I went to Painted Tree because I had heard Anita's Famous Rolls was selling their baked goods here…read moreafter shuttering their brick and mortar location last month. Not only did I find her product, I was a bit overwhelmed with the size of the space and the amount of makers, artists and crafters selling their wares and some vendors with unique mass produced items. With over 300 booths selling everything from small batch food items, crazy socks, chainsaw art and of course lots of KC Chiefs and Taylor Swift inspired art and clothing. This is truly a gift givers paradise. I will return here first when I need a unique gift for anyone.

Their jewelry section, which is mostly earrings and accent rings, is sourced from artisans both locally and regionally. I tend to pick up a stocking stuffer here just about every time I'm in because I know I'm not going to find those exact pieces anywhere else. Detail: the up-cycled clothes, such as Chiefs-themed distressed jeans, are ridiculously cool. The prices may be a touch more here and there, but you aren't likely to find some of those items elsewhere and therein lies the real value. The service is friendly, but I do believe they follow around the customers too much. I think they have volunteers since it's part of Catholic charities, but they seem to always be putting away clothing in the area that people are shopping and watching the customers which is uncomfortable.

This fantastic boutique doesn't have a ton of merchandise, but I want all of it. Well, not the ladies clothes, as I'm not a crossdresser. But if I were, I'd be a classy one and probably buy my clothes at George, too. Seriously, this store is nice! I'm impressed in particular by three areas: the pet stuff, their books and their dishes. Their little pet corner is small, but adorable. They had really great chew-toys, leashes, collars and dog bowls. The dog bowls would look fantastic in a modern home, and we plan on getting one of the collars for our pooch once her current one starts looking natty. Their collection of books is incredibly well curated. Lots of great cookbooks, cocktail guides and coffee table books. Also, they have a couple of kids books that certain parents would be way into, if you want your kids learning about CoCo Chanel and the like.
