I really enjoyed myself in this market. They have a lot of items. I've never seen anything like it. If I'm ever in the market for lobster or crab, you can bet your buns I'm going here! Love this place! I've been to several Asian markets in the region and this is the best one. Plenty of products to choose from along with lots of vegetables and live and frozen seafoods. Prices are really good as well. There is another market in Lafayette off of Johnson street that's nice also. No live seafood though. Check them both out. I will include a photo of the basic ingredients needed and, in my opinion, the best brands of those ingredients needed to start cooking dishes. It's pretty standard Asian market with everything you would need! The one thing that makes this place stand out is at the front the store near the soybean milk case, there are homemade dumplings from NYC! They have homemade bao but my fav is the leek dumplings! Not bad for the price! $15.99 per bag of 50 dumplings! There are rows and rows of frozen ready to eat foods in the back with fresh fish and meats and fruits. It does have that "fishy " smell but what Asian market doesn't lol. read more

I tried a few snacks and noodle bowls that were genuinely some of the worst food items I've ever had but it could be just my taste buds. The Asian Supermarket has been an amazing addition to the Asian stores here in Baton Rouge. It's clean, huge, and has so much to offer like fresh veggies, sake, Japanese beers, boba ice cream, and they even have thin sliced frozen meats that are seriously perfect for hot pot with friends or family. Although it is one of the pricier Asian stores, there's so much here that you can't find at any other local store, so it's usually one of my first choices when I need to restock my spice cabinet or prepare for a gathering with my family. The store is always very clean, organized, and stays stocked with any groceries you may need and if you need help finding something, the staff has always been quick with helping to find exactly where that certain item is. My mom frequents the Japanese pork bone broth for hot pot, and the (owner/ manager?) is always nice enough to restock it because it's a hot item. I would recommend this store to anyone because there's something for everyone there. We love the Asian Supermarket! We're trying to learn more about Asian cooking, and this place lets us find and try all sorts of new ingredients. The produce is always fresh and the selection is good. My family has enjoyed trying new snacks, and my older son was thrilled to see the huge selection of noodles (he's a fan of ramen, and swears he will never eat regular grocery store ramen again). We haven't yet taken advantage of the fresh meat and seafood, but look forward to doing that in the future. I like that we can find sweet snack options that are a lot lower in sugar than things we normally find in our usual grocery story. My husband's favorite is the kim chi he finds in the refrigerated section. Finally got there.. my first ever visit was on Valentine's Day & I know I wandered the aisles for over an hour and can't wait to go back. It was a Sunday & it was very busy! This is a Foodie delight, even as clean as it was, and neatly stocked with fresh products... the fishy stink was still there.. but no wonder the fresh seafood was impressive! Vin Phat used to be the only choice in town since I started going in the 80's but not anymore.. there are other smaller Asian groceries conveniently peppered around town (Baton Rouge) over the past 5 years or so, but none like this super store version. This is the place to go if you're wanting to get your feet wet with Asian cuisine and culture. They have everything you could want. I've made wonton soup, fried rice, and moon cakes from ingredients I've bought here. They also have more than just some ingredients, they have live fish, eel, and crabs too! And make your way over to find tea kettles of various kinds and woks of various sizes. I could hang out here for a while, and I want to buy one of everything and try it all out. What a fantastic addition to the Asian grocery stores in Baton Rouge! What sets this place apart from the rest is that they are fully stocked and loaded with products and on top of that everything is priced. At the entrance they have their specials and sales going on FYI. This store is very clean, spacious, and I must say SO organized which made browsing easy breezy. Having a sweet tooth I had a field day here with the variety of snacks, drinks, and ice cream! They also have everything you need from different varieties and brands of rice, seasonings, dry products, kitchen items, fruits, vegetables, meat, seafood, herbal medicine, cute gifts, etc. For the most part they offer the same products as the other Asian stores and more. I also