I choose the Aspen Dental on Two Notch Road in Columbia South Carolina for a few reasons. They advertised early morning appointments, they offered Saturday appointments, and also accurate insurance estimates. I struck out; they do not open at 7:00, they are closed on Saturday, and they are dishonest. Quoted $192 for a mouth guard after insurance only to end up with a bill for an additional $384 because the insurance didn't cover. What ? Pure deception. Please go elsewhere! read more

Everything. They charged us for my wife's total care. Like everything to get her back in shape all cavities root canal crowns etc. 12k then 4 months later she all of a sudden needs two root canals and crowns. Getting a second opinion today. Since Aspen has been known to charge for work that is un needed or excessive. I will report what the dentist says at 9:30 this AM. Two cavities that needed a root canal and crown should have been seen on her previous 3 x rays and along her 12k treatment plan. They have been cleaning her teeth every 3 months and just right now they say hey 4k more we need to do this. UPDATE: Second and third opinion. She needs 2k of work done not 4k. A second crown was not needed Aspen would have grinded her tooth down and put a crown on it for no reason.Don't go here. They will rip you off. If you have no insurance or choice yeah go get whatever emergency fixed until you can get to a reputable DDS. Also with 360° Xrays they should have seen this during her initial plan. Shame you guys screwed my mom, step dad out of dentures, now my wife trying to sell un needed dental work. Out of fear of loosing teeth. At least that's the tactics you seem to use. I'm glad I never used you guys. We have good insurance. I will be sure to share with my military brothers and sisters about this disappointing establishment. My dentist is off this week. On the phone with two Aspen staff members, I was told they could treat my problem (broken filling) the next day. But when I arrived, they brought me back and were going to start me as if I were a new patient and do an exam and x-rays. Then they would have to schedule me a cleaning (which I don't need since I have a prior dentist). Then they would schedule a filling. They should have told me all of this on the phone and I would not have made the appt. Also, the dentist told the staff to tell me that he would not do a filling for me because I have a prior dentist. I was hesitant going here because of all the bad reviews. However, I was happy to discover everyone was very friendly. There was a small waiting period for my consultation, so don't expect to be in and out, but them time to set up and give people the quality time when seen. I was able to set up my appointment for the next day which helped prevent things from progressing worse. They took their time to explain things and answer all my questions for how to prevent future problems and tried to work with me on reducing cost because of my budgeting problems. They really seem to care about you and the work they do. I recommend them. read more

If you've got a tooth related medical emergency and you HAVE INSURANCE, this is the place you want to come to. They do recognize emergency and will handle them appropriately. Brittany at the front desk is very sweet, and staff was nice when I was in. However, I rent in for an exam, paid my full balance of over $700 (and had the receipt), and was sent to get a root canal. Afterwards, they told me I had to repay my balance to make an appointment, and me providing my receipt was not enough. It took 6 weeks for the office manager to look at my account and identify that they actually owed me $150. If you've had a root canal, you know this means that I was supposed to get my follow-up done within 2 weeks. They also then stated they only have permanent crown options which require me to get fitted, wait, and come back later. They did not offer to give me a same-day appointment, rush anything, etc. They also made no plan to actually give me the $150 they owe me. If you have a same-day solution type problem, this office may be fine. Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere. Also - KEP YOUR RECEIPTS / TAKE PICS and make sure payment is on file. read more

After my wife's first visit, I thought they were just expensive. But after a few days, she got this really bad tooth infection where they were digging around with a pick. All we went in for was a consultation. Her job blew up like a balloon for almost a week. Antibiotics are the only thing that helped and a ton of painkillers.. Estimates for the same work from other dentists have been priced at less than half of what Aspen dental wanted. We will never go back and will warn everyone to avoid that place like the plague. they might advertise services of the mouth, but they really only want your wallet. read more

