It's a shame I hadn't stopped in sooner this summer, as I really love a very good (and very…read moreinexpensive!) Thai dinner with a cold Singha beer...but they are doing construction on the building, which obscures the entrance and makes the whole patio feel a bit dark and covered.
Hopefully it shapes up soon, because get past the construction equipment and there is a wonderful meal awaiting you! (and me!) I am wholly and mightily impressed with this little Thai place on the corner of Christburgerstr. & Prenzlauer Alle!
I had decided on my return trip home (after being soaked in a freak rainstorm) that I'd pop into this place and check it out...it only took me a moment to understand I had made the right choice and that it was far preferable even to my takeout mainstay Xuan, in Kaiser's. Bangkok is roughly the same price and I would say a bit better quality, and much nicer atmosphere. After all, its not in a grocery market.
For 8,20 I got a good portion of chicken, veggies and rice in peanut sauce accompanied by my beloved Singha. Would've been even less had I gone for a draft beer which are less than 1,50. I chose to indulge in an import...when you only have one, make it count right?
Besides the very low price point, I was very impressed with the super speedy and very friendly service. The two girls working the room were efficient and happy. From the time I sat down until I received my food could not have been more than 10 minutes. It was so hot I had to let it cool down, even!
Will definitely be stopping back in to try the summer rolls, soups, salads, etc...hot, filling, friendly service, inexpensive. Nice for a date, catch up with friends or even solo (like me!).