love that they get bakery items shipped in from Six Ping, which is a Chinese bakery in Houston. They also have cakes available to order upon request with a $20 deposit. I was told to keep in mind that the sides of the cake might be a little compromised in the event of it shifting during transportation, which I'm not super nit picky about. Regardless when I saw the cake menu, I just had to order a taro cake for my sister's birthday! We shall see how that goes. (I have included a picture of the menu) The owner also did tell me that they will be offering cooked foods like dim sum on the weekends soon. I am eagerly looking forward to that! This is a new asian supermarket that we are blessed to have in the cultural miasma that can sometimes be the red stick. Rows on rows of all the sauces you can dream of- a whole aisle of ramen lets you know they care. Crazy fresh veggies, amazing herb selection (not that kind California) and wonderfully sliced short ribs make your at home Kalbi preparation a breeze. Owner showed us how to set up our own hot pot sitch replete with the soup bases, spices and sliced frozen lamb and beef (and fish balls and lobster balls and tofu skin ya dig?) Yes, it's finally arrived! When I was growing up, these Asian supermarkets popped up in every direction, so the lack was not there. No matter where we were, there was one within our vicinity. Sadly, here in Baton Rouge, not the case. I only found small, Asian markets, with very limited supplies. The arrival of the Asian Supermarket here in Baton Rouge was pretty much a necessity. This city is quickly becoming very diverse, so it's about time that the supermarket scene catches up. I got to come in here with my family (briefly) just to look around. We were not going straight home, so we could not purchase any perishable items, but I've made a mental note of the items I do want to buy for next time. I was thrilled to see a robust fresh seafood section (a lobster tank, too), a plethora of frozen foods , a produce section, snacks galore and so much more. You'll just have to come see for yourself. The checkout lanes were quick and parking lot was huge. So, come shop, you may drop (from all the stuff you carry out) and roll right back over after your stash is gone. It's a little further away from home for me, but will be coming here when I can. In the meantime, I still love shopping at my neighborhood Asian market (off Perkins by Essen). Opened since Thanksgiving of 2017, very spacious and just clean feeling which is a big plus for me. Limited produce but has the basics. Prices on certain sauces I've noticed were a dollar or 2 more than the nearby Asian markets. Has your typical canned goods and spices. I was looking for black cardamom but they didn't carry it but the owner said they'll have some ordered so that made me happy. They have a good freezer section. Their seafood section is decent. This place is the bomb.com for the Baton Rouge area, I love it! It is brand new, big, bright and clean with lots of selection! Produce, frozen, refrigerated and dry goods, even live seafood!! Blue crabs and lobsters! Yum! Not a lot but a good enough selection of pastry as well, which is rare around here. I discovered this place passing by and saw the Grand Opening sign. The place is very spacious and clean! All the aisles are very neat and organized. I have seen some Korean and Filipino items I have not seen at other Asian markets. I did find that some prices are a little more expensive than the other Asian markets so you have to watch the prices. I was excited to find the gluten-free soy sauce and other condiments which are hard to find! Their tea collection is small but they have a vast variety of many other items! This must be the biggest, cleanest, newest and coolest asian market in Baton Rouge. The variety of products were plentiful and affordable. A bit out of my way, but I would kill two birds with one stone and make a trip to Harbor Freight before stopping by here. There is more to this market than just Oriental rice cracker mix snacks. Definitely, check out the seafood and produce. If your local grocery store is out of ginger like Whole Foods usually is come by this Supermarket as they were well stocked on my last visit. read more

Folks- run, do not walk, to this supermarket if you have even the slightest interest in Asian cuisine. There were offerings here I didn't even know I wanted or needed. Everything is super clean and well organized. The prices are pretty great too. Fair warning that many of the products in this store may not have English on them so be prepared to ask a friend for help or look up the products on the web. Personally I was making some Korean dishes and it was pretty easy to match the products on the shelves to several blogs with pictures of the products I needed.
