The originally planned Asia Fest was postponed from May to June due to Mother Nature got angry this year. To me, Asian Pacific Heritage Month can be celebrated any month.
According to the Asia Society officials, they moved this year's event indoor because of unpredictable weather in Houston at end of June. I personally missed the outdoor stage and a extensive lined up of food trucks in front of Asia Society.
When everything came indoors, few usual activities got eliminated. I would have to wait till next year to see children's crafting things, Filipino bamboo dance and ancient Chinese games at upstairs patio. In 2019, there were only 2 food trucks and all food vendors occupied majority of 2nd floor education hall.
I noticed the stage performances were back to back or every 45 minutes as I was told. It's great time to show people this state-of-the-art theater but it gets packed quick. To some people, this was more crowded than previous years. It didn't matter to me much. Asia Society did a good job to impress and educate people about Asian cultures every year.
Parking situation is improved in the area. I noticed the city street parking got reminder messaging system to alert you time up and add money to the meter via text at $2/hr plus 25 cents fee. Just make sure you enter your cell phone number correctly. read more
