There are several places to eat as well, there is an express Chick-fil-a, Starbucks and Bytes Cafe. This is a great place to get a quick bite to eat or you even have the option to seat outside if the weather permits on a gorgeous day! During Christmas they decorate very nicely, the village looks very festive great for an impromptu photo shoot possibly! I thoroughly enjoy walking around looking at all the decorations during the winter season! If you ever have time to visit the the Gateway Village you will not be disappointed. Covered, in case of harsh weather, breezy, great sound for amplified music/speaking, and tons of space with power outlets everywhere. It's rather well-kept with tons of pretty green spaces, flowers, fountains, and art. Really dig this spot on the west side of Uptown.

I have been here a number of times, usually to hit up Trader Joe's but there's also a nice Best Buy (that does auto installations), Pisces all-you-can-eat sushi, Lost Worlds Brewing, and now 3rd & Fernwood which was my destination today (Yelp elite event!). There's bunches more of retail and restaurants. The tall parking deck worked well on a quiet midweek evening but during the holiday shopping season, it will be a real challenge. The deck is clean, well lit and I did see security on patrol. As always, be aware of your surroundings especially in or near the elevators and stairwells. I did not bring the Sprinter as there is a low height clearance. Two good access points from Kings Drive and Charlottetowne Avenue have traffic lights. Speaking of retail, we tend to visit Trader Joe's the most...but there are other big stores, like Marshall's and Best Buys. Now, there used to be some cool boutiques here, but I don't recall seeing them recently (possibly closed due to Covid?). Probably the coolest feature of this strip is this little alleyway with a great patio dining...with clear views to Uptown Charlotte. Recently, they've installed this fun Umbrella Alley" display...colorful umbrellas suspended in mid-air. Think it's a temporary exhibition? In any case, there's always something cool to do and see here at The Met...and despite the long drive from where we live, we tend to go here quite often. Guess it's worth it?

Yes, it's mine, I'm an only child so deal with it. :P I have gotten better about sharing as I've matured, though so I'm happy to share the good news of my shopping center, and I'll even encourage you to go there. Need groceries? No prob, Harris Teeter has got you covered. Night on the town? Hit up Marshalls for some new digs. Pets? Petsmart. Want to feel beautiful? Ulta. Hungry? well there is a ton of selection for your tummy cravings here. You can go as junk foody as pancakes, with the IHOP, or have a little taste of the classy side with Table 274. There are at least 7 places to get your grub on in this village. Art Supplies, Toys & Bath & Body works oh my, after all that, you can head to Books a million to get your psychotic book craving tamed down temporarily. What? You don't have that problem?? Oh crap, then maybe I should head next door to Rite Aid for some prescription drugs, or just an energy drink.. Ok, enough of my rambling. You get the picture, there's A LOT of cool stuff here. Only 4 stars because of the parking situation. They have alot of spots, but it's just an odd layout. I feel like I'm a stalker following people as they walk to their cars, so I can hopefully snatch up their spot, and nearly rip off the mirror of the other vehicle parked next to them as I'm staking my claim. Dang that only child syndrome!! Or if I'm the one walking I feel as if I'm in Frogger... but, hey I guess it keeps me spry right?

On my recent visit to Toy Mania and World Market, it looks like some of the tennents are switching out or in transition. There also looked to be a season Christmas store that was getting ready to open. Between the stores are outdoor spaces... something that Panera (and a patio) takes advantage of. The Harris Teeter and other shops at the other end of the shopping center round out the stores and why the parking lot is super busy all the time.

It tucked inside a few of the large buildings downtown and connect them all on one level. Not sure where you would technically say is starts but for me It begins in the Wachovia building (I think it truthfully starts in the BB and T building but I can't leave these few shops out in the Wachovia building) and continues all the way to the Hearst Tower. I have visited a lot of the shops and the restaurant inside. It's an escape from the elements outside and a cool thing to see. However on the weekends it's a ghost town. The mall caters to the working/ business people downtown. On the weekends only the section in the Bank of America plaza is open and only Walgreens and the lobby of the Omni seem to be open. There is security walking around though. There are several different entrances and exits for the mall. You can walk towards other building in the area and there are tons of tunnels and walkways that connect you to different restaurants and shops in those building. The only thing open in this "mall" was a Walgreen's in the BofA building, none of the passageways were open nor did any of the nearby hotel employees even know they existed. Apparently all there is to do in Uptown is eat or drink, as there is a wealth of great restaurant and bar options, but there is no retail whatsoever. None. Really and truly sad because it's such a beautiful city, but unless you're looking for a bar or restaurant crawl, or to watch one of the local sports teams lose, you'll have to go elsewhere.
