Old‑school charm, family‑run warmth, and a friendly vibe that makes you feel like a regular on your first visit. When it gets busy (and it does), it's perfect for takeout. I tried the Trio 3 Combo, and wow. The hot dog comes wrapped in butter‑toasted white bread and topped with creamy coleslaw--simple, nostalgic, and ridiculously satisfying. The small poutine that comes with it is loaded with squeaky cheese curds. Not a sprinkle... a mountain. Then there's the Gaston Poutine. This one is a full meal: heaps of cheese curds, crispy bacon, and ground beef all swimming in rich gravy. Hearty, comforting, and honestly one of the best poutines I've ever had. If you love supporting small, local, family‑owned spots--and you appreciate classic Quebec comfort food done right--Chez Gaston is absolutely worth the stop

We tried the India which was a butter chicken sauce with chicken and mushrooms. It was a fun dish with good flavor gravy. Odd choice to me to put mushrooms in it since I've never had butter chicken with mushrooms. The Chicken was thin sliced, I was expecting more like chunks. Regardless this was a solid 4 in my book. We also tried the Hat Trick which is basically a three meat poutine with bacon, ground beef and hot dogs. This was also solid, not as unique, but good. Probably a 3.75. we ordered the mega sized for both, which made the 2 dishes enough food for 3-4 people depending how hungry you are. We wanted the leftovers. The down side to this experience was the service. The place was nearly empty. The server passed us with a pitcher of water in have and didn't even fill the glasses. When we ordered a diet Pepsi instead of getting a fountain drink we got it in a can (both options were in the menu, fountain was cheaper), why not ask us if not sure what we want? At the end we waited a while to see the server and instead just ended up asking the hostess for our to-go containers. Nothing horrible, just meh. The takeaway, pretty good poutine with not so hot service.

Have these people never had a burger before? There's nothing wrong with the burgers here, but there's also nothing right about them. They're burgers. Meat, bread, lettuce, sauces..yep. It's a burger. And it's okay. Bland and by-the-book to a fault. It tasted liked they perfected the art of having minimal flavors and ingredients, as if they were weighing the taste of each in a highly technical way. I forgot I even went here by the next day and was only reminded by pictures I took. It's basically the Quebecois version of whatever one step up from an Applebee's would be, but with a premium price tag and hype. Any other burger in town would probably be just as good if not better. Side was pretty bad. Basically burnt tofu. Service was lacking, but there. I was tended to in the most basic 'there's another table to get through' way possible. Check took a long time to get to me and I ended up just walking up to the counter. Not sure why. There weren't a lot of people there. Tons of seating and a pretty nice view, although that's hard to not have in Quebec City. Can't recommend it with so many other options and delicacies not all that far away. Don't go out of your way to come to this place. Location: 4* Convenience: 2* Service: 1* Product/quality: 3* Aesthetics: 1*

The girl that took our order was friendly enough and she did the prep too, though she looked like she'd seen better days. No energy, no enthusiasm, that's for sure. I got a poutine with onions and the number of onions was absolutely overwhelming...like I ordered two onions with cheese, fries, and gravy. I couldn't believe how many onions were on it. My wife had a basic poutine and it was much better, just nothing super, super special. The interior decor is like stepping back into 80's, but is beat to hell. Gangsta rap pumping throughout isn't really my thing either, lol. Doubtful that I'd go back.

The restaurant is one of a small regional chain yet it seems family run and optimized to serve the local neighbourhood. It has local charm with tables for 4 and each with it's own pedestal for a Pizza pan. The menu itself features pizza, sandwiches, burgers & chicken fingers, pasta, and souvlaki. Two of us ordered a 10-inch "Garnivore" pizza, it's pretty much a 'meat lovers' special with pepperoni, chicken, bacon, and smoked meat. The crust seemed fluffy and crisp and the pizza did not survive the encounter. My spouse chose Chicken Fingers and found it to be more than sufficient. For myself it was a "Club 4 étages" club sandwich, it arrived with mayo and cole slaw on the side as well as a pile of french fries and a savoury gravy (reminiscent of St. Hubert or Swiss Chalet sauce). The portion size was more than adequate. Ordering is done at the counter and clients can then go find their own table. The kitchen took just a tad longer than I expected but everything was hot and well prepared. It was the type of comfort meal we needed before heading off to a later game. Overall the food was good, the service friendly, and the experience comfortable.
