Just picked up my car from Aspen and it looks like new. Though I had to drive around with a dented car for nearly two months before they could take it in, once it warms there, they communicated several times on the progress. They even fixed an old deep scratch that was close to the damaged section. They worked with my insurance company to keep within the estimate and even handled my loaner car. I had to have the front bumper cover of my car replaced and Aspen did not match the paint color to the color of my car. The owner Russ stated it is hard to match colors on bumper covers to the original color of the car and stated that they would not be making any changes to the color. I am highly disappointed as the color difference is obvious. The bumper tow hook cover was taken off of the damaged bumper cover and placed on the new bumper cover. This too was an obvious paint difference as the cover was the color that my car should be. Russ' solution to the problem was to paint the tow hook cover rather than realizing the entire bumper cover was painted incorrectly. So I had just came back from a flight. I'm leaving OHare, driving down 55 and realize my battery light is on. So I was kinda worried that my battery would die out as I'm driving and I had a 2 hour drive home...it's 4:30 on a Saturday and one of the only places I could find open was Aspen Auto right off the highway. So I walk in the office and tell the guy what's going on. Without hesitation he tells me to leave my car running and would check it out. He tested the battery and it was good actually, at 14 volts, and even had his other guy come out and look at the vehicle information with his monitor pad and fixed the problem. They were super helpful and I offered to pay them money but they said, no don't worry about it. Just super nice guys that saw that I was in trouble and were happy to help. Thank you guys. I found tape and the backing of decals in the bed slots and they washed it quickly because compound residue was noticeable. Also, he made a mess out of my father 05 Chevy Cobalt SS. A total disgrace. I have been going to and referring friends and family to Aspen auto body since 2003. Aspen has fixed countless cars for my family and friends. The work and results have been great. Fast forward to 2017. I was hit by a young lady who ran a red light. My 2012 Chrysler 200 suffered a damaged door, bumper, and fender. It also knocked out my air conditioner and outside temperature sensor. It took them over a month to fix it, when I got it back, the interrior was full of buffing compound and body filler dust, the windshield washer hose was not secured and left flopping around, when body bolts are turned and removed, it is customary that the body shop paint the bolts to make them look like they haven't been turned, this wasn't done, the hood hinges were replaced and NOT EVEN PAINTED! When I drove the car away, I heard a clunk, in the front end. Russ, the owner of the shop had the car looked at. My car needed motor mounts, he eluded to this possibly being pre existing! No! I had no issues with the car until the accident! I still have plenty of supplemental warranty left, I have no reason to be dishonest. I asked what needed to be done to the car's air conditioning system, he proceeded to say that "we charged it, it was low for a long time" again, NO! I do have one of the most comprehensive warranties on the car available! I asked Russ if the air conditioner went out due to the ambient temperature sensor getting crushed in the accident, he said " we only changed the ambient temperature sensor because you told us to." Uh, no! I really didn't appreciate him suggesting that these weren't accident related items. I take very good care of my cars. The cars that belonged to friends and family in which he did a good job are as follows....1997 Mercury Sable, 1998 Pontiac Sunfire GT, 2000 Plymouth Neon, 2002 Pontiac Grand Am, 1982 Lincoln Continental Mark VI. (This car needed a repaint). These jobs were Very good! Then the fall off happens. They did mediocre work to my buddy's 2008 Chevy Silverado. Left buffing compound on the truck and, stuffed masking tape in one of the pick up box holes. Did a repaint to my buddy's dad's 2005 Chevy Cobalt SS, and messed up on a spot, he did correct that, though. He did body work on my buddy's 1999 Ford F150 and the door he replaced and painted is rusting just 2 years later. Russ, I have been sending you customers for 14 years! I've been going to you for 14 years! I really expected better! I am appalled, and, at a loss for words. I will upload photos of the substandard work as well. You gain a reputation for quality and customer satisfaction, then you fall off! This is truly troubling. read more

I have patronizing Aspen Auto Body since 1991. Their 1st repair was great which kept me coming back when I needed body work. One particular repair which showed their exceptional work was when my 2007 Volvo was pounded by hail. The exterior of the car was like swiss cheese. When I received the car back, you could not find even a ripple in it. The work has lasted over 6 years without any indication that it had ever been worked on. Very honest and great service. I came in for a side mirror repair on my wife's BMW. I believe a full replacement through BMW would have cost around $750 so we wanted to seek alternatives. I just got my car fixed. The mechanic owner told me he replaced my front and back bumper. He was suppose to only change the front bumper and the hood. When I recived it he had chipped some paint by my head light and he explained in order to replace my back bumper he had to do some damage. I would have liked that he would have consulted with me about my opntions rather than doing them. I'm upset about my paint chipped and afraid my vehicle will rust. I was planning on replacing my back bumper anyways. When I told the mechanic that i wasn't happy about this he explained he believes I know what he really did he explained I would have paid almost 1,000 for the back bumper and I explained and now I would have to replace another part because of him. I stopped arguing with him because when I received my car I notice my head lights were not positioned correctly and the hood kept making loud noises. When I went back it was a headache because he explained he would have to keep the car for a full day. Without a vehicle it was frustrating with work. Etc. When I dropped off my vehicle I explained to the receptionist they need to do some fixes. The same mechanic that worked on my vehicle said what's going on?? I said I came to drop of my vehicle so you can fix it. He said whatever. This mechanic was rude and hard to work with. Will never come back here again. read more

I dropped my car off to get a passenger side sent fixed after being hit a few days earlier. With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching, 4 other auto bodies felt they could not do it in time. I was directed to Russ and Aspen from another auto body repair shop who were known to be reliable, honest and quick. I had a great experience. The car looked new again after the repair, and he did it in less time with less cost than he predicted. He even touched up another part of my car that had been keyed. My wife was hit by a drunk driver in a head-on collision. Her injuries were painful but, thank God, she survived. Not so her car, a 2014 Honda CRV, or so I thought. After a major collision some say it would have been better if the insurance company had totalled the car. But of course they didn't. So, with some reservations, I brought it to Aspen to take a look. Russ worked with our insurance adjuster, pointed things out that he had missed, and he came back with an adjusted estimate that Russ said he could make work. The repair was extensive and I was apprehensive that the car might never be the same. It took a while, mostly because of sensor issues that could only be addressed by a Honda dealer, but despite my concerns, Russ did not disappoint. I am truly amazed, the car not only looks as good as new, it drives the same and even has the same road "feel" as before the accident. Absolutely, 100%, perfectly restored. Unbelievable. So you can imagine how disappointed, shocked and upset we were, to not only hear how he treated our neighbor and friend, but to see the most god aweful work he did to her Mercury Sable. She took it into Russ to have a rust repair done. Instead of putting a nice piece of metal in replace of the bad, he put a gawdy piece of diamond plate. REALLY??!!?? Diamond plate? It looked TERRIBLE! We can't believed he would even think of doing that. It looked like a piece of metal he just had lying around. My husband called him and was like "what are you doing?" And really expressed our disappointment. Our friend stopped payment on her check. Good for her. I would have done the same. Then he told her she was mean. I would have been mean too if someone did that to my car. She took her car back to him to fix what he did. The SECOND time he did it right. It now looks beautiful! The type of job we've always known him to do. So, why couldn't he have done that the first time? Not a big enough job for him? Then perhaps he shouldn't take on small jobs. Russ, your quality of work should be your best of work no matter what size job it is? We've known you, and have come to you for 30 years. Never again. And never will we ever send anybody to you again, because when we give out your name, it then also becomes a reflection on our judgement as well. If I could give you less than one star I would.
