So what do I suppose to do I have a broken tooth. I have a secondary insurance that she don't even know. She only see tricare. She stated we have to get paid and we are not doing work without payment. First off my INSURANCE COMPANY scheduled this appointment for me. I said how long does an authorization take. She said it takes 3 to 4 weeks to come back. It will take about 4 to 5 days to request it because she is busy. She said I've seen these things and it takes forever to come back. We will call you if it does. Oh my. I have enough money to pay for it my dang pocket. I called the insurance company and nothing was sent to them. I drive right up to my main doctor office and got a referral to another office down the street and they started the work right there. I've been a long time member for over a decade. I even received invisalign paid out of my pocket 5k..I will not come back to this office. As long as that biking lady is there wth her rude self. I've been to Dr. Vincent twice-- once for a consultation for an unusual spot on an x-ray (nothing…read moremajor) and once to have all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed. I should mention that I am a person that actually enjoys going to the dentist and I have no anxiety about it. Dr. Vincent and the rest of the staff were very professional and polite people. My wisdom teeth were pretty easy to access and I opted for local anesthesia + nitrous oxide instead of general anesthesia. The hygienist (I believe) who explained how the nitrous worked and what the procedure would be like was very helpful. The surgery went smoothly and was over in about an hour. I think he did a good job because I would consider my pain minimal and the healing process went very smoothly. They also let me take home my teeth after they were removed, and I was really happy about that! My only complaint is that they didn't give me as much information about the after-effects of having your teeth out as I would have liked. I didn't think to ask what was going to happen with my stitches and was concerned when one popped out one morning! (Google told me that was normal, so I didn't worry.) Also, they didn't really explain what I should be doing with the prescription mouthwash I had to get. Hopefully I'll never have to go back! But if I need to, I'd be happy to return to Dr. Vincent, but I know I'll need to ask more questions and not rely on the staff to volunteer a lot of information.

There were several things in my last visit that indicated that the quality of service is not good. I had an appointment for my regular cleaning and exam, and when I got in the chair I was told that I would only get an exam, no cleaning since that was what was on the schedule and they didn't have time to do extra cleanings. Then the x-ray machine didn't work, so for about 10 minutes she went around to other rooms trying to find one that worked. Once the bitewings were done, she did a panoramic xray. Then I waited for the dentist to do an exam (didn't have a cleaning). He was rushing around the hallways looking for something he needed, and finally came in flustered and quickly looked in my mouth. Then I went out and was told that even though my insurance was in-network, that it doesn't cover the panoramic x-ray that they just automatically did (I found out that insurance doesn't cover that over the age of 19, and I'm 46) and they needed payment for that, so I paid it. I asked for a statement, and it showed the amounts sent to insurance, and the amount for the panoramic paid in full. I was frustrated that I didn't even get a normal cleaning, and that they did things that insurance didn't cover without asking me first. Now a few weeks later, they sent me a bill for a bunch more money in addition to what I already paid. My insurance has paid them for the preventative exam and bitewing x-rays. They used to be very organized, professional, transparent about charges and what insurance covers, and the equipment worked, but not anymore.

I had 6 teeth pulled yesterday. Done in less than an hour. He gave me very clear instructions on what to do before and after surgery and a laminated page of instructions to make sure I would remember. Dr. Harvey is kind, funny and makes sure that you are comfortable. He personally called me after to check on me and answer any questions I may have. He has always been sedated for his regular dental work at our dentist's office in Lawrence, and does well there. We love our regular dentist, but he cannot remove impacted wisdom teeth, so we needed an oral surgeon. We went to 2 oral surgeons in Lawrence for consultations. Both told us to go to the hospital for the sedation and extractions. It seemed to me like they were more afraid of the word "autism" than anything. A friend recommended Oral Surgery of KS and Dr. Ferrell specifically. WOW. What a nice guy ~ professional and compassionate. He was amazing with my son. We were able to do the consultation with the doctor answering my son's questions on his level, then meet alone with the doctor. The actual oral surgery was done immediately following the consultation. So, there were no hours or days of anxiety between the consultation and the surgery. We went to the Topeka office. The office staff was friendly. The place was clean and comfortable. I highly recommend Dr. Farrell and this office. I wish we had found him first.
