I went to Aspen Dental, November 24, 2025 hoping to have a tooth filled or extracted. After x-rays, I waited more than 30 minutes for a dentist. I asked the dentist if the tooth could be filled, she said no, so I said pull it then. The dentist told me a dental hygienist would be in to look at my teeth. Long story short, the dental hygienist took to A lounge, to talk to an "office manager", who tried to get me to agree to get my teeth cleaned when I went there for a filling or an extraction. I received NEITHER. To add insult to injury, the " office manager" said since I was a new patient ( A LIE, I was there in 2022), I couldn't even get my tooth pulled. She tried to get me to sign a "contract" for work (A cleaning), I didn't come to the office for. I DECLINED the contract and told her to CANCEL IT. read more

Aspen Dental Beckley what to say......Exceptional horrible experience!!! As a retired hygienist from Atlanta and new to the area I thought this place would be ok for my husband needs. I can't stop shaking my head in discuss. His first appointment was standard (except they didn't let me go back which is weird in itself) but he had a couple teeth that had abscessed and he was in pain. Standard treatment for infected teeth is an antibiotic. He was not prescribed any. At checkout I asked for them and the doctor agreed and said she would call them in. Well surprise she did NOT. We live 1.5 hours away. THEY DO NOT ANSWER THEIR PHONE-VERY FRUSTRATING IT TOOK 3 DAYS TO GET AHOLD OF SOMEONE AFTER LEAVING SEVERAL MESSAGES for the antibiotic. We paid in full for that appointment and his next one and Jason who was filling in from Mississippi bragged about how good our insurance was. Appointment #2 After arriving we were told we owed another 450.00 after being told we were paid in full when we left last time specifically for this appointment. They are pretty good scammers. We knew he needed a "deep cleaning " scaling and root planning(cleaning) and some extractions. We went ahead and paid. Being a RDH and preforming this cleaning for over 30 years in 14 different offices and many conferences and school you can not do a deep cleaning without numbing the patient because of the deepness you scale down the tooth hence the name "deep cleaning". The procedure on a typical mouth is around 2 hours. His appointment was a deep cleaning first then his extractions. Within 25 minutes he was done with his deep cleaning, no numbing. There is NO way his deep cleaning was done. They polished his teeth that was it and charged us 1,150 just for the cleaning. After his extractions he was given an instruction sheet which an employee pointed to the emergency number if needed. His extractions were done on Friday right when they were closing. We felt comfortable since we had an emergency number if needed. Well we needed.......... No return call all weekend. Finally get through today asking about the emergency number and no call back. No one knew about the number. VERY RUDE STAFF! As a medical professional you have to treat your patients and make yourself available for them it's the law! Don't take on new patients if you can't treat the ones you have now!!!!!!!!!!! The big manager Lisa called me, waste of time. I knew more than her Dentally. She was so ugly to me and said" we can't be open 24 hours a day. Well you think?? Really is that all you got?. No you don't but you do have to provide a way for your patients to get dental help when the office is closed. So so sad unfortunately I'm not dropping this matter, I know too much. Scammers I have filed a complaint with the Dental Board of West Virginia,OshaThere were some things seen in the back,and HIPAA for discussing my husbands treatment with me without his approval! I called Aspen Dental today. Their website says they perform Emergency Services. I have a tooth that may need a filling and is causing significant pain. I made an appointment with ASPEN DENTAL. They said they could see me this week for xray and Dr consult but No Actual Treatment will be given. I will have to come back another day to get my tooth treated. I asked how soon can I do that? Front desk said it would be over a month. I asked what's the use of me coming in this week if you can't actually give me any treatment for over a month? Lady had no answer. My experience with aspen is awful They didn't fit my immediate dentures right the actual teeth are huge. I can barely drink with them in. I cannot fit a fork or spoon in between them to eat. They said " figure it out the best way you know how". They refuse to remake my immediate and informed me I'm not entitled to the refund bc I got the elite package. I had an appointment today and confirmed by email but when I walked in they said my appointment was canceled because I didn't "verbally confirm" i.e. I didn't answer their phone call yesterday. A couple of months back I got my permanent cap. It didn't last the day. I had to cancel my previous appointment because my car broke down. So I go in for a cleaning today because that what my appointment was for. It was supposed to be for 1:00. Well, they decide to go out to lunch at 1:00-2:00. So I had to wait. Only for them to tell me they had canceled my appointment. So now I'm out $30 in gas. I did manage to get an appointment for them to replace my cap. Let's hope it stays. But somehow, I doubt it. I'm reading other reviews and it makes sense to hear the negative experiences. A family member went in for a hygiene appointment and the Dentists bedside manner was unprofessional. Could have been more sensitive and compassionate about her situation. No one says their name when "greeting" patients. Tread lightly agreeing to a "treatment plan". Or perhaps get a second opinion. Very disappointing. And I see Aspen attempts to contact reviewers. Just take my feedback and attempt to make a change. That's all I ask. No wish to go back there or communicate with Aspen. read more

