I've been to many, many chiropractors in my life but NONE of them has been able to help me like Dr. Gurney. I've been going to him for over a decade now and I never want to go anywhere else. He is never pushy, never tries to "up-sell" anything, and is just a super nice guy on top of being super knowledgeable. I was in a car wreck in 2004 and ever since then I've been going on an as-needed basis to get adjusted (he never says you have to come back all the time either!) As I've visited Aspen Chiropractic over the years, Dr. Gurney has made a HUGE difference in my health and quality of life. On top of helping my neck, two particular times stick out: 1. I was literally scheduled for carpel tunnel surgery and went in to Dr. Gurney to get my neck adjusted. While talking to him I mentioned it and he offered to adjust my arms. He explained exactly what was causing the carpel tunnel problem, and it wasn't even my wrists (which is what my doctor was going to operate on). Within two visits he had completely cured my symptoms and given me some stretches to use to keep the problem from recurring. It's been over 6 years now, and I've never had the problems again!!! 2. I was experiencing vertigo and had been referred to neurologists, had MRI's and EEG's, and was looking at thousands of dollars of additional tests because doctors were stumped. Again I was in for my monthly neck/back adjustment and told Dr. Gurney my situation. He offered to try some "voodoo" on me if I was willing. I figured what the heck, since nothing else was working. He used body resistance readings to prescribe me some powerful oregano oil pills and said it was probably a parasite. I took the pills (way cheaper than the medicines I'd been given) and again my symptoms were totally cured within a week, never to return. I could keep going, but I just happened to see the bad reviews on Yelp and I knew I had to share my experience. Dr. Gurney is amazing and he's also the most affordable chiropractor in the valley (usually $40/visit). Ignore the haters and try Aspen Chiropractic! read more

I've been going to Dr Gurney for years! I have a lot of chronic pain and issues all over my body. I love that he uses resistant resting to see where I need to be adjusted and doesn't just adjust what doesn't need it like other chiros do. He's very knowledgeable and everyone I listen and follow his advice I see results! I don't live close and will travel to see him often. Dr. Gurney is a life saver. There have been several times over the years that we've needed him (our whole family has been to him at one time or another) and not only has he solved our pain and alignment problems gently and expertly, but he never urges you to come over and over again when it's not necessary; a problem with other chiropractors I've visited. As another reviewer mentioned, he almost puts himself out of a job except that his care has garnered a lot of loyalty from us. My son recently went to another chiropractor when Gurney wasn't available and was immediately bombarded with "necessary" x-rays and a long-term treatment plan for a supposed spinal defect. The bill that came and was submitted to insurance (thank goodness we're insured) for two visits was over $500.00! A typical patient portion for us with Aspen is $40.00 to $60.00 The worst I've ever been has been after a bad sledding accident where we went over a small ramp and landed right on my tailbone. I literally had to crawl part way back to my car and could hardly move. Dr. Gurney was able to realign my spine and ribs and use deep heat treatments and almost immediately I felt better and I think even as bad as that was, it was about only 4 treatments. Just recently I had a little spill on the tennis court and had a nagging pain in my shoulder and back. I put off going to the chiropractor for 4 weeks until it got to the point where I could no longer sleep on my side or even remove a t-shirt without help. Two visits and a months worth of problems were gone. I always wonder what would have happened if I'd gone to a GP...cortizone shots? Physical therapy for weeks? I just wished I'd gone in sooner. If you have a nagging pain that you just can't seem to get over; back pain, stuck ankle or a tricky finger, or worse you should consider chiropractic and especially Dr. Gurney...he's gentle, honest, and very knowledgeable and won't take you for a ride or keep working on you if you need to go to a doctor. Best chiropractor I've ever been too. Fixed my back issues & his treatments healed my foot problems (plantar fasciitis).

He was incredibly knowledgeable, and his muscular strength test was so neat to experience. I honestly thought it was so crazy how he could pinpoint exactly what was troubling me and how after some specific adjustments just how much better I feel. He is gentle and didn't cause me any pain at all. I highly suggest going to him! I have seen other poor reviews that mostly just involve the financial aspect of it (double billing etc...). I know it could happen, but I didn't have any of those issues. I got charged for exactly what happened, and only one price. I do have to say one thing though, even if there are some blunders on the secretary's part, Dr. Gurney is definitely skilled and should be highly recommended! read more

I saw the positive reviews online for this chiropractor and decided to see if they could help some lower back pain. Waste of money. They didn't help my back pain at all. To make it worse, they decided I hadn't paid enough after my one and only visit and sent a bill for $20 to the wrong address and made no additional effort to contact me so I was sent to collections two and half years after the actual visit over a $20 charge that was now $98 thanks to interest and collections fees. I was in a 4 month training program for my first marathon last Nov. 7 weeks into training I fell and severely rolled my ankle. What a disappointment to think I might not be able to run the marathon! Within 1 day of injury I went to Dr. Gurney. I saw him about 5 times and 2 weeks later I ran 14 miles and completed the marathon 7 weeks after that! We've used Dr. gurney for years. He's treated my family for everything from tweaked back from working in the garden to specific therapy for my scholarshipped athlete son (pitcher) who would have various problems like jammed fingers, elbow out of alignment, or back/shoulder pain. Dr. Gurney never tries to put you on an ongoing program. He basically works himself out of a job. He gets your body working until the next time you need him. I am a nutrition coach and specialize in step by step health. I always suggest Dr. Gurney to my clients. I think misalignment in our body has a greater affect on overall wellbeing than most of us realize. Dr. Gurney is kind, gentle and cares about you. Dr. Gurney was a joke. I was recommended to him, so thought I would be in capable hands, but his care was unacceptable. He was flustered while asking questions about where my pain was and then didn't take x-rays to check my spine to make informed decisions about treatment. He kept suggesting additional treatments that "insurance doesn't cover" and some of it was seriously ridiculous. He wanted to use a "muscular strength test" to determine what adjustments to make because regular adjustments "aren't as exact." I asked him to tell me what it involved before I paid for it and he said "It's hard to explain, I have to show you to really explain it, but it helps me be more exact and know where to move the bones." The test involved him pushing muscles before making adjustments - so I told him I didn't see how it was different than a standard adjustment should be, and said I wasn't interested. He continued to explain it more, I continued to say I don't think it does anything, so I'd rather he didn't. My neck was really tight when he tried to adjust it, so when it didn't crack on the first try, he proceeded to force it THREE MORE TIMES. It was very painful and never adjusted. After the sub-par "adjustments" of my neck and upper back, he tried to set me up for another appointment; so I asked if he was going to check the rest of back and joints and do a full examination. He was surprised and said, "Oh yes, let's go ahead do that now." When I left, the receptionist charged me for the muscle test I told him I didn't want, and twice for the exam and adjustment, saying they aren't the same....I told her I didn't want the muscle test and she said, next time I can make a note for him to not include it, but he did perform it this time. He is clearly incompetent and trying to squeeze every penny out of patients. I would not recommend him to anyone. read more
