I had FUN at a self-defense beginner class which I took back on 27 March 2021. Funny enough, today is 27 March 2022 so it is now a whole year later. Time really flies. SELF-DEFENSE CLASS -- The class mixes principles of boxing, Muay Thai, and wrestling. Once the 2 instructors explained the defense moves that we would all be working on, each person paired up with a partner to practice what we just learned. I enjoyed practicing all the moves. The instructors provided props such as a padded hitting block. At certain points, the main instructor (man) was speaking too fast but he was funny. I recommend Krav Maga if you live in the area. It is located in Warrensville Heights on the east side of Cleveland, which is too far from where I live. Folks might not know that Riverview Martial Arts also offers several different kid and adult training opportunities in addition to martial arts. Since we have started going to him my son has noticeably improved in his hockey first three steps and Lacrosse speed, quickness and agility. I can't say enough how my son loves coming to his training sessions ( even though Master Coach really puts him through it!). The sessions are varied and tailored to his abilities to work to develop both his strengths and weaknesses in a one on one environment that is always demanding and challenging. Master Coach challenges my son's limits blowing past his comfort zone but always with respectful and conscientious coaching. My son has fun while he is improving his athleticism. I hear him grunt every once and a while and he always leaves sweaty, tired and cannot wait to come back! Jil is so smart, kind and in-tune with the needs of her students to make a yoga practice authentic to everyone. Also, I thought it was such a nice touch to enter the room and have yoga props set-up already per every space. I had been going to Yoga Roots for 7-8 years and often purchased annual passes. This past year, I…read moresustained an injury and was unable to attend yoga. I contacted Yoga Roots to ask for a partial refund or some other negotiated solution to this problem, and I included a letter from my doctor. It was also under the recommendation by my physical therapist that I avoid yoga. I needed to contact them a few times to get a response. They finally suggested that I wait until I was recovered and they could extend my pass. However, when I contacted them a while later about this, they--once again--did not respond. One would think that since I had been going to the studio for 7-8 years, that they would be more interested in resolving this issue, but it became obvious they were not. If you are considering them as your yoga studio, you may want to ask them what their policy is for unforeseen accidents and medical issues. You may also want to reflect on the ethics of a business you choose to support. Yoga Roots has some wonderful teachers, but because of my recent experience, I could never recommend them.