I'm not able to rate this business due to the way in which I was treated. I called today to schedule an appointment, but in order to begin my dental treatments I was informed that I needed to pay my out of pocket $570 and accept and dign my dental treatment plan. I informed the person on the phone I worked downtown Columbia-sc wouldn't be able to make to the office my payment and sign my treatment plan until 4:50- 4:55 pm they informed me that was okay the would let the business office manager know and he would be waiting for me. I left work, and I arrived at the time I said which was 4:55. The one young lady behind the desk informed me that I needed to come back tomorrow they were closed in a rude, insulting, insulting, demeaning tone. I was trying to explain that I called and spoke with someone. The youn lady at the desk began talking over me an telling me I needed to mak an appointment to speak with the business manager and I felt like she was not lustening to me di I just requested my information: my dental treatment plan and was given xrays with the wrong name. I was agitated the young lady did not hear a thing I said to hear nor did she listen to me. I was annoyed and at this point because I was getting upset because I just spoke with so prior to leaving work. So another young lady interrupted spoke to me in a rude, insulting, demeaning, disrespectful tone to inform that I did not speak to anyone in their office it was the corporate office. Their is no record of your call . I responded to the young lady, "Please do not speak to me that way I am 3×3+10,because she was being rude. I was also irritated because now my dental care is going to be delayed. Dr. Sease then steps forward informs me in a rude, disrespectful, insulting, rude, deaming tone she doesn't like the way I am speaking to her assistant and because of this she told me that I need find another dentist. She stated in a threatening, intimidating loud tone with facial grimmace, nostrils flaring, pointing her finger at me leaning forward stated loudly, "I will call the police if you do not leave! " I was really, really scared it was Dr. Sease with her entire office staff present, which was very intimidating, threatening to me at that moment. I was speechless, could not move , and she (Dr. Sease) said , in loud, demeaning, intimidating, threatening, demeaning superior tone. " Why are you looking at me like that?" I can not believe this is the way you treat a customer that is trying to pay this pt this outrageous fee thst Aspen Dental Charges. Upon leaving, another young lady slams the door and locks it. I had to wait a very long time before seeing the dentist. When I finally saw the dentist, she was rushed and recommended a very expensive treatment plan. I didn't trust her judgment. The office manager here LIES. I asked if I was in network and he said yes, that he had already called and spoke to my insurance company and I was good to go. I was given a Good Faith Estimate and told that if I paid $1200 out of pocket, my insurance would pay the difference due of $600. (This was for x-rays and a deep cleaning) I paid the $1,200 and later received an additional bill for $2,600! When I called my insurance company they said I was not in network and no one ever called from Aspen. My insurance paid $300 towards the bill so at most I should have been billed $300, NOT $2,600! When I called to express my upset over this to the office manager he was rude and told me an estimate was just an estimate and I was still responsible for any additional billing. I asked him if he was familiar with the No Surprises Act, a federal law that went into effect on January 1, 2022 and he said no. I told him that I can dispute my bill with them since I received a Good Faith Estimate and the bill was more than $400 than the estimate. I guess he got frustrated with me and my questioning and he hung up on me. I have called corporate several times with no resolution as of yet. As for the quality of care, the hygienist seemed pretty unsympathetic when I was telling her how uncomfortable the procedure was, she basically just told me that a deep cleaning is going to be painful, no real concern for my comfort. The dentist did seem like one of the more considerate individuals at this location, as he was understanding of my discomfort and tried to help alleviate the pain, but that wasn't enough to salvage this disaster of a visit. First time as a customer and I was highly surprised how I watched one of the hygienist drop a dental object on the floor then pick it back up and proceed to put it back on the exam equipment. She then proceeds to call the next customer back into that same exam room for xrays. she never washed the object or cleansed the object before reusing it. When she was asked about the incident she denied it. "Talking about breaking a customers trust". I would not get any services done here. Not only are they very expensive but the culture of the business is questionable. I was sent a survey about my visit and no one reached back out to me about my concerns/issues.I would have to agree with some of the other reviews. I am not excited about this establishment and will be looking for another dentist. The front desk staff members are a bit ridiculous. They took forever to check my kids and I in. Once checked in, my daughter, my son, and then I were given X-rays and such and my daughter had her teeth cleaned. My son and I had to schedule another appointment. Why?!?! The dentist was really timid. He told me that both of my kids needed to have their wisdom teeth removed at the same time. May daughter is 11 and my son 15. Why both at the same time?!?! Plus, he told me I have a tooth that is discolored. I've never had issues with my teeth and get compliments on the brightness and the cleanliness of my teeth! They will not see us again. Worst dentist office I have been to. The office manager Melissa Miller is rude. They don't listen to your needs and concerns as a patient. As long as they're getting you to finance dental work they're all ears. If you call the corporate office because you are not satisfied with the service they will all of a sudden tell you they feel like you broke their trust so they don't want you as a patient. I have not had very good experiences with dentist but I can say Dr St was amazing. She numbed my mouth and pulled my tooth and I never even knew it so I can say I will be going back to Aspen Dental. Absolutely terrible. I will never return. I came for a new patient appointment and waited 30 minutes. They told me I had a cavity and needed extensive teeth cleaning to save my gums. I also needed a crown. I was SHOCKED. I've never had any problems with my teeth and I am often complimented on them by physicians. I can back two weeks later to have a temporary crown put in and impressions taken. It took them an hour to see me and then RUSHED because I was their last patient. This was on a Friday. That following Tuesday the temporary crown they had put in fell out. No food. No chewing. Just fell out. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. I was out of town so I made an appointment with another dentist. Who proceeded to tell me my teeth are perfect, and chain dentists will always tell you that you need the extreme teeth cleaning because it is so expensive. She was so nice and gave me a new temporary crown. I then show up to my appointment today back at aspen because I spent $450 on this crown, for them to tell me it wasn't delivered and it'll be another three weeks. THREE WEEKS! I am done with chain dentists as they only try to rip you off. My crown will be the last appointment I will make with this institution. NEVER. AGAIN. read more