The only reason I gave them 1 star is because it wouldn't let give 0 stars. I mean when you have to put a sign on the check in desk telling patients not to talk mean to staff and if you think you can do a better job we are taking applications. That should tell you something!! From the misleading information * (said I would get 2 sets of dentures not true 1 of the sets were the temp pair) when I got my initial dentures I told her they did not fit right, she replied "yes they do just put some denture adhesive on them". Then they snapped in half they fixed them with a piece if metal. That lasted for a bit then they snapped in half again. So they did another impression and said they were giving me a new set, no they just fixed the cracked pair again. They are about to break in half again so I made an appointment (took 2 weeks to get in) and she refused to make new ones unless I pay for a new set (I have 7 year warranty with 4 years or so left) or I can go 3 weeks without teeth so she can send them off to and outside lab to be fixed. She had one of the girls tell me because I had natural bottom teeth that is why they snap because dentures and natural teeth don't go together . Even though I know at least one person who they did make a new set for sge refused to do mine and she couldn't even be bothered to talk to me herself. WORST PLACE EVER!! So I had a ledge on the front of my dentures where it didn't transition smoothly from gum to tooth went to see if they would fix it because it was sharp and cutting my lip. They kept saying this is how dentures were made. This was my 3rd set of dentures 2nd from aspen heard the owner say "comparing aspens that's hilarious" when I brought up she was being rude she tried to say she wasn't talking to me you're right you wasn't talking to me but about me where I could hear you. She was rude and if she would've heard me out she would've absolutely been able to fix the issue instead she snatched my already paid for dentures told me I was getting a refund. My son had an initial appointment with this office which was supposed to be an exam and X-rays. The hygienist looked at his teeth and did X-rays. The dentist came in and stated , without doing any kind of exam, we need to pull five teeth. That was it. There was no discussion from her about what to do after pulling the teeth. She was rude and insulting. They wanted to start right away. Just pull the teeth. What? Until asked, she then said "I guess you can get implants". The office just seemed to want to get him in and out as fast as possible. Pulling teeth is definitely faster than fixing them! We will get a second opinion. Next time, be polite! My wife scheduled a single filling. She agreed to a filing and did not agree to have any other work done. They agreed and scheduled an appt for the filling. When she came in for the appt, they began to X ray her entire mouth, not the tooth they agreed to fill. So she stopped them to inquire why because it seems they were making a mistake. The nurse said "Oh, OK I will be right back." The nurse returned and claimed that the Dr. would have to do a full exam, a full X-ray, full cleaning and full consultation but no filling and they would not give an estimate. So we asked if they could just do the work that we actually scheduled an appt for and they refused. My wife did not agree to let them touch her in any other way. So, they violated her. We got up to leave. I agreed to pay the rate for the visit (since they did at least look at her) but I did not agree to pay for the work we did not agree to. In fact, they violated her by touching her against her will. When I asked who was ultimately in charge that day (supervisor, etc.) they refused to tell me. These people are scam artists. read more

No stars from me. I was lied to. Did not honor my 7-year warranty. It came down to he said she said. They wanted to charge me for a reline that was covered by the warranty. I was told by the financial advisor that the only thing that wasn't covered was if I had a dog and that it got ahold of them, or if I lost them in the washing machine. They stopped being friendly after they got my money. I had 3 sets made. Still no teeth that I could wear. I have never said I was every satisfied. Again, that is where he said she said comes in to play. It is horrible the way you get treated with no results. Wish I had never gone to Aspen Dental at all. If I knew what I know no it would have never happened. Will not recommend you to anyone. If a lawsuit come suit comes against you, I will be the first in line. You can take that to the bank. Worst experience ever!!!!!!! They told me I needed a cap for a tooth that wasn't hurting but stupid me said ok go ahead. Have had nothing but PAIN since they put it in. I called today cause of severe pain. Told me to come in at 430 I arrived early like 310. A walk in patient came in and said she was in pain and they (someone in the back) told her to come on in. 435 comes and I'm still sitting. I said to the receptionist that's sad that they took a walk in over an appointment. She says you don't have to have X-rays and she did. No that wasn't the issue I still had to have X-rays. It was that I was not the same skin color as they were. Dr. Nichols came in and looked at the X-rays and says we will refer you to Dr. Winkler for a root canal. I'll send you a prescription of an antibiotic and motion to cvs. I drive 30 minutes to cvs and still isn't there. Finally at 700 pm my medicine was called in. Well let me start by saying I had my dental work done at the Aspen Dental Port St Lucie West in Florida that office is absolutely wonderful. Unfortunately when I had my last Bridges put in the bottom One cracked in half within the first week but I tried to call them back but due to the covid-19 the offices were closed and then I moved up to West Virginia will the closest Aspen to me was in Beckley West Virginia. I went there and explain the situation to the reception is she told me that that Aspen is a privately owned franchise and that I would have to pay for my bridge work to be done all over again told her that's not what they told me in Florida and she repeated what she said so I left and I called the corporate office explain to me on the phone and that they're not supposed to do that they told me that the regional manager's name was Melinda and she was going to get my complaint will a couple of days after that I got a call back from the Beckley Aspen stating that there was a misunderstanding that they would like me to come in so I can get the consultation so they could