The food is authentic! The shrimp are fresh and large. The Chicken Katsu is a must try.

We ordered juice, fresh salad, Manti (handmade dough stuffed with beef, and onions, steamed with garlic dipping sauce), traditional bread, beef kebabs and lula - a mix of ground beef and lamb grilled on skewers. Our server was kind & patient with us as we navigated the menu and overwhelming options. Everything was fresh and delicious. I'm so glad this was close to our vacation location.

The service was good. I was given a menu. I asked if they had soup today. The server showed me the page share their soups are. Evidently they always have fresh soups. I liked that they include pictures on their menu so you can see what each item looks like. I ordered the chicken soup and a beef Samosa. The soup was perfect. A nice hot clear chicken broth with pieces of dark meat chicken, carrot, and potato. I will be ordering this again. The beef Samosa was surprisingly delicious. I was expecting ground beef and when it arrived it had small pieces of beef and onion inside a crispy shell may was soft and chewy inside. The tomato based sauce for dipping was fresh as well. Their lamb kebob with fries looked really good too. I'll be trying that next time.

There is one walkway that goes down the middle of the restaurant. That walk way is shared with customers and staff. The staff works incredibly well together within this layout. Our waiter was great. He knew the menu and was able to offer suggestions. Because of the layout there was always wait staff/bus staff close by and stopping by to make sure we were good. One of the owners of the restaurant works the front of the house and does it very well. He stopped by to chat and helped his employees. As we talked he would pick up a plate if we were done with it, he saw we were out of wine and offered more. THE FOOD! This food does not come frozen from a restaurant food delivery service. It is made from fresh ingredients that are crafted into amazing dishes. Each dish we ordered had its own uniquely delicious spice profile that insures none of the dishes taste like another. This includes their amazing Appetizers. When we ordered we did not have to ask the Waiter any questions even though we had never ordered Indonesian food before. the Menu is laid out perfectly. It holds all the info you need for every dish. All the ingredients, the cooking style and a picture. You will be asked if you like mild, medium or hot. We all shared a Lamb dish, a Beef dish, a Shrimp/Noodle dish and a Chicken dish. Each dish was unique, well seasoned and VERY savory. The chili sauce and the sweet soy sauce that are on the table are both delicious. Even the Rice that came with some of these dishes stood out. We will be back with friends and family!

After asking about dietary preferences, our server walked us through the menu page by page, pointing out vegan-friendly dishes and offering recommendations, which we really appreciated and were spot on. Following their suggestions, we started with the Tahu Isi: tofu stuffed with fresh broccoli, pan fried and served with homemade peanut sauce - and the Perkedel Jagung: sweet corn fritters drizzled with Indonesian soy sauce. For our entrée, we split the Gecok with tofu as the protein: roasted black sesame, galangal, kaffir lime, shallots, and coconut milk. Everything was packed with flavor, and it was fun experimenting with the sweet and spicy sauces on the table. The corn fritters were lots of fun! They basically popped in your mouth. Krakatoa is a fantastic spot for vegans and vegetarians while still being an easy choice for dining with meat eaters. Looking forward to returning again soon.

The interior is clean and nicely decorated, with nice lamps along with clean tables and chairs. They also have outdoor seating through the breezeway. The staff were really friendly. The person who seemed to be the owner personally checked on us multiple times, and offered nice suggestions for entrees based on our tastes. The other servers as well were really nice too. My favorites of the entire meal were the manti (Turkish dumplings) and the chicken soup. The manti were small beef dumplings served in a delicious tangy yogurt sauce with some sort of spicy oil on top. They were very filling. The chicken soup was rich, with chicken, carrots, celery and parsley. It had a nice lemon note as well. The entrees - the kabab and the guvec - were hearty and had good flavor. The guvec was really hot (temp wise) because of the clay pot. Kunefe rounded out the meal. Could have used a bit more nuts but otherwise great. Great little spot for dinner!
