in but expect to wait and it will cost $73. just to come in. I was there for 2 hours and they couldn't fix my front tooth that came out. They will make a single denture if I pay $900 upfront and wouldn't get it until Wednesday. So frustrated to have have to look like this for that long. Disappointed but I still have hope they will fix it once I see a periodontist. Ughh! I feel like crying when the dentist said implant and $5000!! read more
