I really enjoyed myself in this market. They have a lot of items. I've never seen anything like it. If I'm ever in the market for lobster or crab, you can bet your buns I'm going here! Went again today. I absolutely love this place! The selection of items is amazing. I got a pound of giant jumbo shrimp for $4.99!!!! The fish selection is enormous and you can tell it's super fresh because all their eyes are clear. Their beer and wine selection is massive. The prices are more reasonable than Walmart. Can't wait to go back.

Love this place! I've been to several Asian markets in the region and this is the best one. Plenty of products to choose from along with lots of vegetables and live and frozen seafoods. Prices are really good as well. There is another market in Lafayette off of Johnson street that's nice also. No live seafood though. Check them both out. I will include a photo of the basic ingredients needed and, in my opinion, the best brands of those ingredients needed to start cooking dishes. There's plenty more but this is a good variety to start off with.

The best kimchi !!!! Everyone is so so friendly. Selection of fresh veggies on point, always leaving with some healthy fresh ingredients to make dishes we miss from back home !

I love coming into this Asian market for my sushi making needs. They have a great selection of products. The prices are decent, the store is clean, and the employees are friendly. If you are looking for produce they do not have a large selection like the asian stores I am used to. They do have things like ripe jackfruit, and fresh seafood. I also purchase thai curry paste from here, I always use the Mae Ploy brand and it turns out great.

Finally got there.. my first ever visit was on Valentine's Day & I know I wandered the aisles for over an hour and can't wait to go back. It was a Sunday & it was very busy! This is a Foodie delight, even as clean as it was, and neatly stocked with fresh products... the fishy stink was still there.. but no wonder the fresh seafood was impressive! Vin Phat used to be the only choice in town since I started going in the 80's but not anymore.. there are other smaller Asian groceries conveniently peppered around town (Baton Rouge) over the past 5 years or so, but none like this super store version. It's the Asian version of Ideal Market.. which is the Mexican supermercado of this scale

Lots of groceries and specialty food items common to the Asian community. We got many things to prepare homemade Chinese meals.

There are a handful of Asian markets in Baton Rouge, with a majority of them being Chinese and…read moreVietnamese owned and operated. Oriental Market may be the only Korean one in town, with a good selection of Asian goods with more emphasis on Korean groceries. Owned by a sweet Korean woman, this little store only has a few parking spots and has been around for decades. The place is well organized and has a good variety of everything from frozen foods to sauces. Prices seem to be relatively low here, enough to give Walmart across the street a run for it's money (#1). I couldn't find any produce here nor any soju (Korean vodka), but I was able to find plenty of other things (kimchi dumplings, korean sodas, etc.) most of the other stores are unlikely to have. If I lived nearby, this would be my spot for Asian groceries. As much as I like Vinh Phat, it's closer to Denham Springs than it is to LSU. I only wish this place would change it's name to something less generic and more original. _________________ (#1) Oh but does Walmart have Ssam-Jang for $2.99 a carton? Does Walmart even know what that is? Yeah, that's what I thought.

That's not the case here it appears. But the Oriental Market is a Korean owned, business that has mostly Korean products and I am grateful for that. The store is very small, but it has the essentials that every Korean boy needs. The owner was nice and helpful. I will definitely be back and am thankful it's here and convenient to my home.

I love Vinh Phat because it is just packed to the walls with interesting products to explore. Of course there are every type of ingredient and condiment for Asian cooking, but there are also a wide variety of great fruits and vegetables that are both familiar and exotic. My favorite discovery are the Thai Bananas, these are are small but super flavorful (really inexpensive as well). There are a bewildering array of snacks, from crab chips to rice crackers (rice crackers are crunchy and addictive). Then there are sweets! The various Asian Kit-Kat flavors are always popular, Matcha Green Tea is amazing! There are so many types of candies and treats. Then there is the selection of teas, of which they have a big assortment. These range from the reputedly medicinal, many forms of green, and amazing selections of black teas. It should also be noted that there are many refrigerator and freezer cases full of products to consider. I'm a big fan of seaweed salad, simply thaw and eat. Then there are the dumplings, so many dumplings... There are a lot of easy to prepare options to explore, as well as frozen treats! Aside from all the foods, there are other things one should check out. These include housewares and other sundry goods. There are woks, cleavers, serving ware, teapots, and much more. One special item I recommend is the natural straw brooms. Seriously good for sweeping!

It's dangerous that I pass it on the way home because when I have a bad day or want comfort food, I end up here. It has your basic Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Vietnamese products. Anything from egg tarts to dumplings/gyoza to kimchi to natto to pho broth. They have a lot of canned/bottled drinks, like Thai tea, Yeo's soy milk, milk tea, coffee drinks. All the sauces you need. And of course the snacks many of us know from childhood, like prawn crackers or Marukawa bubble gum. For the size, I was very impressed with this cute little shop. It's clean and organized, well stocked, and they're so friendly there. Honestly, prices are also super reasonable. They could totally jack up prices more and get away with it, since it's the only shop of its kind in this area. So I decided on 5 stars because while I do wish they had more non-frozen actual food and more variety, for their size, they're doing the best that they can. You can't walk into a store this size and expect an H-Mart or Assi or Hong Kong Supermarket. And the fact that they appeal to all the Asians is pretty darn great for this side of Baton Rouge. Overall, I would highly recommend. Come here for snacks, dessert, or getting ingredients for cooking. Just beware. You might end up getting more junk food than you anticipated!
