My father passed away and I was suddenly in charge of everything, including clearing out his home. I loved him but he was extremely irresponsible - no life insurance, no POA, no will, no burial arrangements, etc. At first I was trying to donate items however due to Covid and it being an upstairs unit in a gated community and his place being an hour away from me and certain organizations taking certain things only, etc., I soon realized I would never be finished. I finally requested bunch of Yelp quotes on New Year's Eve and submitted photos. ASM was the first to reply with a quote with a $50 range. Other ranges were too wide like $100-$600 or $500-900 or $300-500. Others wanted to come onsite to do the estimate. I simply didn't have the time or budget. I booked with ASM for two days later, communication was great and they showed up on time. Unfortunately I was told I had way more than was visible in the pictures and that it would cost a hundred more. It was absolutely my fault, I had more pictures that I forgot to send after realizing yelp only allowed five pictures when submitting a request for quotes. I only budgeted $300 for the junk haul so I asked if they could take just the big items and I would do the smaller ones myself and he said yes. In the end, they spent about two hours and filled up two truck loads just to help me out. They really went way above and beyond taking apart furniture, breaking them down, trying to fit as much as possible into their trucks, it was life size Tetris. They were so nice seeing the bind I was in and since they didn't have another job after me, they went out of there way to take as much as possible instead of just doing the agreed upon $300 for the big items only.