. I will never return here. I had two teeth removed from the back of my mouth. Pulled in minutes. Dentist was very rough. As the novacaine wore off, I began to experience EXTREME pain. Called them to have a prescription called into my local pharmacy. Was told to take ibuprofen . After explaining that I had been taking ibuprofen, going back and forth and forth and back, I was FINALLY given a script for pain meds. 5 pills. Was told I had to wait 2 additional hour for those 5 pills to be approved. Long story short, I ended up in the ER within the next two days for dental pain. They gave me a shot that IMMEDIATELY relieved the pain that I had been experiencing for the past 2 days. No compassion. Some please point me in the direction of a non-chain family dentist. Just as the other reviews say below... TERRIBLE. The best thing Aspen had going for them is the nice, young lady that they were "training" to do the xrays. Went in for the FREE EXAM AND XRAYS, in which i advised at the setting of the appointment I would need a "medical clearance" for an upcoming surgery after my exam was completed/approved supposedly. Guess what? All was well w my teeth but was told i could not get a clearance until i HAD A DEEP CLEANING. Ha! Too funny... I told them i knew the FREE AD was a scam just to get me in to upsell me but since i had made sure and advised not one, not two but at least three different people that i was only there to receive the medical clearance i was seeking... this was a joke. I then told the dentist personally that i didnt appreciate them holding the clearance hostage until i spent $ with them, she finally agreed to just "write down her findings" and send them to my Dr. I would NOT RECOMMEND these people and or this facility in Columbia SC. I visited Aspen Dental for the first time in the Spring of 2016, after waiting years to get my teeth pulled, looking to get new dentures. My dentist was Dr. Bannenahaly, a tiny woman with the strength of a lion! I had originally planned to get all of my teeth pulled in preparation for dentures, but she explained the value of keeping healthy teeth on the bottom, and the convenience of having a bottom partial over a full plate. She has provided excellent care, doing her absolute best to make sure I was in as little pain possible, making sure I got a good fit with my temporary dentures and my final pair. She is exceptional! I have to speak about the wonderful technicians and office staff as well! On my first visit, I got a complete breakdown on the costs, what my insurance would cover, and what my part would be. Miss Crystal is one of my favorite people there! Another is my dental technician, also a Chrystal who did a great job helping me keep up with my dental health, and keeping my remaining teeth clean. My experience with the practice has been wonderful, in fact. now that I have my gorgeous adopted teeth, I'm going to miss seeing these fine people! read more
