I mean, I tried on a $119 cocktail dress going for $5 the other day - flip, if it fit, that would've been the best deal in the galaxy! The problem with dress smart is the maze you have to get through. Like previous reviews have already pointed out, it's absolutely monstrous trying to find your way around. I always have to make a mental note as I walk out of the car park as to which shops are around me, and even then, I may not find them for quite some time. Having said that, there is much to like about this mall. It has a generally good feel to it, and a wonderful Esquires coffee shop with an outdoor sanctuary to enjoy a good long coffee after a busy morning's shopping. All my friends plead to go here when they are visiting Auckland, and it really is a good place to introduce them too. Go forth, but take a compass with you!

No need to wait for end of season sales to be able to spend up large! My last trip to Dressmart I was looking for work clothes and ended up buying three dresses, a blouse, and a singlet top for $60 - a feat that just wouldn't happen anywhere else. However, my real find of the trip was the chunky wedge sandals I found in Glassons. Down from $59.99, I ended up purchasing them for $10, and when I took them to the counter found out accessories were buy one get one free, so ended up walking away with a great black flower hairclip for free as well! Talk about a happy shopper! Though predominantly a clothing outlet, Dressmart also houses eateries, sports shops, shoe shops, health and beauty stores and book stores. The only thing that is missing is a jewellery store, but when you're saving so much money on everything else I guess paying full price for jewellery isn't so bad! Located near Auckland transport stations and with lots of customer parking and a free shuttle service operating Monday-Friday between the mall and Auckland CBD, despite being in Onehunga Dressmart is easily accessible.

I once got a $80 pajama set for $25. The prices here are incredible. The sleepwear is good quality and there is a huge range of product in store always. The staff are very helpful and sometimes the manager actually wears pajamas to work. I suppose she can get away with it because these pajamas often border on the line of what is called 'lounge wear' and she is promoting product in store. So when I finally decided to have a look in this shop I was more than pleased to see that there was an entire back wall dedicated to tights, leg wear, hosiery or what ever you want to call it. This is how cheap, $25 tights original retail then discounted to $12, then take 40% off that, amazing! There were others for around $4 and at these prices who cares if you only wear them once. This outlet stocks Bonds, Voodoo, Holeproof, Jockey, Berlei and the like for men, women and kids. If you had a small child it would be a good place to come for cheap kids clothes. And socks! you can never have too many socks, they get misplaced or one will go astray or the right colours are in the wash. At $3 a pair you could have a months supply and need not worry. Great store to pick up basics.

Levis don't always advertise their special deals on the Dress Smart website so if you're a jeans addict like I am popping in every once in a while is not a bad idea. The jeans are always cheap but often it is just crazy which is why you often have to push your way through the crowds to find anything here and be prepared to wait for the fitting rooms. I never bother trying them on so this isn't a problem for me thankfully. Last week I came in here while they were running a special that if you bought 2 or more pairs they are only $40 each. This is fantastic. Jeans that were $120 for $40, why not. You can never have too many, so many different colours and washes and the staff are really good at helping you find sizes. Sometimes there is a samples rack in store so you can pick up one offs at really good prices too.

These days it's in Dressmart, so I don't go here often, because I try and avoid Dressmart as much as I can. I've only gone into the Levis outlet a couple of times, and I've never bought anything. Any of the jeans that are cheap enough that they are a bargain are always in some weird as size, or some weird old style, and the other clothes that look sweet and are a sweet size aren't cheap enough to be worthy of a purchase. I don't like the people who work there either, they are not helpful or friendly. Go back out onto the main road, you might become good again.

I recently found out that all the Mercy Hospice shops are run by ex-retail managers and that explains a lot. They should probably try to remember though that they're not in Smith & Caughey now darlings - it's for CHARITY. I recently went to a Mercy Hospice fundraiser and watched people drop tens of thousands of dollars on the auction items so perhaps some of them are a little out of touch with their customers. Just saying. Anyway, the lovlies here greet you, they smile, and always have a bit of a chat about what you've bought. They are still of course pretty adept at spotting the good stuff and it costs a bit more but hey, it's still cheap. I've bought some gorgeous bargain vintage china from here as well as some cool clothes. Often I won't be planning to stop but something in the window or on the rack outside will catch my eye and before I know it, I've speed shopped my way into something old and beautiful and also had a good old yarn about its possible origins. Like I said, you'll pay a bit more for the really special china but that's ok, some things are worth paying a bit more for, especially when it's for CHARITY. I was pretty excited to hear about North Beach finally being a bit (A LOT) closer to home when it…read moreopened up opposite Sylvia Park. The store is big and spacious and there's a lot to look at. They could probably fit loads more stock on the floor but the flow of the store is great. They've got a wide range of denim here for women, and since I live in jeans, it was a great sight. North Beach is also home to all your favourite surf brands and you're bound to find what you're looking for from wallets and dresses to boardies and watches. My first visit here was pretty good and I made a very nice investment in a new bag. The staff here seem really chilled out to me and are really nice to talk to, not overbearing but always willing to lend a hand, which is how I prefer to be served when I'm out and about. They also stock my favourite New Zealand brand, RPM, and this branch is one of the only two surf stores I go to in Auckland to check them out, because their service is far better. Unless you're after something specific, you could easily spend a good half an hour or so in here just browsing, especially since you's have to walk across the road from the mall, or drive to get there- may as well make the most of your trip! I for one am looking forward to making a trip here in the winter for some Huffer knits and Wrangler jeans- its your perfect all-season store.

The woman behind the counter has always presented herself with a big smile ready to assist the potential customer. The clothing range predominantly stock bold colours and large print designs. Casual or elegant evening wear to chose from. I am especially taken with her gorgeous bags, casual beach bag styles with lovely designs, mostly modern or ethnic prints - for $10!!! I hope those prices stay the same as I am keen to stock up on some for presents for the many female family members later in the year. The clothing appears to be better quality than anything else I have seen in Avondale retail shops and I hope the business is here to stay. They are situated across the road from the local library a few doors down on Rosebank Road.