see what happened which I did as I was there they tried to tell me that I needed to get implants I told him I was not going to do it then the young male dentist told me that he did Bridge work for his mother like that and it cracked her real tooth and she had to get surgery so was best that I get implants again I told him no I spoke with the assistant manager after that Megan and she explained to me that I should get the dental implants and I told her I was not going to do that so we made the appointment for me to come back what's supposed to be on the 5th of August will the 4th of August they called me to tell me I had to wait for a specific dentist to come in dr. Nichols that I should be there on the 13th of August well they sent me a text confirming my appointment for 11:45 a.m. got there at 11. For the receptionist to tell me that I was supposed to be there at 10 for a hygiene cleaning explain to her I was not there for hygiene cleaning I was there to fix a broken bridge she checked the computer and said that I had to get the cleaning I explained to her all I need is my bridge fixed she went back to speak to a manager she came back and gave me the explanation that every four months is mandatory to get a cleaning I was never told that in the beginning he said plaque it's underneath the bridge well if you're removing the bridge what's the difference of plaque at Thunder at you putting in a new bridge but apparently that wasn't what they wanted to hear so she told me I had to speak with the manager. I proceeded to wait about another 25 minutes the assistant manager Megan called me back, and proceeded to tell me if I do not get the cleaning that the dentist will not fix my Bridge work at this point that was already upset, I explained to her that I was going to call corporate again and find out why this is a mandatory thing and I was going to make a review not only on their website but on Yelp and any other website I could put it on she told me that I could do what I had to do. I set the appointment to go in for the 19th 8:45 a.m. for hygiene cleaning ends at 10 a.m. 4 the repair of my bridge work well when I got home I called corporate they took my information said they were going to give it to the regional manager Melinda I spoke with Annette extension 201806 she was very nice and courteous I explained to her the situation she told me this was not Aspen protocol that I should get a call within 24 hours which I did not receive so I called them back on the 17th on a Monday twice I left a message with Miss Annette's voicemail she did not return my call will about 2:40 p.m. on the 18th I got a call from the Beckley office of Aspen Dental again I got to speak with the assistant manager Megan she told me the owner of the dental office dr. Nichols is refusing to see me to do any work that I would have to go back to Florida to the office that I got the work done to have it fixed. I know what the reason was is because I called to find out what was going on and she didn't like it Point Blank and that's exactly what it is ! I I called the corporate number again soon after that phone call again on the 18th but I did not call the first extension cuz I knew I would not get a response , I spoke with a gentleman named Ron his extension was 201329 he explained that every Aspen is just a franchise Aspen is just the name of the company that the dentist make the rules in each of their own Aspen's and they will refuse to see you if they do not want to do the work will Ron looked in the computer and said that Melinda left me a voicemail the day before I explain to him I did not receive a voicemail that I have visual voicemail so I can hear it and read it and I did not receive anything from her he told me that he was going to give her my message so she can call me back and of course I don't expect a phone call. i went in to get 6 fillings redone, they were previous and just needed re filled. all of them are fine but one in particular filling would not let up. gave me so much excruciating pain i've been in tears. (tooth didn't even hurt until she touched it." i call the front desk to ask if i can come in. no answer. i come in at 9:00 on the dot. and don't get seen until 9:45. granted i didn't have an appointment. but this was an emergency being in pain. they take an x-ray and say they can't find anything. "you MIGHT need a root canal" i mentioned i previously had covid the week before, "oh it might just be some congestion issues pushing down on ur sinuses and nerves" or "could be your wisdom teeth pushing down on your other teeth" we'll refer you to someone to get it checked out. asked multiple times for pain reliever and they gave me penicillin? that did nothing. i go to college in charlotte, nc. so i went to a dentist down here within 20 minutes told me i needed a root canal, an exposed nerve is what i had wrong. and aspen just sends me on my way without even looking ? would also like to point out the fact i paid out of pocket. absolutely no insurance. they were only worried about their $1700 that was owed to them :) read more

The service wasn't the bad experience that I had. I went to Aspen on March 19th because I was having some pain with a few teeth. They gave me Xrays and an examination and tell me I have a few cavities. They don't even tell me anything about the one that I pointed out. They told me that we could look at the best way to handle it and see what my insurance covers. I leave and give them the number to my insurance. They said they would check and get back to me. I called several times and days to see it they had figured anything out and they kept taking messages. Finally, I called them on the 26th and the staff at the front desk, tells me after a whole week that they couldn't verify my insurance. I called and verified my insurance within 10 minutes. I'm not sure that they checked with my insurance at all. I feel that it was unprofessional for them to wait a week and not even tell me till I called them. I wasted my time and have had to be in pain this whole time. I told the woman at the front desk that if they should've called me and let me know. I went to another dentist and not only did they find the problem immediately, but they fixed it the same day. read more
